Metallica To Reissue Legendary ‘No Life ‘Til Leather’ Demo For The First Time Since 1982

Record Store Day will bring something extra special for metalheads and Metallica fans this year as the Holy Grail of all metal demos is set to be officially reissued for the first time since 1982. Recorded with their original lineup, which featured future Megadeth mastermind Dave Mustaine and bassist Ron McGovney, the No Life ’til Leather demo made the band’s reputation in underground heavy metal tape trading circles and laid the foundation for the thrash uprising to follow. On April 18th, it will see release once again as a special limited edition replica of the original cassette, before being reissued on vinyl and CD this summer as part of an ambitious reissue program.

Chuck D From Public Enemy Talks About Being This Year’s Record Store Day Ambassador

This Saturday April 19th marks the return of Record Store Day, the annual holiday that encourages music fans to get out and support their local independent music retailers and pick up some of the limited edition goodies specially released for the day. The first Record Store Day was in 2007 and starting in 2009 each year has had an “Ambassador” to help spread the word and talk about how record stores serve a vital function in any healthy music scene. Saturday Is Record Store Day

This Saturday, April 16, Record Store Day celebrates four years of promoting brick and mortar, non-corporate-owned music sellers. Since 2008, an increasing number of artists on both independent and major labels have concocted exclusive releases and recordings and made them available for sale only through independent record stores on the third Saturday of April, as a means of helping them continue to survive in today’s complex retail landscape (dominated by big box stores and digital downloads). In conjunction, many shops host in-store performances or giveaways. There’s always a good reason to visit your favorite local independent record store, but Record Store Day’s exclusives and artist appearances provide a hefty additional incentive.
