Rihanna Still Loves Chris Brown, And That’s Her Right

Rihanna Admits She Still Loves Chris On Oprah Interview

Rihanna‘s free spirit of being her authentic self, flaws and all, is partly why her navy is over 24 million deep on Twitter. Above all, the 24-year-old Barbadian beauty is relatable. Last night Rihanna’s interview with Oprah for OWN’s Next Chapter humanized her in a way that very few journalists can do like Oprah. Her transparency about her life, her mistakes, was nothing short of commendable. It made me like her even more. Yet there were times the interview was difficult to watch.

Outside of her massive success–highest digital selling artist in history with 50 million downloads–people were most curious about her past and present status with Chris Brown. The Queen of daytime talk shows used her magical interviewing skills to get Rihanna to open up about what many of us had already suspected–she still loved Chris. Read more…

Tuned In: Beyonce Leaves Her Footprint With Powerful “I Was Here” Performance At The UN

by (@zaragolden)

Yesterday was the first-ever World Humanitarian Day, how did you celebrate? As previously announced, Beyonce teamed up with the United Nations and humanitarian aid organizations to launch a global campaign to celebrate the day and to encourage people worldwide to get involved. For her part, she released this video of her powerful performance of “I Was Here,” as filmed live last month at the United Nations’ General Assembly Hall.

Looking glamorous in a glittering white gown, she sang the 4 track like the whole world might vibrate with her declarations of “I did”‘s and “I done”‘s. Even she was dwarfed, though, by a montage of recent humanitarian efforts playing on the towering, IMAX-proportion screen behind her, because the day was not meant to be hers alone.

Speaking with Anderson Cooper last week, she explained that, “I feel like we all have our purpose and we all have our strengths; and I don’t know if it’s selfish or unselfish, but it feels so wonderful to do something for someone else. And I think for the UN to want to include the whole world was something important, and that’s what I represent.” Did you do something to leave a foot print?

Last Lap: No Doubt, Mariah Carey and Cee Lo Green Set To Kick Off NFL Season

by (@zaragolden)

Finally, a good reason to watch football! [MTV]

Fred Durst
broke the news in an interview, wherein he explained that, “say in 2000, there were 35 million people who connect to this band. Twelve years later, lots of those people have moved on. We were a moment in time and it’s over.” That said, Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland has since tweeted otherwise, writing that, “LB has not called it quits. That article is insane. Thanks for your concerns, but we’re all good over here.” Either way, sounds like there’s fire in the hole. [PopDust] Read more…

Does Chris Brown Feel Horrible After Seeing A Clip Of Rihanna’s Emotional Oprah Interview?

Chris Brown Reacts To Rihanna Crying on Oprah

Oprah knows how to boost those OWN network ratings. Leading up to her suspenseful interview with Rihanna on Next Chapter this Sunday, a teaser was released of Rihanna crying while explaining how she felt after the infamous 2009 incident with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. The video made headlines reigniting the conversation around if the two were still in love and if everyone should forgive Chris now. An emotional Riri said she lost her best friend, but as angry as she was she wanted to protect him. “It became a circus and I felt protective. I felt like the only person they hate right now is him,” she told the queen of talk shows. Read more…

Green Day Have A Hip Hop Song On The Way, And We Can’t Wait

by (@zaragolden)

You have to give it to Green Day, if not much else they do these days could be called punk, their unwillingness to stick to the script is at least kindred in spirit to the lifestyle that gave them rise. From the outset, they have been clear that their upcoming trilogy of albums will be a departure from their protest rock past, and “Oh Love” already falls more closely in line with the Rolling Stones than The Ramones. This, though, we couldn’t have expected: apparently the “garage-y, Nuggets-type rock” ¡Dos! includes some sort of hip hop track? But not one where Billie Joe Armstrong raps. No, “I’m just the hype man,” he says. Rather, he’s leaving that up to a pro.

Speaking with MTV News, Armstrong explained that they wanted to collaborate with this band called Mystic Knights of the Cobra who are from the Northern California town where Green Day got their start, and that Mystic Knights of the Cobra, it turns out,  just happens to be fronted by a punk girl named Lady Cobra who raps. “She’s a good rapper, so we ended up collaborating with her. She’s this punk girl, she’s in this wild band that does anything from punk rock to hip-hop, so we collaborated with her and it ended up being great,” Armstrong said, adding that “this is the first collaboration  in a long time.” So, they got a punk girl to rap on their self described “garage-y” new album? That’s the spirit!

Check out Lady Cobra’s rap and (roller skate!) skills in the colorful video for Mystic Knights of the Cobra’s “Text Messaging Slut.” Would you hit her up (for a verse)? Read more…

98 Degrees Are Back! Check Them Out On Today Show And Big Morning Buzz Live

by (@zaragolden)

It’s mid-August and summer is waning, but 98 Degrees are — as of today! — officially back to make sure things stay hot. They started early, giving their first performance in a decade on the Today Show. And then before shipping off to Hershey, Pennsylvania for the Mixtape Festival, they stopped by VH1 headquarters for Big Morning Buzz Live for a game of “Because of Who” and a little bit of “Because of You.” What we learned? Drew is the prankster, Nick is the reality television buff (of course), Drew and Justin are the worst eaters, and Jeff is always down for one more round. Which, well, because of a few drinks, according to Nick, 98 Degrees is on the comeback: “We basically got together over a few beers and started singing and though, ‘This is not bad!'” And they then sang a little acapella “Because of You,” and we agree, not bad!

Before they left, they improvised a new theme song for the Big Morning Buzz — short but sweet, at 4:50 below — that they promise will be on their upcoming album, at least as a bonus track. Read more…

Lady Gaga Barks Back At PETA And Defends Kim Kardashian

Got fur? Lady Gaga does, and PETA is not too pleased about it. Lady Gaga was recently photographed in a poster for her upcoming film Machete Kills and sported a fur earlier this week in Bulgaria. True to form, PETA’s Jeff Mackey wrote an open letter to Lady Gaga on their website reminding the pop star that she once declared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show “I hate fur and I don’t wear fur.” As if accusing of her of hypocrisy wasn’t crass enough, Mackey compared her to Kim Kardashian writing, “you’re making yourself a target just like the mindless Kim Kardashian.” Ouch. Russian Punk Rockers Pussy Riot Found Guilty Of Hooliganism, Sentenced To Two Years In Prison

by (@zaragolden)

Three members of Pussy Riot, the feminist punk collective who staged a bold anti-Vladimir Putin protest in Moscow’s main cathedral last February and whose conviction has become a cause célèbre for everyone from Kathleen Hanna and Madonna to Alicia Silverstone and Flea, were charged with “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred” and sentenced to two years in prison this morning. President Putin himself, after all, had called for leniency. Read more…
