If his recentperformances can be counted as evidence, Usher won’t leave home without a juiced-up fog machine in tow and promise of a laser show waiting for him at whichever stage he’s headed to. And even though most artists tone things down for their day time television performances (Christina Aguilera, for example), Ursh is not one to compromise when it comes to his pyrotechnics. And so today he showed up for Ellen with his calling-card smoke and lasers, a team of dancers and his impressive stamina for another highly athletic performance of “Numb.” His vocals were a bit shaky, but hey! His dance moves were really on point.
Afterwards he hung around and challenged Ellen to a little dance-off. They picked moves off his Dance Central 3 video game and he was almost convincing when he told Ellen that she was beating him. Check out the pretty cute video below the jump.
Was Seal sending out a not-so-subtle message to soon to be ex-wife Heidi Klum, or was it just a happy coincidence that he sang Al Green‘s “Let’s Stay Together” on Ellen yesterday? Regardless, Seal gave a perfect vocal performance, staying true to Al Green’s style. Looking sharp as hell on his glittering stage, Seal’s rendition of the classic song was practically flawless, and he moved between the high and low notes with a naturalness that made the whole thing look criminally easy. So easy in fact, that we gave the song a go right here in the office — let’s just say that just because something looks easy, it doesn’t mean that it is.
Since we first saw The Black Keys‘ video for “Lonely Boy”, the first release from their forthcoming album El Camino, we’ve been dancing around our bedrooms in the wee-hours of the morning, trying to get our moves as flawless as the video’s star, Derrick Tuggle. And now, our second favorite dancer in the world, Ellen Degeneres, has interviewed Tuggle on her show, and yes, the two danced together and we basically lost our minds with excitement. It was awesome.
Tuggle was visibly uncomfortable during the interview, which made him even more endearing; it turns out that he’s just a regular guy with some mean moves who stumbled upon his moment in the spotlight completely unexpectedly. His earnestness about his dreams, his family, and his dancing just made us love him even more. And even though Tuggle looked like he was trying desperately not to fall off his seat while chatting to Ellen, he was completely at home on the dance floor, where he reprised the moves that made him a viral sensation for The Black Keys.
