Steven Tyler Apologizes To Nicki Minaj, But Insists That He’s Not A Racist

American Idol producers might want to drag another chair up to the judges’ table, because Steven Tyler has landed himself in the drama-fest and the already sure to be explosive season might be more fun yet if they leave him put, don’t you think?

As you’ll recall, Tyler said over the weekend that Nicki Minaj would have sent Bob Dylan “to the cornfield” had he turned up to try out. Nicki of course thinks otherwise, and said as much on Twitter, where she suggested that the comment might have been racially motivated. And almost as soon as she hit send on that last one, Tyler was on television apologizing.

Nicki Minaj Calls Steven Tyler’s Criticism Of Her American Idol Judging “Racist”

And just as it was beginning to seem that early American Idol drama had begun to dial down, the quiet has been broken by a bell signaling a new round: this time, with Nicki Minaj and Steven Tyler trading barbs over Nicki’s judging ability. Speaking with MTV last week, Tyler lamented the lack of “camaraderie” between judges this season before really digging his teeth into Nicki, saying:

“These kids, they just got out of a car from the Midwest somewhere and they’re in New York City, they’re scared to death; you’re not going to get the best [out of them]. … If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying.”

Nicki, of course, is not so sure that’s the case; and so yesterday she took to Twitter to defend herself against the Aerosmith frontman and Idol veteran’s criticisms. She suggested that he may be bitter about having lost his seat at the table, or more damning yet, that his “cornfield” comments might have been racist: Read more…

Can’t knock the hustle. Yes, this girl’s hustle speaks for itself. When Nicki Minaj announced on MTV News the release of Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded The Re-Up there were a few major side-eyes. PFRR wasn’t exactly well received by critics. But the Barbz were excited for the re-release with eight new songs including her two recent singles “The Boys” featuring Cassie and “Va Va Voom.” With a little over two weeks until the November 19th release Nicki gave the Barbz a special treat by releasing the tracklist for the forthcoming project. Nicki and Mariah American Idol Feud Is Getting Nasty, Barbara Walters Gets Involved

The Idol rumor mill is spinning out extra-nasty news today, with reports that Mariah Carey-Nicki Minaj drama have escalated from the initial maybe a little side-eye and screaming matches to alleged gun taunts. That’s right, according to Barbara Walters, Mariah says Nicki said, “If I had a gun, I would shoot the bitch.” Barbara versus the Barbz, dem babies and guns — has it really come to this?

As today’s story goes: Walters called her “good friend” Mariah this morning to hear her side of the story, and then reported back on their conversation this morning on The View, saying that the video is “troublesome, but that’s not what really worried her.” As Walters relays it:

“She said that when Nicki walked off the set, she heard multiple say, ‘If I had a gun, I would shoot the [bleep] bitch.’ [audience gasp] And she said there were staff members who heard, there were hairdressers, producers, other people. She said she is is very concerned, she is with her twins, she doesn’t feel that anything would happen. I am quoting now, but “nicki is unpredictable and Mariah says she can’t take a chance and she has hired extra security.” Read more…

A Battle Between The Divas Nicki Minaj Vs. Mariah Carey: Who Are You Rolling With?

Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey In American Idol Beef

“It was all good just a week ago” in the words of Kanye West. Perhaps everything wasn’t copacetic between the two new American Idol mega diva judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj as they initially led us to believe. Yesterday a heated argument during auditions between the self-proclaimed Barbie and Mimi was caught on tape. From what TMZ gathered, Nicki can be heard cursing Mariah out. “I told them I’m not f—— putting up with her f—– highness over there,” said Nicki. “Figure it the f— out. Figure it out.” As the story grows Nicki is catching a lot of flack from fans, viewers and the like for the tongue lashing she gave the pop legend. Read more…

Idol Insanity! Nicki Minaj Threatens To Knock Mariah Carey Out (VIDEO)

When it was announced that Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey would each occupy a seat at the judges table on the upcoming season of American Idol, most everyone hoped that the pairing of these two divatastic juggernauts would lead to some serious D-R-A-M-A. Well, much to the delight of everyone who has been bored silly by the shade-free relationship between Britney Spears and Demi Lovato on The X-Factor, tensions flared BIG TIME earlier today between the Queen of Young Money and the one and only Mimi.

