If you’re a country music fan, you’ve no doubt been up to your ears* in high quality album releases this month. Albums like Taylor Swift‘s Speak Now and Sugarland‘s The Incredible Machine are both tearing up the charts and earning widespread critical acclaim. Speaking of Sugarland, both Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush swung by our New York offices recently and were kind enough to play Five Questions with us. After watching this, if you ever hear Jennifer call Kristian “chicken,” you’ll know why!
*Is “up to your ears” even an expression? Well, it is now!
There is no band more accomplished in the realm of viral music videos than OK Go. Their video for “Here It Goes Again” was one of the very first viral videos when it came out back in 2006; over the last four years, it has racked up more than six million views on YouTube. Earlier this year, they hit the viral jackpot again with “This Too Shall Pass” (18 million views and counting) and “White Knuckles” (over six million views). Lead singer Damien Kulash popped by our offices a few days ago and took time to answer 5 Questions for us. We won’t tell you exactly what we asked him, but we will tell you that one of his answers is “Kittens and boobs.” To find out what question we asked him that prompted this response, be sure and watch the video above!
We just introduced you to our newest VH1 “You Oughta Know” artist, Christina Perri, but that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about our last one, Bruno Mars! His new album, Doo-Wop & Hooligans, just dropped today, and his single “Just The Way You Are” is currently sitting atop the Billboard 100 (it’s #6 on our Top 20 Video Countdown). We just caught up with Bruno and were able to corral him long enough to ask him 5 Questions, a session in which he reveals his desires to collaborate with Prince AND his addiction to Kriss Kross videos. Enjoy!
While it may not be as catchy of a nickname as “The Situation,” there’s no denying that Trey Songz’s self-given moniker, Mr. Steal Your Girl, informs his work on wax. After bragging that he “invented sex” just a little over a year ago, Trey is back on the scene with a whole set of sexually driven material on his fourth studio album, Passion, Pain & Pleasure. Right out of the gate, his collaboration with Nicki Minaj, “Bottoms Up,” blew up on the club circuit — Rest in peace, Anna Nicole Smith! — and now his second single, “Can’t Be Friends,” is also starting to climb the charts. We caught up with Trey here in NYC a few days ago and asked him 5 Questions; take a look at the video above to find out what songs are in heavy rotation on his iPod and who his dream collaborator would be.
Celebs stop by and we pepper ‘em with queries about the fun parts of life – that’s the essence of our new “5 Questions” series. Do you text or phone? Where’s the weirdest place you’ve had sex? What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? All the important stuff, right?
Of course we needed a superstar to kick off our franchise, and – voila! – the leader of the Pussycat Dolls walked through the door and happily became our first victim. Thanks, Nicole.
The ladies are on currently on tour with Britney Spears, and they’ve just released the a video for their “Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny).” We’re actually giving away tickets to the Circus tour’s L.A. and Vegas shows. Make sure you enter our sweepstakes.
But in the meantime, see what Ms. Scherzinger thinks about five different subjects. Among other things, she discusses America’s sexiest sport hero, and the most most hilarious movie ever made.
