Fall Out Boy Announces New Album, Upcoming Tour, And A Friendship With 2 Chainz

Fall Out Boy New Song, Album, Tour

Further proof that 2013 is the year all of your former musical flames decided to reconvene in the studio: Fall Out Boy is recording new music in effort to save rock and roll. Sorry if you were cool with Mumford and Sons raking in all the non-pop and non-hip-hop accolades, but these guys have other plans:

when we were kids the only thing that got us through most days was music. its why we started fall out boy in the first place. this isn’t a reunion because we never broke up. we needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us.

the future of fall out boy starts now.

save rock and roll…

After solo and side projects the band has completed their first group effort since 2008’s Folie à Deux. And today’s news about a forthcoming full-length album (Save Rock and Roll, out May 7) does not merely serve to gauge our interest–cough TIMBERLAKE cough–as the group comes bearing gifts, in the form of a new track, music video, and a string of live shows this spring.

Be It Sad Or Happy, A New Drake Song Is Coming Soon

Drake Releasing New Song February 2013

Start preparing for Grammy Night right this very minute; it’s going to be a marathon. According to Billboard, Drake will drop “Started From the Bottom,” the first single from his upcoming third album, on Sunday, February 10. While he’s far from disappeared since wrapping up promotion for 2011’s Take Care, his name has spent a lot of time on the right side of the “featuring” credit lately. He’s also put a number of hours in at strip clubs and pool party videos, so we have to ask: Will the new material come from Sad Drake or Happy Drake?

Justin Bieber Is Sad And Singing About Selena Gomez On “Nothing Like Us”

Justin Bieber Spills on Selena Gomez in "Nothing Like Us"

With a SNL double-bill on the horizon and plenty of hazy rumors in his rear-view, Justin Bieber has been at the center of many questions in recent months and even promised to give us some answers with his latest album. Moving away from the closed-off “swaggy adult” that was depicted in last year’s GQ profile, Bieber’s intimate one-on-one conversation for the cover of Billboard is the first and only interview he’s done for Believe Acoustic (out Jan. 29) and seems to have produced the best results yet. Something he reiterates–and something that gets forgotten all too frequently–is the fact that he’s 18 years old, and will hurt and react just like anyone else at that age. “I’m not in the happiest place that I’ve ever been. I’m trying to get through what I’m going through,” he says, speaking of what can only be the breakup of The Greatest Couple of Our Time (or of the last two years). “I have my really close friends to cheer me up and keep me going,” he adds, confirming our suspicions that a recent “Cry Me a River” cover and sluggish live show all circle back to one person. But before we can coronate Bieber as the most mature pop star on the planet, leave some room in your brain space to picture him slapping the butt of his interview partner.

Save The Date: A New Vampire Weekend Album Is Coming In May

Vampire Weeekend Announce New Album May 7

There is light at the end of this cold, cruel winter, namely in the form of a new Vampire Weekend album. Rejoice! It’s been way too long, yes? Vampire Weekend’s third album will be released on May 6 or 7, the Columbia grads have announced via their website, home to all things VDub as well as awesome re-imagined versions of George Washington crossing the Delaware.  The still untitled LP will be their first since 2010’s Contra, and the lengthy wait may have tortured those of you who have become accustomed to Rihanna-like release schedules. But, as Ezra Koenig (and Cheryl Cole) will tell us, sometimes you have to fight for things you love. In this context “fight” means “respectfully wishing and hoping,” in case that wasn’t clear.

Justin Timberlake Makes 2013 Better With The Release Of “Suit and Tie” And Plans For A New Album

Justin Timberlake Releases "Suit and Tie"

After tricking us with a Twitter stunt last week, Justin Timberlake dropped his latest musical offering just before midnight on Monday, catching the lingering Golden Globes crowd on Twitter just in time to launch an onslaught of mixed reactions about his decision to make music his priority once again. Like Destiny’s Child‘s latest song “Nuclear”, Timberlake’s new song “Suit and Tie” didn’t instantly grab us and transport us to a world of magical Timbaland beats and inventive blends of pop, R&B and soul, but it is a welcomed return filled with slick grooves and familiar musings on style, sex and having a good time.

Madonna’s Forthcoming Album Now Has A Name: M.D.N.A

The first thing we thought of when we heard the title of Madonna‘s forthcoming album, M.D.N.A, was the party drug MDMA, so if it’s edgy and “down with the kids” Mads is going for with the title, then we guess she succeeded. More likely it’s just a play on “Madonna” (sound out the letters and it sort of sounds like you’re saying “Madonna” with a mouthful of food), but Pop Dust have laid out some pretty good speculation as to the inspiration behind the moniker. It feels like the hype around Madonna’s triumphant return is gaining momentum with every passing day, and we’re thinking when the album drops next month it will go off with a massive bang. Here’s to leaked tracks, Nicki Minaj collaborations and Super Bowl half time shows — the year of M.D.N.A!