According to a report filed this evening by TMZ, things got HEATED between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey during a round of auditions that were being taped in North Carolina this afternoon. The two apparently disagreed over the merits of a contestant’s performance, which led to Nicki to shout this amazing barb at show producers: “I told them, I’m not f***in’ putting up with Her F***in’ Highness over there.” Then, according to TMZ, Nicki threatened to “knock” Mariah Carey out. (!!!) While this startling exchange did not ultimately result in blows, you can bet this is the kind of thing that might never completely blow over. (Especially considering Minaj and Carey were reportedly beefing only TWO DAYS into taping!)

We’re not taking sides in this battle, because we love both of the former VH1 Divas in equal measure, but we can tell you one thing: We can’t wait for the lucky 13th season of American Idol to premiere in January 2013!

American Idol Kris Allen Says “Things Are Only Gonna Get More Fun” Now That He’s Split With RCA Records

So long, farewell! American Idol season eight winner Kris Allen has parted ways with RCA Records, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. Allen signed to the Sony subsidiary after he beat Adam Lambert in 2009, and soon thereafter released his self-titled debut. With his inspiring first single “Live Live We’re Dying” ahead and an American Idol win behind him, Allen’s first album entered the charts at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and, all told, moved more than 346,000 copies. Allen’s 2012 followup, Thank You Camellia, saw more moderate succes, debuting at No. 26 and with his cover performances like the one he did of Ellie Gouldings “Lights” or the Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows” getting at least as much play as his official single, “The Vision of Love.”

Allen is not the first Idol winner to split with RCA, fellow winners David Cook and Lee DeWyze before him have gone their own. And so Allen isn’t concerned, rather he promises that “things are only gonna get more fun.” In an address to his fans, he said:

I wanted to let everyone now that RCA and I have decided to split ways. I thank them so much for everything that they did for me. There are so many people there that contribute to my becoming the artist that I am and I will miss them all. In saying that, I am really excited about what is ahead. The path has never been clearer to me. I love what I do and I will never stop. So, to my amazing fans, thank you so much for everything so far but things are only gonna get more fun. I promise.

A free artist now, we can’t wait to see what Allen’s next winning move will be.

Demi Lovato Is About That Life, Calls Simon Cowell An “A–hole”

Even after a two hour season premiere of The X-Factor it’s too early to tell what kind of chemistry judges Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato will have. Her bubbly personality up against his mean sarcasm wouldn’t typically be an ideal match. For now, though, the two are all smiles. Last night on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien Lovato was quite the jokester giving her two cents about Cowell’s tight t-shirts. “We’re trying to reach a younger demographic, and I just don’t feel like we’re going to accomplish that when he’s showing more cleavage than Britney and I are,” Lovato said. He wouldn’t be Simon if he didn’t retort, “Then show more cleavage.” There’d probably be few complaints with that solution. Read more…

Mariah Carey Has This To Say About The Rumored Beef With Nicki Minaj: “How You Gonna Feud In Two Days?”

Mariah Carey Says There Is No Feud With Her And Nicki

Only a couple days have passed since the new lineup of American Idol judges were officially announced, but the rumors of a brewing feud between new judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey have buzzed since Nicki’s name was thrown in the pot as one of the potential judges. Nicki and MC join Keith Urban and Randy Jackson for American Idol’s 12th season. MTV News stopped by the Idol set where the legendary diva shut down any and all chatter about any turmoil. “How are we gonna feud in two days?” she laughed. “A feud takes a little longer to spread out [than that].” There it is straight from the five octave range vocalist’s mouth.
