Fall Out Boy Announces New Album, Upcoming Tour, And A Friendship With 2 Chainz

Fall Out Boy New Song, Album, Tour

Further proof that 2013 is the year all of your former musical flames decided to reconvene in the studio: Fall Out Boy is recording new music in effort to save rock and roll. Sorry if you were cool with Mumford and Sons raking in all the non-pop and non-hip-hop accolades, but these guys have other plans:

when we were kids the only thing that got us through most days was music. its why we started fall out boy in the first place. this isn’t a reunion because we never broke up. we needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us.

the future of fall out boy starts now.

save rock and roll…

After solo and side projects the band has completed their first group effort since 2008′s Folie à Deux. And today’s news about a forthcoming full-length album (Save Rock and Roll, out May 7) does not merely serve to gauge our interest–cough TIMBERLAKE cough–as the group comes bearing gifts, in the form of a new track, music video, and a string of live shows this spring.

Justin Timberlake’s New Songs: Heavy On LoveSounds, Light On FutureSex

Justin Timberlake Performs in New Orleans

While Beyoncé captivated our attention and manipulated all our senses there was other music to be heard in New Orleans over the weekend. Justin Timberlake was the entertainment of choice at bajillionaire Mark Cuban’s DirecTV party on Saturday night, jumping ahead of his Grammy performance by seven days because no one in this world likes to stick to previously announced dates. JT took the stage as a featured solo performer for the first time in years–excluding pop-up performances at his BBQ joint–debuting “Suit & Tie” live (with Jay-Z!) and revealing two more new songs from his upcoming album, The 20/20 Experience. Yes, the flawless, throwback wardrobe helps, but at this point it seems hard for Justin Timberlake to convey any other than an effortless cool (MySpace projects included).

What Questions Do We Want Justin Bieber To Answer On Believe Acoustic?

Justin Bieber's Believe Acoustic Will Answer Questions

Upon first hearing about Justin Bieber‘s Believe Acoustic, dropping this Tuesday, the album sounded like a quickly processed collection of more intimate takes on some of his biggest songs. “Boyfriend,” undone, “As Long As You Love Me” like its dubstep fathers never intended it to be, and so on. Reissues are a thing of now, and who better than the Bieb to get in on the potential profits held within? Still, we were more intrigued to hear that the album will potentially–we say with caution, as Justin has a history of pranking us–contain some new material, stuff that Bieber promises will be the (musical?) solutions to the many uncertainties that keep us up at night:

now #6DAYS until i answer all the questions – #BELIEVEacoustic#COUNTDOWN#6DAYS

Laugh all you want, but there really are some! Whether it’s the mark of a slow news day or a true attempt to bring down the Bieb and the swaggy empire he’s built in just six years, tabloids seem to love cooking up kooky stories involving everyone’s favorite 18-year-old fondue enthusiast. But even the most ridiculous stories got us thinking: with all that’s been written, tweeted and gossiped about the Canadian star, what are we most curious to hear straight from his mouth (and the acoustic guitar of Dan Kanter)? He’s already addressed the headlines that rocked 2011 on Believe–right, Maria(h)?–so here are a few OTHER ideas…

Justin Timberlake’s New Album Has A Release Date! And It’s Soon!

Justin Timberlake Announces Album Release Date

First a lyric video that shows an almost equal amount of words to suave shots of a certain someone getting their sexy back (again), and now a release date that’s less than two months away?! JT, you’re spoiling us. Justin Timberlake‘s third album, The 20/20 Experience, will be released on March 19, something those with killer eyesight and concentration most likely caught during their first viewing of  the new “Suit & Tie” clip. The date flashes onscreen at the tail end of the video, coming and going very, very quickly (around 5:20). But since it’s part of an official product created by the man himself, we have no choice to believe him. And be outrageously, perhaps irrationally, excited about it.

Don’t Get Too Excited About Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP Just Yet

Zedd Talks About Lady Gaga's ARTPOPNext up on this week’s conveyor belt of crushing disappointments (if you happen to be a patriotic Bey stan and Cruel Summer apologist who is also a bit of a monster): There won’t be new Lady Gaga music any time soon. What? Then why did I watch Mother Monster ruin perfectly good cake? Despite the promise of a third album from Gaga in the new year, MTV News has learned that ARTPOP is taking longer than originally planned. It’s still on its way, we’ll just need to wait a while–something we happen to have experience with.

Our friends across the dial spoke with Zedd, the 23-year-old producer and EDM artist who opened for Gaga on last year’s Born This Way Ball and has been collaborating with her on a new sound for ARTPOP despite both of their packed schedules. “The problem with her is obviously that I’m busy and I tour a lot, but she’s probably a lot busier than I am, so it’s hard to find time to work on something together,” he explained. “So we’ve been working on it for over a year now. There’s still a lot of work left, so we’re definitely gonna work on this project for the next month.” Isn’t being “busy”–or just flat-out tardy–what caused the Gaga-Kendrick Lamar collaboration to fall apart last fall? EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: No One Misses My So-Called Life As Much As Tegan & Sara

When a great television series is taken out to pasture, where can fans go to mourn together peacefully? Tumblr, for one, but what about the welcoming halls of VH1? We missed Best Week Ever so much we brought it back!

Tegan & Sara were gracious enough to stop by VH1 HQ to chat about their upcoming album Heartthrob–a 2013 release we can’t wait to hear–as well as the ’90s television shows they miss the most, and the vintage fashions they otherwise regret. The music video for lead single “Closer” has a distinct ’90s feel, and the band has previously said it was inspired by one of their favorite shows: the criminally short-lived but eternally beloved, My So-Called Life. Because we’re television junkies around these parts, too, we couldn’t help but ask them to elaborate on their early fascination with Angela, Rickie and Rayanne.

Save The Date: A New Vampire Weekend Album Is Coming In May

Vampire Weeekend Announce New Album May 7

There is light at the end of this cold, cruel winter, namely in the form of a new Vampire Weekend album. Rejoice! It’s been way too long, yes? Vampire Weekend’s third album will be released on May 6 or 7, the Columbia grads have announced via their website, home to all things VDub as well as awesome re-imagined versions of George Washington crossing the Delaware.  The still untitled LP will be their first since 2010′s Contra, and the lengthy wait may have tortured those of you who have become accustomed to Rihanna-like release schedules. But, as Ezra Koenig (and Cheryl Cole) will tell us, sometimes you have to fight for things you love. In this context “fight” means “respectfully wishing and hoping,” in case that wasn’t clear.
