We’ve acknowledged that the haters are in full force when it comes to Christina Aguilera‘s Lotus. And they’re doing what haters do. But Xtina’s resilient. And like a lotus, she’s determined to bloom regardless. “Lotus to me is the culmination and definition of the unbreakable flower,” she tells VH1. “No matter what its surroundings or the harshest of weather conditions, it survives and continues to thrive.” Read more…
You heard me correctly. Despite the haters (and, boy, do they come out in droves for any Christina Aguilera-related event), I am rather enjoying Christina’s newest effort. Lotus follows Christina’s first flop, Bionic, which so confusing followed the two-disc Back To Basics — which single handedly allowed her to hit the top of the chart with the likes of “Dirty” and let her vocals shine with songs like “Save Me From Myself”. The aforementioned flop, Bionic, seemed to come out of nowhere and while die-hard Xtina fans stayed by her side, the rest of us were baffled by Bionic‘s lack. “If you don’t like it, f*** you,” she sang on “Not Myself Tonight”, a boast perhaps unvalidated by the rest of the album.
But past is past, and after Christina joined the ranks of Cee-Lo, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton (three good influences!) on NBC’s The Voice, it felt like everyone thought that boost of celebrity would force her newest album Lotus to be as good as we all hoped it would be when it hit stores (and streams) this week.

After watching Christina Aguilera‘s new video for “Your Body,” it’s readily apparent that she’s ultra-confident about her curves. And why shouldn’t she be? Her beanpole “Genie In A Bottle” days are a distant memory, and motherhood seems to be doing wonders for her self-confidence and overall attitude.
That confidence, along with every other inch of her body, is on full-display on the cover of her new album, Lotus. None other than @TheRealXtina herself tweeted out her new(d) album cover today, a little over a month before her long-awaited follow-up to Bionic hits shelves. It’s the kind of cover that Georgia O’Keeffe, the undisputed Queen of Vaginal Symbolism, would be totally proud of.

“Your Body” is Christina Aguilera‘s new electronic-pop dance single from her upcoming seventh album Lotus. If the The Voice judge was going for a track suited for club speakers and late night feel good dancing then she nailed it. The up-tempo drum beat coupled with her belting vocals makes for a fun enough party song. At the same time it’s sultry with the “tonight’s your lucky night, I know you want it” chorus. Problem is–it sounds like any other electronic dance music (EDM) song. There isn’t any unique quality–not even Christina’s amazing vocals–that differentiate this song from an Usher or Pitbull or any other of the slews of artists making EDM tunes. Read more…
