Oprah Winfrey is to 50 Cent what Mariah Carey is to Eminem: a punching bag.? Last April, he called out O for her talk show’s seeming anti-rapper policy (“I think she caters to older white women,” he said) and in November, he launched an even more searing offense, branding her an “oreo” (in the Hate to English Dictionary, that translates as “black outside, white inside”). In the July issue of Spin, he’s at it again:

“She doesn’t ever say anything that anybody from the ghetto is gonna ID with. Take a poll. You go out and find me some young black women who ID with Oprah…She can escape the fact that she’s black because she’s a billionaire.”

Even if he has a point, Fiddy’s recurring attacks on Oprah do more harm than good for his cause. See, people who hate hip-hop often complain about its repetitive nature. 50 Cent is beginning to sound like one of his songs, and is that much easier to tune out. Pick a different angle, Fiddy. Nothing unusual about kids throwing a birthday party for their mom – unless of course the children are royals, the mother is one of the world?s most beloved women, and the guest list includes some of the coolest pop and hip-hop musicians around. The Concert for Diana, which commemorates the Princess of Wales, takes place in London’s Wembley Stadium and will be broadcast live on VH1, is one of the summer’s pop events.

"We wanted to have a big concert, full of energy, full of the sort of fun and happiness she enjoyed," says Prince William of the show. The proceeds will go to some of Princess Diana’s favorite charities. Featuring artists as varied as Elton John, Kanye West, Joss Stone, P. Diddy, and Fergie, the six-hour affair should be a blast. The show will be live on VH1 starting at 11 a.m. EST on July 1. VH1.com will also stream the entire event. VH1 Classic will re-air the full show an hour after its conclusion. It’s a sad day for reality show enthusiasts and R&B lovers alike — Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown have made their divorce official. At a hearing in an Orange County, Calif., court on Wednesday attended by Whitney but not Bobby, a judge ruled that the divorce will become final April 24. It was also ruled that Whitney will get full custody of their sole child, Bobbi Kristina. During the hearing, a tearful Whitney testified that she and Bobbi Kris did not need any sort of support from Bobby. She also called her soon-to-be ex "unreliable."

No matter what you thought of their relationship, this is undeniably the end of an era. For 13 years, up until the announcement of their separation last fall, Bobby and Whitney were a seemingly invincible force, deflecting whatever bullets of speculation that were shot at them. Regardless of what went on behind closed doors, they survived in a public forum far longer than anyone expected. In their own bizarre, maybe cracked-out way, they were a source of hope. If Bob and Whit could make it, you could, too. Or so it seemed.
