Good Singer, Bad Dancer: 14 Artists With Tremendous Pipes Who Never Quite Figured Out How To Move (GIF WALL)

For every Michael, Beyoncé and Usher, there’s a Christina, Mariah or Rihanna. Try as they might, the latter group of hot pop acts just can’t coordinate that whole singing-while-dancing thing. Their beats and belting may be tight on the radio, but when it comes to rocking dance moves in a music video, even some of the best sirens fall flat. For your amusement, check out these hilarious GIFs (you’re welcome) of crooners we adore who demonstrate some of the worst rump shaking we’ve ever seen. Debate our list in the comments below and, more importantly, let us know whose lack of rhythm we failed to catch.

Mariah Carey - “Shake It Off

Moroccan and Monroe weren’t even zygotes yet, but Mariah looks like she was practicing serious mom moves in this video. Luckily, Mimi’s vocal acrobatics helped us shake off the memory of her awful wannabe thug life bleacher rocking, so all is forgiven.

Who Said It Best: X Factor‘s Britney Spears Vs. The Voice‘s Christina Aguilera

The addition of Britney Spears to The X-Factor judging panel did more than boost ratings for the Simon Cowell-helmed talent show. It reignited one of the greatest pop rivalries of all time: Britney vs. Christina Aguilera. With X-Tina back as a judge on rival hit talent show The Voice, the pop juggernauts are, once again, going head-to-head to see who is the best judge after years of duking it out on the charts.

Of course we’re going to help stir the pot a little by combing through Britney and Christina’s commentary, comebacks and and crazy moments on their respective shows each week to decide who was the better judge. You can join in by voting for who you think was the bigger star, too.

Christina Aguilera’s “Your Body” Is Made For Hot Sweaty Dancing

Christina Aguilera "Your Body"

“Your Body” is Christina Aguilera‘s new electronic-pop dance single from her upcoming seventh album Lotus. If the The Voice judge was going for a track suited for club speakers and late night feel good dancing then she nailed it. The up-tempo drum beat coupled with her belting vocals makes for a fun enough party song. At the same time it’s sultry with the “tonight’s your lucky night, I know you want it” chorus. Problem is–it sounds like any other electronic dance music (EDM) song. There isn’t any unique quality–not even Christina’s amazing vocals–that differentiate this song from an Usher or Pitbull or any other of the slews of artists making EDM tunes. Read more…

Billie Joe Armstrong Joins The Mix On The Voice

The competition show talent shuffle continues today, with word that Billie Joe Armstrong has signed on to The Voice as a mentor on Christina Aguilera‘s team. The Grammy winning Green Day frontman explained in a statement accompanying the announcement that he chose The Voice because it is “not molding artists, it’s just giving them a little bit of guidance and direction without giving them a complete makeover.” Which is to say that it is, by his figuring, as close to punk as these sorts of shows come. Aguilera’s not exactly Kathleen Hanna or even Haley Williams, but that’s not really been Armstrong’s thing for a while now, and he assures that the two are having fun together. And if this means more “Longview” on the tube, well, we’ll go ahead and look the other way. Read more…

Is Maroon 5′s New Song “Tickets” A Diss Track Aimed At Christina Aguilera? We Asked!

In the last year, we have seen an explosion of reality singing competitions on the television airwaves. American Idol has, of course, been the most popular show on American television since its premiere ten years ago in June of 2002, but in the last year and change, we’ve seen NBC (The Voice), ABC (Duets) and Fox (The X-Factor) all launch competitors to the veritable Idol institution, to the point where the market for these programs has become totally saturated. Most Americans would be hard pressed to name the most recent winners of any one of these programs, let alone all four, but there’s no denying that reality television has given an incredible career boost for Adam Levine and his bandmates in Maroon 5.

Today sees the release of Maroon 5′s fourth studio album, Overexposed. One of the tracks on the album, “Tickets,” has been generating some Internet buzz as conspiracy theorists have suggested that it’s a diss track directed at Levine’s co-star on The Voice, Christina Aguilera. Lines like “She’s got tickets to her own show/But nobody wants to go” and “You’re perfect on the outside, but nothing at the core” certainly could be interpreted as being very Aguilera-esque, so when we caught up with Adam Levine and guitarist James Valentine at New York City’s Crosby Street Hotel yesterday afternoon, we asked them point blank to shed some light on the story. (See our video above.)

The Girls Swoon Over Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” Performance On The Voice

For a minute there we thought Justin Bieber had joined the #moneyteam after this weekend’s Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto fight where Biebs was pictured holding Mayweather’s championship belts in the ring. Don’t fret. He may love the #moneyteam, but his performance on last night’s season finale of the “The Voice” proves he’s focused on the music. Before Jermaine Paul was pronounced this season’s winner, the 18-year-old pop heartthrob performed his first Believe single “Boyfriend,” which is soaring on the iTunes charts holding down the No. 4 spot. Tuned In: Christina Aguilera Sings A Moving Rendition Of “At Last” At Etta James’ Funeral

At the legendary Etta James‘ funeral, Christina Aguilera belted out a spine tingling rendition of “At Last,” which has been part of her live repertoire for a decade. It’s clear how much Aguilera reveres James, and her performance was perfect, both in the range of Christina’s vocal and the touching nature of her Etta James inspired career. Despite the wonderful performance, audiences have chosen instead to focus on a mystery liquid* dripping down Christina’s legs as she sung. We think that whatever it was, it couldn’t have been a comfortable moment for Christina, and that she held her own like the consummate performer that she is, not missing a beat and delivering an emotion filled tribute to her idol.

It’s almost New Year’s Eve, that one, glorious, most hopeful night of the year. It’s also that one night you’re going to party like it’s 1999, so let this week be dedicated to mani-pedis, haircuts, outfit buying, midnight kiss daydreaming, preemptive sleeping and playlist making. Britney Spears – “Til The World Ends”
You’re either a strong believer in Mayan mythology or you just really, really love dancing. Chances are you’re going to be on the dance floor all night — forget about everything else, you just want to dance (until the world ends, heh). We’re going to take a punt and guess that you were going through puberty the first time you heard “… Baby One More Time,” and that Britney just so, like, makes you feel like a teenager again! If you’re anything like us (a Britney stalwart since the start), you’re just completely ecstatic to see Britney get her groove back.
