Rock on TV – The Shortlist

Perez HiltonJonesing for music on your television set? Well, you?ve come to the right place! Check out our shortlist below. For more extensive listings, read VH1?s Rock on TV schedule daily.

Biography: Simon Cowell, 9 a.m. (EST), The Biography Channel: Just because British people can say things like “pish-posh” without being clowny doesn’t mean they’ve got critical opinions sharper than Ginsu knives and standards higher than the CNN Tower. But Simon Cowell isn’t most British people. If you’re the masochistic type of pop-culture junkie, this documentary about the king of the *ssholes ought to be right up your alley. And that it’s on at 9 a.m. is doubly exciting! You can be super irritated before breakfast!

What Perez Says About the VMAs, 9 p.m. (EST), VH1: The Internet’s Gossip Gangster comes to our fair network tonight, bringing his green-haired commentary to the state of music’s latest award-winners. This is the first of a series of specials starring Hilton, in which he’ll attack . . . er, bring his insider knowledge and expertise to bear on a variety of subjects that are all celebrity related. The self-proclaimed Queen of All Media is the snarky sort. What Perez Says . . . will include lots of interviews, which proves that celebs are tougher than people give them credit for. Can’t wait to hear him talk about that Britney Spears performance. Our ears are burning already.

Britney Spears Goes For the Man Meat

She may have forgotten how to dance and lipsync, but at least Brit’s still good at some of her old tricks. And doesn’t this dude look a tad like JT?

Vanessa Hudgens’ Sexy Naked Pics Are Real

Vanessa Hudgens Nude PhotosHigh School Musical star and alleged good girl Vanessa Hudgens has admitted that the pics of her posing naked that popped up all over the internet yesterday are indeed real. Hurray! We love a good naked picture scandal, especially from a Disney Channel star. We’ll steer clear of posting the pics on The VH1 Blog, but you can check them out here (NSFW!) and also view some more sexy underwear shots (again – NSFW) that Vanessa took of herself. Vanessa’s career may be screwed, but her boyfriend sure is lucky. And now, thanks to the magic of the internet, so are we. [Images: Getty]

Rock on TV – The Shortlist

Fashion-Rocks-on-CBSJonesing for music on your television set? You?ve come to the right place, rockers! Check out our shortlist below. For more extensive listings, read our Rock on TV schedule daily.

Fashion Rocks, 9 p.m. (EST), CBS: It doesn’t get much more fabulous than this, folks. Tonight, style leaders and fashion victims alike gather to celebrate the best crossovers between the worlds of clothing and music-making. Scheduled to perform are a whole host of people who embody rock and R&B, bottom-liners who are equally respected for their tough business noses. Expect to see Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Usher and Maroon 5. Also expect to see Fergie. Also expect to see some very expensive clothing, and plenty of people aspiring to be Anna Wintour. We doubt they’ll succeed.

Trapped in the Closet, 9 p.m. (EST), IFC: Even R. Kelly couldn’t explain the continuing evolution of his R&B soap. At its premiere, he called the serial “an alien,” which seems appropriate, since aliens are also things that have been both much loved and also much maligned (not to mention terribly lampooned) since their introduction to pop culture. No mind! Here IFC plays the entire hip-hopera, chapters 1-22, so that you can get a handle on all the drama. If you can’t wait, IFC is screening selections from it now on their Web site, too.

The Italian Job, 5 p.m. (EST), FX: Marky Mark Wahlberg stars in this hyper-extended Mini-Cooper commercial, which, as it turns out, was actually a remake. The movie’s about about Vince Chase . . . er, Marky Mark, sorry, as he seeks revenge against the evil Ed Norton for killing Donald Sutherland. Mos Def shows up, too. The movie’s based on the 1969 Michael Caine vehicle of the same name. It’s really good, so long as you’re trapped on a plane and can’t move for like eight hours. Jet Blue wins again! (Sidebar: There’s a sequel coming. Can’t wait for ’09, kids.)

Three Kings, 7:30 p.m. (EST), FX: It’s Marky Mark night on FX, apparently, because this David O. Russell film follows the Mini-Cooper spot above. The flick stars Ice Cube, George Clooney and Spike Jonze (the Beastie Boys’ video director who you might remember from Being John Malkovich) as soldiers in Iraq, arguing over buried treasure. This is one of the best films of the ’90s, and if you haven’t seen it, we recommend you do. You’ll be happier for it.

Boys to Men: Mission: Man Band Episode 5 Recap

Mission: Man Band
Fame is a cruel mistress, but the anticipation of fame can be a real deal-breaker. When Bryan‘s wife Kim came to visit the Man Band house, she found herself surrounded by the 14 beautiful female dancers the men were auditioning for their performance at Miami nightclub Mansion. Despite how fit, toned and tanned everyone appeared, it wasn’t pretty. Kim’s jealousy manifested in a massive load of guilt for Bryan. The fewer clothes on the back-up dancers, the more guilt for our beleaguered Man Bander.

Rock on TV – The Shortlist

Heavy: The Story of Metal: Welcome to My Nightmare, 8 p.m. (EST), VH1 Classic: We know what you want. We know what you need. We know what you crave . . . because we crave it, too. You know what we’re talking about. That’s right: We’re talking about metal. Heavy metal. Glam metal. Sludge metal. Death metal. British metal. Hair metal. Speed metal. Clown metal. Post-modern metal. Underoo metal. Folk metal. It doesn’t matter to us — any sort of metal will do. Tonight, we continue to help shorten the country’s attention span by reviewing the past 40 years in the heaviest rock around with this series of documentaries. Break out the assless chaps and sheepskin-lined jean-jacket, underachievers. Get ready to rock all. night. long.

The Henry Rollins Show, 11 p.m. (EST), IFC: The buff former Black Flag frontman (and one-time ice-cream vendor!) treats audiences to some political conversation with Ariana Huffington and a musical performance by Sinead O’Connor. One time, a long time ago, Sinead tore up a picture of the pope on national television. It was a very big deal back then. These days she’s exploring a more Rastafarian vibe. If you can dig it, we suggest you hang.
