Demi Lovato Has Twitter Beef With God

God? Are you there? It’s me, Demi! Pop star Demi Lovato has taken to her Twitter to vent her frustration at God. Is she going through some traumatic times? We know Demi’s had some troubles with her health in the past, and after her stint in rehab we hope that she’s making a speedy recovery. Despite calling out God for his/her absence in her Tweets, Demi still has an overall air of positivity — one of the reasons we love her so much — and her final Tweet of the bunch (Frank Ocean “Swim Good” inspired perhaps?) left us with a sense that everything is going to be OK, and even we took some inspiration for ourselves! See the Tweets we’re talking about below.

Beef Part 2: Nickelback Responds To The Black Keys’ Diss

The latest rock beef came this week in the form of The Black Keys‘ Patrick Carney spouting completely unprovoked vitriol at Nickelback, including, “Rock & roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world,” in a rather malicious rant in a Rolling Stone interview. The attack seemed petty at the time, and now seems pettier still given Nickelback’s response.

The band Tweeted yesterday, “Thanks to the drummer in the Black Keys calling us the Biggest Band in the World in Rolling Stone. Hehe,” and it seems like not only are Nickelback taking the insult on the chin, they’re taking a novel approach to beefing — not taking it so seriously. No matter what your opinion of Nickelback, it’s clear the guys have a sense of humor, and we’re giving them a standing ovation for their jokey spin on the comments, and for not engaging in a back and forth slanging match.

6 Reasons Why You Must Know Azealia Banks Right This Instant

If you’re not familiar with 20-year-old Harlem rapper Azealia Banks, now’s the time to get acquainted. She released her first track, “Seventeen,” back in 2009 (which was produced by one of her biggest fans and supporters, Diplo), but the hype didn’t really start building around Banks until last year. With her brand of aggressive, dance led rap, reminiscent of East London’s garage scene, Banks is kicking up a storm in the music world, taking girl rap back to the no-holds barred days when we first met the potty mouthed Lil Kim. Except that Banks is a little bit ruder, and much more raw. There are a million reasons why you need to know Azealia Banks right this instant, but here are the top 6:

1. “212″
Banks got a lot of attention for her 2011 release “212,” which was one of the biggest, most critically acclaimed tracks of the winter. Half dance club, half rap, “212″ is unavoidably infectious, and comes with a generous helping of dirty words. Watch the video for “212″ here.

2. The Cool List
NME put Banks at number one on their Cool List in 2011. Out of 50 musicians, that’s no mean feat for the newcomer. And we definitely don’t disagree with the decision — Banks has that “cool without even trying” nonchalant defiance about her.

Kanye West’s Epic 1,600 Word Twitter Rant: The Complete Text, Neatly Organized For Your Reading Pleasure

Does your brain seize up when you try to read things in reverse chronological order, like in a Twitter timeline? Ours certainly does. So, when Kanye West went on a Twitter rant during the wee hours of the morning, the first thing we thought was “Gee, wouldn’t it be nice if someone organized these 80+ tweets into something actually sorta legible, you know with paragraph breaks and the like?” So, with that in mind, we did it for you. You’re welcome. (BOLD EMPHASIS OURS.)

I love being back at my fashion office learning and creating. It’s so challenging and fun and I’m surrounded by amazing people.

They say you only live once but every time I come to work I feel like I’m starting a second life. You guys might think I have some type of backing for my line but I don’t. I did the first fashion show out of my own pocket and used the money I made touring to follow my passion.

I’ve been working at this for 8 years now …from the first offers to do urban clothing lines that I turned down…To begging Bape to do my line and never making any real headway…To having an office in LA that was shut down after the “MTV” moment along with my tour with GAGA.

50 Cent Takes His Beef With His Record Label To Twitter, Releases Mix Tape

Rapper 50 Cent is no stranger to success; all four of his already released albums garnered healthy doses of commercial success. His first album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, released in 2003, sold eight million copies, making it the fourth biggest selling hip hop album of all-time in the USA. The Massacre, released in 2005, sold 1.14 million copies in its first week, which makes it the sixth fastest-selling album since 1991 (when SoundScan began compiling sales data), and 2007′s Curtis sold 1.3 million copies. However, his 2009 joint Before I Self Destruct, only managed to sell 436,000 copies, and now it seems that his record label is losing confidence in his current project. Over the New Year holiday, 50 Cent took to Twitter to complain about Interscope letting him down. At 4:11 am on the 31st of December, 50 tweeted, “I got 3,500,000 views in 3 day on hands up. Ok I need a record deal jimmy iovine , call me early tomorrow or I’m putting out another mix tape.” Later the same day, 50 Cent reiterated his frustration and disappointment on Twitter:

Adam Lambert’s Holiday Gift To The Glamberts? A New Single!

YESSSSSS! We have barely been able to breathe for the last 12 hours or so, ever since Adam Lambert sent out this tweet earlier this morning: “Countdown begins…. 12 hrs until a big unveiling….” All day, we’ve been pacing around the office, staring at our watches every couple of minutes, constantly refreshing our Twitter feed, wondering what the one and only Glambert was going to offer up to us. Would it be a special holiday video message to his fans? News that he’s joining Queen on a full-time basis? A picture of him wearing nothing but a piece of mistletoe?

