Taylor Swift Loves Hanson’s Cover Of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”

In ’97 Hanson were merely kids when they had everyone singing along to “MMMBop.” All grown up now,  the trio covered Taylor Swift‘s “We’re Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and they sound pretty good. Each brother played an instrument while harmonizing to Swift’s affirmative tune detailing exactly what the song’s title indicates. Taylor Swift got wind of the band’s cover and tweeted her gushing approval. “1) Hanson covered ‘We Are Never Getting Back Together’. 2) I didn’t just watch the video of it 8 times in a row. 3) #2 might be a lie,” the pop country star tweeted. Reason number 2,745 Twitter rocks. As for Taylor, tune in to her VH1 Storytellers premiere Sunday, November 11 at 11PM to find out if she’ll give the story behind “WANGBT.” Read more…

Hanson Plan To Release A Beer Called “Mmmhop”

Remember when Hanson used to be all cute and innocent? Well, we’ve got news for you buddy, THEY’RE NOT ANY MORE! The boys are back on the radar and this time they’re not releasing a new song, but their very own beer brand. THAT’S RIGHT, THOSE LITTLE CUTIES YOU REMEMBER ARE HOPHEADS! GASP! They probably even drink the stuff, too!

All kidding aside, their new Indian pale ale, which will be available early next year is called — wait for it — “Mmmhop.” If you were too young or too old or too cool to care about Hanson in the 90s, the beer is named after their career defining hit, “Mmmbop.” This makes us think the brothers haven’t lost their boyish charms after all, the pun being so obvious it’s painfully perfect. As they say, you can take the boy out of Tulsa…

Hanson Drops In On Big Morning Buzz Live

When we geared up to launch a new season of Big Morning Buzz Live, one potential first-week musical guest jumped immediately to mind: Hanson. When we premiered the music video for “Give A Little” back in February, our own Mark Graham presaged the return of alto saxophone in pop while praising the track, which would go on to hit #1 on our Top 20 Video Countdown in April. One sax-filled summer later, we’re finally ready for autumn, and who better to ring in a new season than Hanson, playing a stripped-down “Give A Little” live in-studio? The band also spoke to host Carrie Keagan about their fans, Isaac’s “solo career,” the popularity of This Time Around (the album after “Mmm Bop”), and Halloween. Plus, as a Buzz.VH1.com online exclusive, they then performed “Mmm Bop.”

Our sister site The Fab Life also pulled the band aside to ask the question that’s on all of our minds: is Hanson prepared for a zombie apocalypse? There’s plenty more like this in store for this season of Big Morning Buzz Live, which?airs every weekday at 9AM EST on VH1, so tune in!

Last Lap: Tuesday’s Odds And Ends In Music News

Conrad Murray Trial For Manslaughter Of Michael Jackson Begins
The doctor, Michael Jackson‘s personal physician, stands accused of administering a fatal dose of propofol to the singer. Prosecutor David Walgren opened his case by showing the jury a postmortem image of Jackson‘s body on a hospital gurney, which The Smoking Gun already has. The proceeds are being televised and webcast, so expect a lot more rubber-necking coverage like this on gossip sites, especially when Murray’s attorney calls Jackson’s eldest son, 14-year-old Prince, to the stand.

Lil Wayne’s VMAs Stretch-Denim Inspires An AP Trendpiece
The attention-grabbing headline Latest Trend in Hip-Hop: Women’s Clothes disguises a lengthy meditation on the performance of masculinity by none other than celebrity stylist June Ambrose, who’s got a show premiering this winter on VH1. And yes, the piece may refer to Kanye West as “hip-hop’s ultimate metrosexual,” but at least it didn’t misidentify Lil Wayne’s bottoms as “jeggings.” [AP]
