Akon Sings His Apology

Akon22
Akon
has come forward to apologize for that whole underaged girl-humping fiasco – and a bunch of other things – in song. Seriously. The controversial crooner’s new jam leaked on Ryan Seacrest‘s radio show, and you can listen to it here.

There’s no mention of Akon’s stage throw victim, so keep your fingers crossed for a second sappy forgiveness-seeking ballad. And remember, the next time something goes incredibly wrong, put the blame on Akon. It’s what he wants.

Video: Angry Akon Tosses Kid Off Stage

The last time we watched video of Akon he was getting all grind-y onstage with a  15 year-old girl. In these new clips circulating the web, he is seen performing at the KFEST 2007 concert when a young boy in the audience throws something at the Senegalese superstar.  Our hip hop hero then does what anyone would do in that situation.  He instructs his bodyguards to bring the boy up onstage, takes off his shirt, hoists the kid over his shoulder, and hurls him into the crowd, to the sound of hyperventilating fans screaming, "We love you!"

Akon, we’ve learned our lesson.  Your stage is like a 20-foot chunk of the Wild West and you’re Jesse James.  There are no rules, and no one is safe.  One wrong move and you’ll be using your super human strength to bust out nasty dances or chuck someone across the country.  So we’ll just stay away and dance awkwardly in the back corner.  Oh, and keep your shirt on. Please?

Verizon Drops Akon . . . Like a Call

Akon_2 After Akon’s shocking performance simulating sex with a minor on stage under the guise of a dance contest, Verizon has dropped all tour sponsorship of the African chart topper. In a statement to Fox News, a spokersperson said, "This week the partnership ended. We have music services on our cellphone service and we were promoting him as one of the artists. The other part of the sponsorship was the Gwen Stefani tour, of which he was an opening act. We are no longer sponsoring the tour." The tour, which just kicked off in Vegas on April 21, has dates booked through October.

Do you think Verizon should stop supporting Akon?

Watch & Learn: “We Takin’ Over”

Watch & Learn: We peep a video and come up with five things nobody knew.

Boasting more "features" than the shelves of Blockbuster, the video for DJ Khaled‘s "We Takin’ Over" passes the mic between some of the hottest names in hip-hop. T.I.? Akon? Lil’ Wayne? Rick Ross? Fat Joe? Birdman? All present; and all apparently wanted by "The Man." So what happens when you cast rap superstars in what looks like an episode of "Miami Vice?" Here’s what we learned:

Ready for ‘Kon & ‘Clef’s Newgees?

070328_wyclef_akon_2 There have been rumors that Wyclef Jean has grown frustrated with the Fugees and is looking to start up a new band with none other than R&B superstar Akon. The pairing of ‘Clef and ‘Kon would be an island-soul dream team, but would it ever happen? In a recent interview with SOHH, Akon sounded skeptical, but said he would be on board.

It’s fun to speculate who would best complete the trio. The new gal would have to be soulful and sexy, with a killer voice. Kind of like … Nelly Furtado? Gwen Stefani?

Some ladies that Wyclef and Akon wouldn’t have any trouble recruiting are sexy-sister duo Brick and Lace. Cast from the Rhianna-Ciara mold, the young Jamaicans are the first act signed to Akon’s label, "Kon Live" and already have a video for their first single, "Never Never."

Who should be ‘Kon and ‘Clef’s female band member?