Well, it ended up being none of those things, but we’re not complaining because guess what? A NEW SINGLE IS ON THE WAY! Adam just dropped the cover art for his new song, “Better Than I Know Myself,” on Twitter and announced that “it drops on December 20th! avail on all digital music providers. Happy Holidays!!” We haven’t heard Adam’s version of this track yet, but we’re huge fans of the demo of this song that Claude Kelly cut back in 2009. This song was written by Dr. Luke and Claude, both of whom has a history with Glambert; they co-wrote the title track off Adam’s 2009 debut, For Your Entertainment. (Most versions of “Better Than I Know Myself” have been scraped off the Internet, but if you search hard enough, you’ll be able to find it.)

We’re going to do our best to stay calm until Adam’s release of “Better Than I Know Myself” in six days, but until then, check out his full cover art below!

Adele Poses With Beyonce, Takes Over Her Own Twitter Account

OK, OK, so a more apt title would have been Adele poses with PICTURE of Beyoncé, but what can we say? We got so excited about the prospect of the divas together we even started making them moniker mash-ups like Beydele and Adeloncé. After taking over her own Twitter account (!), Adele posted a photo of herself posing with Beyoncé’s Live At Roseland DVD poster, adding, “I’m in bed, watchin Gladiator, eatin an apple. Heres a pic of me & Queen B last wk in NYC! X.” And she looks hawt (that’s extra hot) as she mimics Bey’s seductive pose. The Twitpic is making us love Adele even more — here’s the world’s number one superstar unaffectedly fan-girling over the world’s other number one superstar. It doesn’t get much more real than that.

Nicki Minaj Turns Herself Into The Female Weezy In Birdman’s “Y.U. Mad” Video

In the first line of Birdman‘s new track “Y. U. Mad,” Nicki Minaj declares “I am the female Weezy,” and in the video she’s wearing waist length dreadlocks, a wife beater and army fatigues, doing a pretty accurate Lil Wayne impersonation. For the rest of her scenes though, Nicki does what Nicki does best in a bondage style onesie that leaves little to the imagination. Meanwhile, Weezy is dressed in a crazy fur hat as some futuristic love child of a rap influenced skater boy and a pill popping rave attendee, while Birdman drives around in a nifty car, is surrounded by piles of money and some bikini clad women giving the camera suspiciously sexy glances.

The track itself is a roof shaker, with a dirty, heavy bass and Nicki’s chorus “that’s why you’re mad, that’s why you’re why you’re mad mad,” is hopelessly catchy. We’re thinking Nicki makes the song, her abrasive, throaty raps just perfect for the apocalyptic, oppressive bass line. The decadent visuals and flashing lights just add to the drama of the beat, making the topic of the song, the reign of Birdman, Nicki and Wayne, although unexpected, completely convincing. Although we’re still not entirely sure why super famous/rich celebrities have to sing about being super famous/rich all the time, calling out their haters based on jealousy — surely being super famous/rich is enough to allay their insecurities? The “pop ya collar” concept, in short, is getting a little tired.

And it’s got us wondering, given that over the weekend Nicki and her boyfriend Safaree Samuels got into a much talked about Twitter argument with Cher, if Nicki isn’t really just giving the middle finger here. Although maybe Cher isn’t Nicki’s intended target, the tweet-fight certainly resonates with “Y. U. Mad,” so we’re increasingly inclined to ask Nicki that exact question. Why you mad, Nicki dear?

Has Lady Gaga Gone Mental For Real? No, It’s Just The First Still From Her “Marry The Night” Video (Allegedly)!

Last night, we reported on the Tweet that had Lady Gaga fans in a tizz, as Mother Monster promised a “Twitter surprise” for her followers. And the Lady did not disappoint, tweeting a picture of herself on a stretcher flanked by two nurses in what seems to be some kind of fantasy mental institution (above). The picture was simply captioned “It’s Not that I’ve been Dishonest, It’s Just that I Loathe Reality.”

According to internet chatter, the image is the first still from Gaga’s eagerly anticipated “Marry The Night” video, which she’s boasted will be her longest video yet. From the look of the still, we’re guessing it may just be a little bit surreal, chanelling the uncanny and the absurd in celebration of ambiguous Gagaism. And we’re hoping the crazy, out-of-this-world costumes LG’s been wearing to promote the single in live performances, like at the MTV EMA’s where she sang atop a synthetic moon, will make a reappearance in the forthcoming video.

Avril Lavigne And Boyfriend Brody Jenner Get Beat Up By Some H8R Bois

Enjoying a night out on the town in Hollywood over the weekend, pop-star Avril Lavigne and boyfriend Brody Jenner were allegedly jumped by five random assailants outside of the Roosevelt Hotel and beaten up. Avril tweeted about the incident, saying “I don’t fight. I don’t believe in it. To clear things up I got attacked by 5 people last night out of nowhere. Not cool. My face is f—d.” She then went on to announce she had a “… Black eye, bloody nose, hair ripped out, scratches, bruises and cuts. So not ok to be abusive to others. Violence is NEVER the answer.”

This is the second pop star beatdown to occur over the last few months. As you’ll recall, friend of VH1 Gavin DeGraw was assaulted by a group of thugs after a late night in New York City. We’re not sure why hooligans have suddenly decided to concentrate their efforts on Top 40 mainstays, but we suggest that everyone who currently has a single in the iTunes Top 100 (or, for that matter, loose ties to the Kardashian clan) take extra security with them when you hit the club for the forseeable future.
