What better way to cap off a great weekend than by snuggling up to your laptop for some live music? Our friends at MTV Hive are livestreaming Tegan & Sara‘s concert from Boston’s Brighton Music Hall, tonight at 8 p.m. ET/CT and you can watch the entire thing right here on VH1 Tuner! Read more…
What’s on your To Do list this weekend? Watching Tegan & Sara live in Boston, we hope! The lovely Quin ladies are just days away from the release of their seventh album, Heartthrob, and will be performing at Brighton Music Hall in Beantown Sunday, January 27 as part of MTV’s Artists to Watch Live in Boston series. Even if you don’t have a ticket to the show, or are rethinking ever leaving your house again given the current temperatures, you can enjoy the entire set from the comfort (and warmth) of your couch thanks to our friends at MTV Hive.
UPDATE (12:05 p.m.): Sorry guys, the stream has expired. That said, we’ll be sure and keep you posted when clips from the show go live on MTV Hive.
Garbage’s highly anticipated fifth album, Not Your Kind of People, just dropped yesterday. And to celebrate its release, MTV Hive livestreamed the alt-pop foursome’s first New York City show in over seven years from Manhattan’s Webster Hall last night. Rather than standing in the back, fighting to see over those tall dudes who always seem to stand directly in front of you at concerts, you’ll be able to witness Shirley Manson in all her glory as you watch the entire Live In NYC show right here on VH1 Tuner. Be still my 1990s, post-grunge, prepubescent, beating heart! (Just remember to keep your fingers close to those Alt and Tab buttons in case your boss unexpectedly swings over…)
UPDATE (7:45 p.m.): The Alabama Shakes livestream will be popping off right here at 9:00 p.m. ET/8 CT. Let us know what you think!
The word “authenticity” seems to be on everyone’s lips these days, as music critics and fans alike continue to debate over what’s really considered “music.” Well, when it comes to authenticity, you’d be hard pressed to find a band that’s got more of that particular trait than the Alabama Shakes, a group that until just a few months ago were all holding down day jobs to make ends meet.
We caught up with the Shakes a few weeks ago down at the 2012 SXSW Music Festival, where their performances earned rave reviews across the board. We asked them to describe their sound, and lead singer Brittany Howard told us, “Well, I’ll tell you a little bit about what we like. We like Lee Fields & The Expressions. We like Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. We like Otis Redding. We like AC/DC. We like Black Sabbath. We like My Morning Jacket. We like Kings of Leon. We kind of put all that together, plus more.”
The band’s first album, Boys & Girls, is available in stores (and on Spotify) today. And to celebrate its release, MTV Hive will be livestreaming the band’s performance at New York City’s Webster Hall TONIGHT from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET. You’ll be able to watch the show right here on VH1 Tuner, but for now, you can read more about the show AND the Alabama Shakes on MTV Hive!
