Is Fleetwood Mac finally dropping new music this week? Is Avril Lavigne sporting a new mature look for her latest music video? And why isn’t Taylor Swift stressing out about her love life? All this in today’s Last Lap.

Fleetwood Mac‘s drama almost matches its number of hits. The hookups, breakups and cocaine eventually crumbled the band that produced the iconic Rumours. Thirty-five years later the trio are laying aside the bad blood to hit the road. Read more…
We had the nerve-wracking honor of sitting down with Fleetwood Mac recently and chatted with the iconic band about their upcoming tour and the re-issue of their album Rumours, which celebrated its 35th anniversary this week. Most interesting was the group’s willingness to discuss their torrid, rocky personal past with each other, which included break ups, make ups, affairs, drug abuse and lots of legendary songs about it all. The band says that emotions and feelings still pop up when performing together on-stage, where their songs live on even after the old feelings and feuds they detail have long-since died.
“All those feelings that you have for each other do come out on stage,” Stevie Nicks told VH1.”Because you’re telling the stories when you sing the songs, so you are in a way re-enacting what happened.” Read more…
If you’re celebrating the 35th anniversary reissue of Fleetwood Mac‘s Rumours, don’t even think about hosting an average sing-along or staging a dramatic interpretation of the band’s personal lives–Glee already beat you to the latter, anyway–without including some glorious contributions from an unexpected source: 2 Chainz. 2 Chainz and Fleetwood Mac?! Yes, the Earth is still spinning, even if we were one day too early in publishing our weirdest musical collaborations list. Stevie Nicks and Chainz both enjoy maintaining long locks, but who knew their musical stylings were so compatible?

“It’s the perfect time to go back out. 2013 is going to be the year of Fleetwood Mac,” said Stevie Nicks yesterday, confirming rumors from earlier this year that the iconic band will head out on tour in 2013. They’re packing up their greatest hits and shipping out on a three month tour that will take them all over North America, and eventually Europe and Australia.
“We always have to play ‘Dreams,’ ‘Rhiannon,’ ‘Don’t Stop,’ ‘Tusk,’ ‘Big Love,’ ‘Landslide’ and all our most famous songs,” Lindsey Buckingham told Rolling Stone, figuring that about 75 percent of each set will be made up of hits, leaving a quarter of each night for the “under-explored,” “more songs from Tusk,” or “an extended middle portion of the show that’s just me and Stevie.”
Nicks had an even better idea for that remainder of time: “We actually have two new Fleetwood Mac songs that I cut with Lindsey two weeks ago we might play.” Crystal visions, we sure hope.

Everybody has got two-cents to share when it comes to last week’s fight between American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. Host Ryan Seacrest and fellow judge Keith Urban both made attempts to mend the fissure, while The Voice judge Cee Lo relished the news as an opportunity to knock the rival program. And so while we await for word from Britney Spears and Team X Factor, we are delighted to hear report that retired Idol coach and true-and-through rock goddess Stevie Nicks has chimed in! And being a woman who knows a thing or two about drama, boy did she chime. Team Nicki, you might want to stand back for this. Read more…

Good news about Fleetwood Mac after the tragic suicide of former band member Bob Welch last month. During an appearance on CBS This Morning, Stevie Nicks said it’s in the plan for the group to reunite for an album and tour in 2013. Nothing is set in stone as of yet, but the possibility sounds promising. Last year Lindsey Buckingham did and interview with Rolling Stone and said, “Nothing is on the books right now. With Fleetwood Mac, there’s a lot of landmines out there politically and it’s hard to get everybody on the same page at the same time–but I think this might be one of those years where everyone will want to do the same thing.” Yesterday when Nicks was asked if everyone was on board she gave a definite, “Oh, yeah.” Read more…
