MUSIC SEEN: Ain’t Nobody Gonna Get In Robin Thicke’s Way

Robin Thicke VH1 Music Seen Photos

Is there anyone out there having a better year than one Robin Thicke? His collabo with Pharrell and T.I., “Blurred Lines,” is undoubtedly the biggest smash of the year, and his new album is poised for a huge debut when next week’s SoundScan figures get released.

Robin spent some time in New York City recently, and VH1′s ace photographer Lauren Weissler trailed him for a few days while he did some interviews here at VH1 headquarters and performed for an iHeartRadio Live performance. We’ve collected the shots of the heartthrob for you in the latest entry in our ongoing Music Seen series.

Music Seen: Hunter Hayes Proves Why He’s An Artist To Watch

Hunter Hayes Music Seen

Hunter Hayes is one of the most exciting new voices to emerge in today’s contemporary country music scene. How do we know? Well, we’ve seen him display his considerable talents on a few different occasions now, including the 2013 Grammy Awards, last week’s Philly Jam, and his Artist To Watch showcase set at New York City’s Webster Hall late last month. The latter concert was livestreamed by our friends over at MTV —you can catch the entire Hunter Hayes: Artist To Watch showcase here— and we sent our ace photographer Lauren Weissler to the show to capture the scene for the latest entry in our ongoing Music Seen series.

MUSIC SEEN: You Oughta Know’s Neighbor To The North Serena Ryder Makes Play For NYC

615x462

We’ve been having a blast sharing our June You Oughta Know artist, Serena Ryder‘s, personal photos but now it’s our turn to share ours. VH1 stalked our favorite Canadian singer-songwriter (sorry, Biebs) as she made her way around New York promoting the U.S. release of her Juno Award-winning album Harmony.

MUSIC SEEN: You Oughta Know’s Gin Wigmore Makes Ghostbusters Glamorous

gin_wigmore_music_seen_cover

One of the perks of having Gin Wigmore as VH1′s You Oughta Know artist this month is being able to stalk our favorite Kiwi soul siren without being creepy. So, earlier last month we tracked Gin’s every move as she made the rounds across the U.S. from California where she tore up the Live in the Vineyard stage to New York promoting the U.S. release of her sophomore album Gravel & Wine.

MUSIC SEEN: You Oughta Know Artist Jessie Ware Experiences The Sights And Sounds Of New York City

Jessie Ware VH1 Music Seen

Jessie Ware is VH1′s You Oughta Know artist this month, and we had the great fortune of spending a few days with her in New York City earlier this month. Jessie’s debut album, Devotion, hits U.S. shores tomorrow (4/16/13), and if you didn’t happen to pick it up when it was released in the U.K. last fall, you’re in for a treat. It’s one of the lushest R&B albums we’ve heard in years, one that has evoked comparisons to Sade and Blue Lines-era Massive Attack, and racked up a number of “Best Of” awards (including many mentions in VH1′s Best 10 Albums of 2012).

Music Seen: 3 Days Of Music + Food + Fun At Live In The Vineyard (PHOTOS)

live_in_the_vineyard_music_seen

Nothing pairs better with wine than music in our opinion – well, a little food to stuff our face holes doesn’t hurt either. Live In The Vineyard had the best of all three last weekend in Napa, CA. New Kids On The Block popped their acoustic show cherry, Jim Shearer plotted to “kidnap” Tegan & Sara and newcomer Ginny Blackmore sang a beautiful cover of Rihanna’s ”Stay” in a cave. Read more…

Music Seen: Hunter Hayes Makes City Girls Swoon

Hunter Hayes Music Seen

He may not have won Best New Artist at this year’s Grammy Awards, but it’s safe to say Hunter Hayes broke more than a few hearts during his trip to New York earlier this month. The breakout country star made a visit to the VH1 offices for some pre-Grammy interviews with Carrie Keagan on Big Morning Buzz Live and yours truly here at Tuner, as well as performed for several adoring fans throughout New York’s Times Square.

Music Seen: Olly Murs Charms His Way Through New York City

Olly Murs YOK Music Seen

If you’re not familiar with Olly Murs from his charismatic performances on The X Factor UK or genre-bending tracks with the likes of Flo Rida and Chiddy Bang currently climbing the charts, it’s time to get acquainted. Our You Oughta Know artist for the month of February is prepping for a full-blown U.S. takeover in 2013, which began last year when he opened for fellow U.K. act One Direction. Having honed his craft in front of both screaming girls and Simon Cowell, Olly’s drawing serious crowds in his own right thanks to his massive stage presence, throwback sound, and undeniable charm. He’s also a good enough sport to subject himself to our rounds of questioning and photo shoot requests.

We were lucky enough to spend the day with the up-and-comer here in New York City, before his sold-out gig at  Irving Plaza. VH1′s fearless photographer Lauren Weissler was on hand to capture every moment, from makeup touch-ups to pre-show rituals, and we’ve got all the special stuff down below, ready for your enjoyment.
