When a great television series is taken out to pasture, where can fans go to mourn together peacefully? Tumblr, for one, but what about the welcoming halls of VH1? We missed Best Week Ever so much we brought it back!
Tegan & Sara were gracious enough to stop by VH1 HQ to chat about their upcoming album Heartthrob–a 2013 release we can’t wait to hear–as well as the ’90s television shows they miss the most, and the vintage fashions they otherwise regret. The music video for lead single “Closer” has a distinct ’90s feel, and the band has previously said it was inspired by one of their favorite shows: the criminally short-lived but eternally beloved, My So-Called Life. Because we’re television junkies around these parts, too, we couldn’t help but ask them to elaborate on their early fascination with Angela, Rickie and Rayanne.
Drake has, as a rapper and a rap star, forged his own by singing, rapping, hugging and wearing as many sweaters as he so pleases. Capable when articulating his heartbreaks and struggles with fame and new-found fortune, he seems to struggle with sartorial expression and has showed up on stages and red carpets, about town and in videos, in everything from bold animal prints to his too well worn team sweats and only occasionally dressed to the 9′s (suits, by the way, he looks great in!). Drake has worked hard through the years to find a look all his own, and though he’s taken a lot of slack for his bold and often regrettable attempts, he’s yet to shy away from a bold pattern nor an unusual accessory. Because, like he says, “it’s all of the little accents that make me a king/ I never hear the disses they try to point out to me, but it’s whatever if somebody wants to make it a thing.”
Many of our favorite musicians were all about glitz and glam at last night’s annual Met Gala in New York City. The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala, hosted by Vogue, is a night celebrating the opening of the museum’s fashion exhibit. Celebrity, fashion, couture, oh my! Think of the Oscars mixed with NYC Fashion Week and you have the visual of the red carpet at the Met Gala.
Artists from Beyoncé to Mick Jagger to Lana Del Rey to Kanye West turned heads on the red carpet with their stunning attire. It’s totally cool to see your favorite musicians taking a break from their walk-around-the-streets-of-LA gear and see them dolled up in Valentino and Rachel Zoe and Givenchy. Beyoncé, in particular, was a show stopper for the night in her sheer Givenchy gown. Solange was absolutely stunning in an all yellow Rachel Roy dress. Justin Timberlake kept it classic with an all black tux. Take a peek at some of our favorite musicians that put the “S” in stunning.

Over 270,000 fans (!) braved the elements and attended this year’s Lollapalooza festival in downtown Chicago, which was held this past weekend. Attendees got to enjoy a wide variety of musical performances from the 100+ acts that were on the bill, but as anyone who has ever attended a musical festival will attest, that’s only one of the many benefits of ponying up the 200 or so American dollars it costs to gain entrance. Of course, there’s the whole bonding with your friends thing, there’s the life experience of sharing a collective moment with tens of thousands of strangers, and then there’s the people watching.
Each music festival we’ve attended has had its own signature sense of style. At Bonnaroo, scantily-clad hippies freely roam the grounds in Manchester, Tennessee, and at SXSW, ticketholders and performers alike opted for more “of the moment” fashions. This weekend’s Lollapalooza ticketholders, however, tended to lean more towards a casual hipster aesthetic, which made plenty of functional sense considering the variety of weather conditions (heat, dust, rain) concertgoers had to deal with. Take a spin through our photo gallery for a sample of what people wore knowing that they were going to see and be seen!
Janet Jackson bared one of her breasts during the 2004 Super Bowl. Having acknowledged this, we may now discuss the singer’s new lingerie line, The Pleasure Principle. “I’ve always hated when lingerie is uncomfortable…” The Superbowl proved that.

Wanna dress like Mr. West? Now you can!
Kanye West is sure to quickly become the most egotistical, self-obsessed fashion designer in the world with the release of his new shoe line for Louis Vuitton. Yep, Kanye’s putting the rap game on hold to take the shoe industry by storm. But he’s not stopping there! He’s already designing his own clothes, and he showed up dressed totally in his own designs while in Paris last week to attend the famous French designer’s runway show. “I grew up with the Louis look, you know,” the rapper gushed. “I just love the style.”
Ladies, don’t feel left out! He’s doing a women’s line of clothes (separate from his stuff for LV) in the fall. Tell us – will you wear Kanye couture? [WWD/E! Online]
Our favorite almost-divorced couple is finally working out the kinks of their divorce settlement, and Kimora Lee Simmons is walking away with a phat wad of ex-hubby Russell‘s cash. Well, not Kimora exactly – their kids. Yep, each girl – Ming Lee, 8, and Aoki, 5 – will get $20,000 a month from their dad until they turn 18. That adds up to $480,000 a year for each kid – who already spend their lives living large in a $24 million mansion in New Jersey.
In case you forgot, the still amicable pair divorced after nine years of marriage. Kimora is now dating super-hot actor Djimon Hounsou, while Russ keeps busy doing yoga with model Porschla Coleman. [NYDN]
Last night’s BET Awards show was a kick-ass house party, a fashion show, and a hip-hop reunion all in one! Keyshia Cole and Rihanna looked fierce in yellow, and even Little Mama‘s bizarre kiddie dress was totally precious. Also, En Vogue! T-Boz and Chilli! Swoon. The night was one big exclamation point!!! Pics below.
Ugh. Jessica Simpson has finally figured out that her singing/acting/hardly wearing any clothing career is fizzling, so she’s continuing to sell new products in order to fund her Louis Vuitton habit. She’s hawked shoes, fake hair, edible make up, bags, and bathing suits. Next up – lingerie, which we imagine will represent the blond’s lust for tacky fashion. Jessica Simpson?s Intimates will launch in Spring 2009, and we beg of you – DON’T BUY IT! We don’t need to give JSimps another reason to stick around.
While the rest of the world was paying attention to who was winning what at the MTV Movie Awards, a few of us were drooling over our favorite celebs that looked good enough to bed. Check out our picks for the 10 Most F*ckable Celebs at last night’s show – and tell us, were you as turned on by Audrina’s new bangs as we were?
