The last two days were a bit of a whirlwind in HANSON land, consisting of a two-day immersion in the epic Dancing With The Stars TV show. We had a great time being guests on the show two nights in a row and pulled out some old school and new school HANSON, from “MmmBop” To “Give a Little,” and also pulled together some random tidbits from pop culture past ranging from Quiet Riot to Vanilla Ice. We really had a great time, everyone on the show was welcoming, and it made for a great couple days of epic TV (and some serious tassel shaking). Here are a few snapshots from rehearsal and backstage. Enjoy!
If you’re ever asked, “Hey, name me two great tastes that taste great together!”, chances are you’ll say something like “chocolate and peanut butter” or, if you’re a traditionalist, “peanut butter and jelly.” Well, it’s a little known fact that there’s another appropriate response to that line of questioning: headbangers and porn stars!
Both were on full display in Los Angeles last night, where hard rock’s elite and some of the finest denizens of the San Fernando Valley converged for the 3rd Annual Revolver Golden God Awards, which will air in the coming weeks on VH1 Classic. Host Chris Jericho, who you’ll recognize as a familiar talking head on VH1 (in addition to being a singer and wrestler), presided over the raucous affair, which hosted performances by recent RRHOF inductee Alice Cooper, Sebastian Bach, former Guns N’ Roses bassist (and Playboy’s current financial columnist!) Duff McKagan, and more. Meanwhile, the red carpet was a metalhead’s dream come true: Celebrity Rehab 2 alum Steven Adler, Motley Crue, Dave Navarro and more crossed paths with adult film stars like Jenna Haze and Sasha Grey. And yes, as promised in the headline, William Shatner made an appearance, too!
If you?re a fan of music, you know very well that the music industry can sometimes serve up one-dimensional talent. Vocalists. Songwriters. Producers. Entertainers. The ?flavor-of-the-week.? They excel at one thing very well, and God bless ‘em, they make an exceptional living doing so. However, as Cee Lo Green soared through his body of musical work during last night?s VH1 Storytellers taping at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, it became clear to us (as well as a room full of diehard fans) that his talents are much more multi-faceted than your run-of-the-mill chart-topper. Donning a white shirt covered in sparkles, and surrounded by a kick-ass, all-female band, the man of the hour actively did what he does best: connect with his audience.
Visibly excited, Cee Lo?s carefully-planned set allowed him to present his stories with true richness and delicate authenticity. And it makes sense; since the inception of his career, Green?s song-writing has been deeply rooted in his personal life, reflecting everything from his spiritual beliefs to whimsical sexual quips to torturous anguish. Starting his narrative somewhat chronologically, Cee Lo journeyed back to his Dungeon Family roots, bringing out Big Gipp, Khujo and T-Mo — fellow members of his early career group, Goodie Mob — to perform. Together, they disclosed detailed and passionate song inspirations, nodded at their career?s humble beginnings, and (ZOMG!) announced the group?s forthcoming reunion.
As you know, Hanson is our VH1 Posted artist for the month of April. This missive just arrived in our inbox a few moments ago, straight from Taylor’s mobile device. We’ll let him take it from here. Taylor, the floor is yours…
While running all over the country spreading the word about the new record/single “Give A Little” (Ed. Note — Watch the video!), we made a not so painful stop in Napa Valley for the Live in The Vineyard event, which included other artists like Marc Broussard, Lenny Kravitz and Michael Franti (plus our friend Michelle Branch who stopped in for a hang and some vino). I caught a few random pics during the daylight hours and our stop at the Monticello Winery … Ike might have bought 12 bottles. It was a long night.
Continue along for more snaps of this excursion, sent to us direct from the Hanson fellas!
The main thrust of our annual Hip Hop Honors show is simple. Great music was made a long time ago, so we make more great music to salute both its impact and endurance. Celebration is in the air because artists are getting well-deserved recognition. From the red carpet frenzy to the audience shout-alongs to the after-party chatter, everyone?s hyped because their favorite MCs are in the center ring, getting the props that they?ve truly earned. All night long, it?s all about a little thing called joy.
You could feel it from the way that Busta Rhymes was getting hugged by others on the carpet. You could feel it by the way Kid Rock was laughing in the lounge with the Sugarhill Gang?s Wonder Mike. You could feel it by the way Fat Joe shook his rump in the ballroom?s mezzanine during Slick Rick?s ?La Di Da Di.? Someone asked De La Soul’s DJ Mase how he felt when the trio was arriving at the start of the evening. ?Just like Campbell?s soup,? he said, ?MMM, MMM good.?
There were lots of on-stage highlights, and in the next few days we?re going to offer up some performance clips so you can get psyched for this Monday night, when the show premieres on VH1 at 10 pm. ET. Tomorrow, Friday, there will be load of photos from the festivities here in the blog, and on our Hip Hop Honors site.
Here are a few things to be on the look out for when you tune-in on Monday night.
1. All the energy that bounds around the room when Cypress Hill and their pals Mack 10, Gym Class Heroes, and Fat Joe blast through ?The Phuncky Feel One? and ?Insane in the Brain.? Now that?s the way to start a show.
2. The Strong Island camaraderie of Public Enemy?s Chuck D and Flavor Flav kicking their way through ?Stakes is High? during the De La part of the show. Earlier in the night Flav told me it was great to bounce rhymes off of Chuck again.
3. The way Gnarls Barkley?s Cee-lo did his best crooning routine in a heartfelt nod to the late Isaac Hayes during ?The Look of Love.? It was mellow enough to picture him singing it while sporting a smoking jacket and pipe.
4. The whole joint rocking a collective ?Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na? when De La Soul commanded the audience to fill in the refrain to the forever exuberant ?Me, Myself and I.?
5. Luther Campbell putting his whole heart into a fervent intro of Too $hort. Any crew would be lucky to have Mr. Parental Advisory as a hype man.
6. Eve singing about that slice of pizza in Slick Rick?s ?Mona Lisa.?
There’s lots of other cool stuff, too, of course. Keep your eye on the blog. It’s coming

BritBrit had a major meltdown in sister Jamie-Lynn‘s delivery room last week, while her sis was trying to push out her daughter. J-L was determined to have a natural birth, but when doctors discovered that the baby’s umbilical cord was too short, they began pushing for a C-section. But Jamie-Lynn, being the stubborn Spears that she is, insisted on pushing that sucker out vaginally. Guess who didn’t like that idea! Britney of course, who screamed, “Just have a damn Caesarian,” before storming out the delivery room in tears. Yes, even as her sister gives birth, it’s all about her. [Star]
Brit continued her quest for a hot bod and hit up the gym on Tuesday, perhaps to blow off some steam. If she wants to lose weight, she should just cut off that monster on top of her head. That ponytail probably clocks in at 20 pounds!
Last night’s BET Awards show was a kick-ass house party, a fashion show, and a hip-hop reunion all in one! Keyshia Cole and Rihanna looked fierce in yellow, and even Little Mama‘s bizarre kiddie dress was totally precious. Also, En Vogue! T-Boz and Chilli! Swoon. The night was one big exclamation point!!! Pics below.
It seems like Diddy has a different A-list hottie on his arm each month. We thought women were attracted to him because he’s a super-savvy businessman who throws great parties and practices tantric sex. But we didn’t know that he had another trick up his pants sleeve: waxed privates! Diddy has played the field for so long that it’s hard to keep track of his sex buddies. Can you guess which of the women below have had contact with Diddy’s immaculately groomed body? Click each thumbnail for answers.
