Jay Z has done so many glorious things during his 45 year stay on planet Earth. First off, he’s crafted two of the best hip hop albums of all time —Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint. But he’s also declared death to Auto-Tune, retired and then un-retired, professed his love for New York (the concrete jungle where dreams are made of), and most recently got drunk in love with his queen, Beyoncé. Though today is his birthday, Jay Z has already attended thousands of extravagant parties – and seemed to enjoy the naughty ones the best. Luckily for mankind, they all happened to be filmed in various music videos. Enjoy the 12 times we really wanted to party with Hova.
Here’s all of the news you need to know this morning on First Dibs: Justin Bieber will go to anger management as part of his plea bargain in the egg throwing case, Stacey Dash tells Kanye West he should “go to Rikers for a little while” to learn what rape is, Nelly performs “E.I” on Wild ‘N Out, and more.
Twitter is the best free marketing tool in existence because of its user-friendly interface and versatility. It’s easy to build a brand based on simple or strategic tweets so why don’t some of the biggest stars in music use Twitter all the time?
Is there a future for Katy Perry in the White House? This selfie she took with a certain Vice President has people buzzing. Nick Cannon takes a few punches from the cast of “Wild ‘N Out” and Ariana Grande celebrated her 21st birthday at the happiest place on earth.
The temperature isn’t the only thing heating up this summer. Rita Ora‘s career is clearly about to boil over. The soulful Roc Nation rookie is already hot back home in the U.K. where her Drake-penned single “R.I.P.” reached No. 1. The Tinie Tempah featured record is the second chart-topper for the Kosovo-born, London-raised Rita whose own guest spot on DJ Fresh‘s track “Hot Right Now” landed her atop the UK Top 40 back in February.
Despite capping all the accomplishments of the past four months by opening up for Coldplay’s European tour, 21-year-old Rita is determined to go global. Boss man Jay-Z‘s ringing endorsement plus heavy-hitter collaborations with producers like Will.I.Am, The-Dream, and Stargate to name a few, almost guarantees Rita’s eponymous debut album will officially usher in the Ora era in the States.
First Mary J. let the cat out of the bag, now Jay and Bey‘s florist is talking: UsWeekly‘s latest cover story features a lengthy story on the first couple of hip-hop’s wedding. According to florist Amy Vongpitaka (who probably won’t be hired for any future celeb weddings after opening her big mouth), Mr. and Mrs. Z had an almost six-foot wedding cake, 750 pounds of flowers, and an intimate guest list at their 9,000 square foot apartment. While the couple have refused to confirm or deny their marriage, Beyonce did keep her ring finger covered on Tuesday when the singer stepped out in Manhattan.
Now that he’s left the Old MCs Home, Jay-Z is releasing an entire album of songs inspired by the upcoming film American Gangster, starring Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington, as well as T.I., Common and RZA. Though none of the songs on the forthcoming release appear on the soundtrack for the film, a trailer for the November 2nd movie features Jay’s “Heart of the City” from his 2001 release The Blueprint. The first single, “Blue Magic,” leaked last month. The album also features a remix of 50‘s “I Get Money,” which we imagine Jay knows something about.
