It’s Time For War In Fun.’s “Some Nights”

There’s a bloody war occurring in Fun.’s “Some Nights” video. Director Anthony Mandler recreates images of the Civil War, which could easily represent any war in history. The premise of the cinema-like video is that war tragically takes a toll on life and love. One minute life can be as pleasant as watching horses in the pasture or dancing with a girl, as the opening scene shows, and within a flash the boys and men are off for battle. Read more…

Wiz Khalifa, Fun. And Janelle Monae Keep It Electronic Dance Funky With Performances At MTV Movie Awards

Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards was all about, well, the movies. And the fashion, both (good and bad). But the musical performances deserve a nod of their own. The rock band Fun. performed their hit single “We Are Young” to what sounded like either a glitch in the sound system or struggling vocals. Almost screaming the lead hollered through his performance. MTV Movie Award Performers

The MTV Movie Awards’ eclectic mix of performers every year is always a pleasant surprise. This Sunday the annual award show has pegged Martin Solveig to DJ the music for the evening. DJ’ing won’t be the French producers only duty of the evening as he’ll also be joining Black Keys, fun. and Wiz Khalifa as performers. Hopefully his hit “Hello” will find its way into the list of songs (or performances!) that will make you want to boogie. Read more…

The highlights of last night’s MTV Movie Awards may largely have been Robert Pattinson-related, but there were a couple of great musical performances, too?like the Foo Fighters, above, who played their new single “Walk,” which incidentally has a movie-themed music video. (The band has played the show before, closing out 2005’s musical performances with “Best of You.”)

Later in the show Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz performed a two-song medley: performing not only their collaboration “Out of My Head” (Lupe’s latest single) together live for the first time, but also the earlier Lupe single “The Show Goes On,” with Trey Songz handily supplying JR Get Money‘s “Float On” chorus.
