Newsted615

The TMS Top 5 is an institution on That Metal Show. Each week fans tune in to see Eddie, Jim and Don weigh-in and argue about such important subjects as The Top 5 Black Sabbath Riffs and The Top 5 Iron Maiden Albums. This season we’re moving the debate online. Each week we’ll be posting a new topic and the boys picks and then we’ll let the fans vote to decide which choices come out on top.

This week in honor of the season 12 premiere episode guest we’re asking you to vote for your favorite Jason Newsted Era Metallica Albums. From his full-length debut on 1988’s …And Justice For All (and yes we know his recorded debut was on The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re-Revisited EP, but that’s an EP, not an album) through their self-titled commercial breakthrough and up through the controversial S&M album, Jason laid down the bass on some of the band’s most well known and best-loved songs.

Check out Eddie, Jim and Don’s picks and then you can vote for your favorites albums below.  You can vote as many times for as many different albums as you like and see where they rate.  Don’t forget to check back every week for more TMS Top 5 countdowns and watch That Metal Show on VH1 Classic every Saturday night at 11/10C!

It can be any person from the classic years of hard rock and heavy metal.? When you write, MENTION WHAT CITY YOU’RE FROM, too. They might even use your question on the show, so keep sending in requests!

Piazza Takes On Axl: That Metal Show

A new anecdote just in time for the radically-tardy Chinese Democracy: Mike Piazza‘s story about how he confronted Axl Rose at a Guns N’ Roses “meet and greet” backstage at New York show eight years ago.? Seems the former Mets catcher was miffed because Axl was wearing every NY sports team’s jersey onstage ‘cept for you know who. Seems that Piazza was in high spirits. Seems that…oh you should hear him ‘splain the story himself.

It’s part of the latest edition of VH1 Classic‘s That Metal Show, a weekly confab that finds three loud rock crazies kicking around ideas and visiting bands on the road. This week the guys also spend some quality time with AC/DC.

Watch the entire show above.

Watch a list of videos by bands talked about in the show, including KISS, Slayer, Metallica and others.

VH1 Metal Boys Punk Van Halen Fans

We knew the hosts of That Metal Show were wiseasses, but we didn’t know they’d punk a bunch of poor old Van Halen fans. They did, though. And it’s rather hilarious, especially if you think innocent French tourists are decent targets for ridicule.

That Metal Show, starring Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine, and Don Jamieson, is a new item on the VH1 Classic roster. It airs every Saturday at 11 pm ET.
