“Habits (Stay High)” is July You Oughta Know artist Tove Lo’s newest single to hit the U.S. The song is all about making and living with bad choices. So we sat down with Tove Lo to get to know her a little better in a Speed Interview. Turns out her worst habit is falling asleep in the tub when she’s drunk.

We’ve had many greats take a swing at our Stop/Watch Challenge to see if they can squeeze their hits into 60 seconds or less. This week, in honor of the launch of her month-long VH1 You Oughta Know campaign, we’re premiering Tove Lo‘s race against the clock as she sings her new single “Habits (Stay High)”.
Sam Smith‘s fanatical tendencies know no bounds. As an artist on the rise, he repeatedly credits legendary divas like Whitney Houston and Chaka Khan for helping to shape his musical taste, and bows down to Beyoncé and her flawless fierceness. He thinks Kanye West is a genius and Miley Cyrus a necessary lightning rod for pop culture. But what about the always-controversial Justin Bieber? Eh, let’s just leave that one be.
Passionate Grey’s Anatomy fans will recognize Sam Smith‘s take on “How Will I Know” as an episode-ender from this past season, and now they can revel in telling their friends they heard it first.
Every couple of years, a crop of young British singers invade U.S. airwaves, top the charts and dominate the press. This year is no different thanks to artists like John Newman and Sam Smith. Both are leading the charge with their infectious hits, “Love Me Again” and “Money On My Mind,” respectively. But these two are not alone. Also generating buzz are newcomers Sampha, Sohn and Tom Odell, as well as Alex Clare who surfaced stateside in 2013. These guys represent a new wave of British Crooners that you need to know this summer.
Just because someone is famous doesn’t mean they aren’t a fan. Celebrities are people, too, which gives them the right to freak out over the person/thing of their choice, just like us. In addition to worshipping at the throne of Beyoncé, June’s You Oughta Know artist Sam Smith loves Modern Family, telling GQ UK that Cameron Tucker (Eric Stonestreet) “is the best thing [he's] ever seen in [his] entire life.” Stonestreet has been playing the hilarious Cam since 2009 and has two Emmy Awards to his name, so it’s difficult to argue that he isn’t the greatest thing since the snooze button. Because we at VH1 like to make dreams come true, we saw it as our duty to bring these two together.
Happy Sam Smith day! Our You Oughta Know artist‘s debut album, In The Lonely Hour, is finally out here in the United States, and we’re lucky enough to have Sam guide us through his brand-new release, track-by-track.
We’re bringing you as much on the delightful Sam Smith as we can throughout the month, but the 22-year-old is lucky if he can sleep in the same bed two nights in a row. You see, being an artist on the rise means having a hectic schedule. And with upcoming gigs at Bonnaroo and Glastonbury, Sam is headed all over the world this summer. So what does June’s You Oughta Know artist do for 24 hours in New York City? Perform on Big Morning Buzz Live, take in the sights and compete for Beyoncé-themed prizes, among other things.
The rising British soul singer and VH1 You Oughta Know artist for the month of June is proud of his homosexuality, and we’re proud of him! Already this year, Sam Smith has seen major success in the US pop charts, following his triumph across the pond in the U.K. In addition to his incredible year, Sam will be joining the ranks gay, lesbian, and bisexual musicians who serve as beacons for the LGBT community.
