Ed Sheeran is one of the featured acts that will be performing live at the first ever You Oughta Know In Concert, which will be livestreaming exclusively on VH1.com on Monday, November 11, and then airing again in glorious HD on VH1 on Thursday, November 21. The 22-year-old British troubadour became a member of the You Oughta Know family back in May of 2012, shortly before his debut album + was released here in the United States. Since that time, though, Sheeran has become a massive international star, penning tunes for the likes of One Direction, touring with Taylor Swift, and even recording the theme song for the next installment of The Hobbit.
JOHNNYSWIM is one of the featured acts that will be performing live at the first ever You Oughta Know In Concert, which will be livestreaming exclusively on VH1.com on Monday, November 11, and then airing again in glorious HD on VH1 on Thursday, November 21. JOHNNYSWIM, a duo made up of the married couple Abner Ramirez and Amanda Sudano-Ramirez, joined our You Oughta Know family in July of this year thanks in large part to the arresting nature of their debut single, “Heart Beats” (which you can catch an abbreviated version of above).
Lorde will be one of the featured acts who will be performing live at the first ever You Oughta Know In Concert, which will be livestreaming exclusively on VH1.com on Monday, November 11, and then airing again in glorious HD on VH1 on Thursday, November 21. Lorde joined our You Oughta Know family in September of this year, and promptly went on to hit #1 on the pop charts all over the world with her massive smash, “Royals,” trumping establishment pop stars like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga along the way.

I’m flashing back to the year 2005 and the celebration of one of my thirty-something birthdays with my twin sister. We were in Madison Square Garden for an Alicia Keys concert, and that evening’s opening act was John Legend. We’d become familiar with his music by way of his Get Lifted album, and it was a treat to start off the evening with this gifted and talented artist at the piano, just at the inception of his promising career. Well, I’m here to tell you that with the release of his latest album Love in the Future and its tour, John Legend has not only arrived, but he’s giving us all the reasons to pray to the music gods that he stays around for a long, long time.
Nicki Minaj is not the kind of woman who lacks self-confidence about her looks. Understatement of the year, right? Anyone who follows her racy music videos or even racier Instagram account is well aware that Nicki has no qualms about putting her considerable assets on display for the world to drool over.
One name that you’re going to see a lot of on year-end Top 10 lists once December rolls around is Janelle Monáe, whose The Electric Lady: Suites IV And V is far and away one of the most rewarding listens of the year. In addition to her unquestioned musical prowess, Monáe is also one of the most stylish artists in the game, as you’ll see in the latest installment of VH1′s ongoing Music Seen series. Our ace photog Lauren Weissler spent a recent day trailing the Q.U.E.E.N. as she made the rounds at VH1 headquarters, including a visit with VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown host Jim Shearer. Enjoy!

The 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards aired last night and, as always, the show was very entertaining (particularly those cyphers!). It’s refreshing to watch an awards show where penguin suit-wearing attendees aren’t uptight and nervous, but some of the people at the show—we’re looking in your general direction, Joseline Hernandez, Bambi, French Montana and others!—look like they might have gotten dressed after getting a bit tipsy on Ace of Spades. Take a spin through our gallery and let us know if you agree if these hip hop superstars need to step it up next time!

HAIM is the latest addition to VH1′s You Oughta Know family, and has signed on to be part of the first ever You Oughta Know In Concert special that’s airing on VH1 on November 21 at 9PM/8C. The three Haim sisters just released their debut LP, Days Are Gone, which will debut in the Top 10 this week when final numbers are released, and have gone from complete unknowns to selling out New York City’s Webster Hall in less than a year.
The very first line that is uttered by Miley Cyrus in her new MTV documentary, Miley: The Movement is “I don’t apologize for anything.” So, we’re just going to go ahead and assume that there won’t be any mea culpas forthcoming after pictures of her latest photoshoot with the notoriously raunchy Terry Richardson (who, we should note, also convinced her to fellate a sledgehammer in the “Wrecking Ball” video) appeared online this afternoon.
