What happens on tour doesn’t always stay on tour. For some reason, pop stars and musicians can’t seem to resist the allure of hooking up with their back up dancers. Maybe it’s because they all love music. Maybe it’s because they’re sharing the road. Or maybe it’s just because back up dancers are insanely hot?
The theme of last night’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala’s annual ball was “Punk: Chaos To Couture,” so it only made sense to invite a number of musicians to the soiree. Aside from perhaps Blondie, though, there were no actual punk musicians to be found on Anna Wintour‘s guest list, but that doesn’t mean that there wasn’t plenty to look at. From Madonna (who wore a cross dangerously close to her bottom!) to Beyoncé (looking extra curvy, wink wink), from Nicki Minaj to Miley Cyrus (the latter of whom REALLY bought into the night’s theme), most of today’s A-List musicians strode the carpet. But, we have to ask, who wore it best?
Beyoncé caused quite an Internet stir yesterday when pictures emerged of her wearing a nipple-baring outfit on her new “Mrs. Carter World Tour” that would make even Joel Schumacher blush. It’s definitely the raciest outfit that she’s ever been spotted in, which got us thinking about where this outfit ranks among the most controversial concert outfits of all-time.

What? You didn’t think Beyonce was going to come back quietly did you? It’s beyond Beyonce overload as we predicted in December, and Bey has returned snatching wigs. Her Super Bowl XLVII performance slayed and has helped solidify her place among the greats such as Prince, Diana Ross and Madonna. And the general consensus may have ranked Bey’s mini-concert (because that’s what she gave) above Madonna’s halftime performance last year, the numbers don’t agree. Read more…
Madonna is not here for your second hand smoke. During her outdoor concert in Santiago, Chile on Wednesday Madge had a few choice words for the cigarette puffers once she caught a whiff of the smoke.
Scenario: You’re in Chile and a huge Madonna fan. You’ve paid a nice price for tickets to stand watching her perform songs that will end up on YouTube the same night. But IT’S MADONNA! The day of the show the overcast in the sky is killing your vibe. You hope the rain holds out, but don’t bother dressing super cute just in case. You arrive at the outdoor venue only to be cursed by the weather gods with a downpour of rain. You’re still excited because IT’S MADONNA. Adam Lambert took a break from his VH1 DIVAS hosting duties to channel his inner Queen of Pop for smashing performance of Madonna‘s “Ray of Light.” Last week, he told us that he was “really excited” about performing a Madge song because he’s a “proud Madonna fan.” She is “somebody that knew how to put on a number,” he raved, and — oh boy! — did he show that he can do just that tonight. Lambert performed the 1998 hit in a graphic tunic get-up that would certainly make Madonna proud (seriously, we could not have predicted anything so wild as this robe, and will definitely be doing some decrypting in the coming days!), and he managed to capture all the song’s emotions just right. Between this, his best Bowie and that Donna Summer, he might need an entire VH1 DIVAS show to himself next year!

VH1 Divas host Adam Lambert spilled some major beans in the office today when pumped for info about the event! Wearing remnants of a Movember ’stache and some serious wrist candy, Adam let slip that he was “allegedly” chosen by Madonna‘s camp to cover one of her songs for the show. Yup, just like a prayer, Adam’s voice will be taking us there next Sunday.
The “proud Madonna fan” stopped short of revealing which Madge hit he’ll perform, but Adam did give us the low-down on what tackling a track by that iconic diva means to him.
