Lil’ Kim heard the loud cries imploring her to get back in the studio. “Drop some 90s Hardcore-esque fire,” we all demanded of her. Now that she’s promoting her protege Tiffany Foxx, Kim got in the booth. Read more…
Lil’ Kim has turned into quite the chameleon these past few years, and her ever changing look as starting to attract just as much attention as her music! The 38-year old hip-hop diva rolled up to MTV headquarters last night to promote her comeback album Hard Core 2: All Hail The Queen, and she looked every part the Queen Bee in an over-sized fur coat.
Lil’ Kim just refuses to appease her day-one fans with banging new cuts from a classic new album. We’re still waiting on you, Kim. When she’s not breaking up to makeup with her boyfriend on Twitter she’s making a video named “Jay-Z” complete with real-life mob affiliations. “Jay-Z” as a title though? Jay‘s people will be expecting a check from using the likeness of his name.
Kim has been using mob references in her music for years and in recent days has been hanging with Mob Wives’ Drita DaVanzo. It’s not surprising Tony Testa, whose uncle Joseph Carmine Testa was convicted of being the head of the Gambino crime family, along with Mob Wives’ Carla Facciolo were spotted on the set. Read more…
We’re getting freaky with our Friday Face-Off Music Video poll this week, because Halloween is here and we know at least half of you will be barely dressed as sexy-somethings, tricking for adult treats this weekend. Don’t lie. It’s okay, because Lady Gaga‘s “Judas” and Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mýa and P!nk‘s collaboration “Lady Marmalade” feature costumes worse than yours. Nothing tops pop stars posed as prostitutes: Gaga as Mary Magdalene and X-tina’s crew (un)dressed as Moulin Rouge’s best. So, who has the freakier video?
You don’t have to be a Little Monster to freak over this racy clip. It has everything you want in a Lady Gaga spectacle. Religious imagery ala Madonna? Check. Sassy dance moves courtesy of Miss “Boom Boom Kat” Laurieann Gibson? Check. Dramatic, skin-baring, Haute couture costumes? Take it to the bank and cash that check, because “Judas” has all of the aforementioned and then some. Take the poll and read our case for
Lil’ Kim has been working non-stop to reclaim her throne. Kim performed at Webster Hall for the Opening Ceremony’s 10th anniversary party for New York Fashion Week. Kim’s new material is few and far between, but the Queen Bee easily rocks the crowd with no new album, just classic hits. Kim’s stage presence is undeniable. The energy from the audience matched hers as she performed “Crush On You” among other Kim favorites. When she does a show she doesn’t take herself too seriously. She danced across the stage and got up close and personal with her fans. Just like the “Return of the Queen” show in the Bronx, Kim knows how to get everyone amped. Her flow is as raw as it was when she reigned in the 90s. Those of us that want Kim to win (we certainly do!), are patiently waiting for an album that will match her iconic status.

From rapping on stage with Lil Kim at the “Return of the Queen” tour to getting shout outs in a Kim verse, Mob Wives‘ Drita D’Avanzo’s street cred extends from the mob life to hip-hop. On Fred The Godson‘s “Tell Em I Go” Kim takes us back the 90s with a similar style resembling the 16 bars she’d delivered in her prime. “If Frank was alive he probably have me on Mob Wives/next to my homegirl Drita/getting f—- up at the bar with some Margaritas,” the Queen Bee raps. Back in May the love fest between Kim and Drita was apparent at the Paradise Theater in the Bronx when Drita surprised everyone and rapped Kim’s whole verse from “It’s All About the Benjamins.” And the crowd went bananas! Apparently Azealia Banks didn’t read our plea for her to get out of her own way. The tally of her rap beefs is pretty meaty. The latest addition to the tally of Twitter wars Azealia has ignited is Nicki Minaj. Earlier this week Azealia Banks tweeted, “I got invited to tour with Nicki Minaj in Europe but I cant go because I have to finish my album during that time.” Seems promising, right? Unless of course Azealia was telling a little white lie. Read more…
In honor of Lil’ Kim’s birthday today, VH1 took a look back at 37 iconic fashion moments throughout her career. However, after quadruple checking various sources to verify her age, we had a minor heart attack when our research did not yield a conclusive result.
Wikipedia —not the most reliable of sources, we know!— pegged Kimberly Denise Jones birth year as 1975, which means she’d be 37 today. However, her IMDB bio states she was born in 1974, putting her at 38-years-old. Her bios on Billboard, TV Guide, Yahoo Movies and Starpulse corroborate Wikipedia’s 1975 birth. On the other hand, AOL Music’s bio page for the BK rapper is in line with IMDB’s 1974. In 2005, MSNBC wrote, “Lil’ Kim, who turns 30 next week…” which would again make this a happy 37th birthday. And People.com in 2003 referred to her as a then 28-year-old making her 37 today. All of this begs the question: How old is the Queen Bee really? Read more…
An iconic star was born when Lil’ Kim arrived on the scene in 1995. Not only would the Queen Bee go on to break records, she was the first to successfully define an image with her style that pushed the boundaries of what it meant to be a female rapper during the 90s. Her bubbly personality was matched with over the top fashion–designer of course–that oftentimes put her sexuality on full display. Green, purple and red wigs? Kim was doing that nearly two decades ago. Gasp worthy ensembles at every award show, including the purple sequined pant suit exposing one boob with only a pasty to cover– Kim’s been doing that. Over the years her style has evolved as she evolves. Don’t confuse evolution with conforming to what’s in at the moment though. As she was ahead of her time musically and stylistically she continues to dress to the beat of her own drum. In honor of her 37th birthday, here are 37 of her most iconic fashion choices. Happy Birthday, Queen Bee!
