The lovely Iggy Azalea has been setting both the charts and our hearts on fire with her brand new album, The New Classic. She’s double trouble on the Billboard Top Ten with her Ariana Grande duet, “Problem,” and also her solo single “Fancy,” which features an awesome Clueless-inspired music vid! Despite her crazy life, she found time to swing by VH1 headquarters in NYC to answer questions and show off her fab fashion.
The four brothers of KONGOS (Danny, Johnny, Dylan and Jesse), may be among the most crush-worthy VH1 You Oughta Know artists, but let’s not forget that these guys know how to ROCK. Just listen to their brand new single, “Sex On The Radio,” for all the proof you need. The guys came all the way from South Africa to rock us in New York City with their unique blend of African rhythms and amp’d up guitars, and we had an expert photo crew on hand to document a day in the life of a world famous group.
“Shake Shake Shake” by the Swedish indie group The Sounds is an infectious song sure to be the soundtrack to many a barbecue this summer. And when the band stopped by VH1 Headquarters last week for a performance on Big Morning Buzz Live, we just couldn’t get enough.
We already know that CHVRCHES is game for a round of Truth or Dare and that they’re fanatical about Emma Watson, but we want to get you even closer to April’s You Oughta Know artist. In this edition of Music Seen, we’re taking you behind-the-scenes of CHVRCHES recent visit to our Times Square offices.
You Oughta Know artist Aloe Blacc is one dapper fellow. Whether it’s on the red carpet or in a music video, the singer is always looking flawless. It makes sense that his style is one of his defining characteristics. He’s a soul singer with GQ sensibilities. When he stopped by the office, the VH1 team got to see that impeccable taste up close and personal. From his aviators to his navy blue velvet blazer, he impressed the staff with his fashion sense. Click through the gallery above for a day in the life of Blacc as he weathers the cold and the cameras in style.
Following in the footsteps of A Great Big World and Liv Warfield, American Authors is the latest band to get the You Oughta Know treatment in 2014. VH1 introduced fans to the band last week with a speed round interview, during which the guys spilled on all things crushes, musical favorites and influences. Now fans have the chance to go behind the scenes of the band’s Stopwatch video shoot. Zac Barnett (vocals), James Adam Shelley (guitar/banjo), Dave Rublin (bass), and Matt Sanchez (drums) stripped down and condensed their hit song, “The Best Day of My Life,” into 60 seconds.
Now that 2014 is in full swing, it’s time to turn our attention to the music the new year has to offer. And now that VH1 Soul You Oughta Know artist Liv Warfield is about to drop her sophomore album, The Unexpected, 2014 is about to get exponentially funkier.
An Illinois native, Warfield pretty much owned Portland’s R&B scene by the time she was discovered by Prince (yes, that Prince) in 2009. Since then, her career has been in first gear and we have no doubt that 2014 will be her year.
A Great Big World‘s debut album, Is There Anybody Out There?, just hit stores yesterday, but those of you who turned into VH1′s exclusive livestream of the band’s concert from New York City’s Highline Ballroom last week were lucky enough to get a special introduction to the material.
A Great Big World have been named as VH1′s You Oughta Know artist for the month of January, making them the first members of the 2014 class of this prestigious family of artists. The latest to join the lineage of piano-pop acts like Coldplay, Keane and The Fray, A Great Big World is made up of Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino, two guys who first met while studying at New York University.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Backstreet Boys global pop domination. A.J., Brian, Howie D, Kevin and Nick recently stopped by Video Hits One headquarters here in the heart of Times Square to promote their new album, In A World Like This, and our lucky photographer Jen Marigliano got to follow them around for the day.
