Adam Lambert took a break from his VH1 DIVAS hosting duties to channel his inner Queen of Pop for smashing performance of Madonna‘s “Ray of Light.” Last week, he told us that he was “really excited” about performing a Madge song because he’s a “proud Madonna fan.” She is “somebody that knew how to put on a number,” he raved, and — oh boy! — did he show that he can do just that tonight. Lambert performed the 1998 hit in a graphic tunic get-up that would certainly make Madonna proud (seriously, we could not have predicted anything so wild as this robe, and will definitely be doing some decrypting in the coming days!), and he managed to capture all the song’s emotions just right. Between this, his best Bowie and that Donna Summer, he might need an entire VH1 DIVAS show to himself next year!

Madonna fans, did he do alright? Lambert fans, were you prepared for that diva-tastic robe? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter using the hashtag #VH1DIVAS.
The music world lost one of its most soulful voices this May when Donna Summer unexpectedly passed away at the age of 63 after a battle with cancer. Because you can’t think about Donna Summer without also thinking about dancing to one of her many classic songs, it was of utmost importance that this year’s VH1 DIVAS program paid tribute to the recent Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee and artist who racked up 20 Billboard Top 40 hits over the course of her illustrious career.
Paying tribute to the late, great Donna Summer tonight were VH1 DIVAS 2012 host Adam Lambert, the always amazing Kelly Rowland, and the divine Keri Hilson. Their medley of “I Feel Love,” “Bad Girls,” “She Works Hard For The Money,” (Hilson solo) “Love To Love You Baby,” (Rowland solo) “Hot Stuff,” (Lambert solo) and “Last Dance” was an appropriately energetic tribute to the woman whose disco-infused sounds dominated the charts in the late 70s and early 80s. Donna Summer will always be missed, and while we’re sad that the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame didn’t get around to inducting this legendary performer until after she passed away, we’re very much proud to have honored her this evening and look forward to her RRHOF induction in the spring of 2013.
And we’re off! VH1 DIVAS 2012 just got started with a dynamic performance from none other than Adam Lambert, who is also serving as host/DIVA-in-training for tonight’s festivities. We saw him perform the David Bowie classic “Let’s Dance” a few times this weekend during rehearsals, and as great as those moments were, Adam is one of those rare artists who has the ability to raise their game up another notch when the cameras start rolling and the stage lights shine down on them. Of course, this is something that we’ve known about Lambert since his American Idol days, but we have a feeling that between this performance, his role in the Donna Summer Tribute later tonight, his upcoming cover of a Madonna song, and the incredible comedic timing he’ll be putting on display tonight, this is going to be a #NEXTLEVEL night for Adam and his posse of devoted Glamberts. (PS, the video is coming soon!)
Be sure to flip over to VH1 right now to watch the rest of tonight’s amazing VH1 DIVAS show! If you miss any of the show, we’ll have all of tonight’s amazing performances available for you to watch on-demand right here on VH1 Tuner and on divas.vh1.com. Enjoy the rest of the show!
There are only a few more hours to wait until this year’s VH1 DIVAS —the one-hour red carpet livestream starts on divas.vh1.com at 8 p.m. ET/7C, while the show itself will begin at 9 p.m. ET/8C— but we just got our hands on a bit of tonight’s opening sketch. In it, host and DIVA-in-training Adam Lambert consults Real Housewives star NeNe Leakes (who knows a thing or two herself about being a DIVA) to get her advice about hosting such a star-studded event. Before their conversation can get going, though, a stylist interrupts their conversation and, well, you’ll have to watch the video above to find out what happens!
To see this full sketch, as well as performances from the likes of (the newly engaged!) Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Pitbull and more, be sure to tune-in to watch VH1 DIVAS tonight starting at 8 p.m ET/CT!
Don’t know about you, but we have had our VH1 DIVAS 2012 outfits ready for months now (we’ll be comfy on the couch in our most glam sweats, if you must know) and we are now onto wondering what sort of diva-tastic looks the show’s stars will be rocking on Sunday and worrying that the evening’s host Adam Lambert might not be dancing and lyric-memorizing to be ready on time! When we spoke with him last week Lambert confessed that he hadn’t yet found time to nail down a look for the night. “My wardrobe is still being conceptualized,” he told us, assuring that “We have lots of ideas we’re throwing back and forth.”
Well, Adam, we have a lots of ideas, too! We’ve pulled some of Lambert most memorable looks from as of late, and thought that there might be a few Glamberts out there with suggestions, as well.
We’re only two days out from the biggest dance party in VH1 Divas history! Now I like to think I can rock hips, sway and sip with the best of them, but don’t worry if you’re not as confident. Our host Adam Lambert was kind enough to lead a tutorial for a simple but fierce head snap move you can use in a pinch. Need more tips? Check out our GIF wall of past Divas performers’ dancing for inspiration before you watch the show live this Sunday, December 16. The red carpet live stream kicks off right here at 8PM/7C.

Adam Lambert is just like us! No, really. Okay, so, we’re not hosting VH1 Divas, selling multi-platinum records or breaking glass with our voices. But, when it comes to recalling music lyrics, Adam has the same problem we do: “I forget the words to my own songs!”
Adam tested his self-proclaimed forgetfulness in our “Name That Divas’ Song” game. He read lines from well-known hits by Whitney Houston, Donna Summer and Kelly Rowland then tried to match the lyrics to the song and artist. How did he do? See for yourself. And watch Divas live Sunday, December 16 9PM/8C to see if Adam got the words right as show host and performer.
It wouldn’t be VH1 Divas week without a daily dose of this year’s host Adam Lambert. And guess what our fearless dance party maestro had to say when we told him Natasha Bedingfield, Iggy Azalea and Bootsy Collins are performing Deee-Lite‘s “Groove Is In The Heart” this Sunday? The only appropriate response: “That’s f***ing genius! I love that song!”
If it were up to me, Adam’s opinion about anything would be taken as law, because beneath that carefully coiffed mass of hair lurks a mastermind with perfect eyebrows. That said, we have journalistic integrity, so let’s back up Adam’s endorsement with some stats about the stars singing the middle school dance favorite. Read more…
Can you keep a secret? We can’t either! That’s why as soon as we heard, we had to share: Kelly Rowland and Keri Hilson are joining Adam Lambert on theVH1 Divas stage to pay homage to late, great – and newly minted 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee – Donna Summer. First Adam’s Madonna news, now this? I love to love this lineup!

VH1 Divas host Adam Lambert spilled some major beans in the office today when pumped for info about the event! Wearing remnants of a Movember ‘stache and some serious wrist candy, Adam let slip that he was “allegedly” chosen by Madonna‘s camp to cover one of her songs for the show. Yup, just like a prayer, Adam’s voice will be taking us there next Sunday.
The “proud Madonna fan” stopped short of revealing which Madge hit he’ll perform, but Adam did give us the low-down on what tackling a track by that iconic diva means to him. Which Madonna song do you think he’ll glam rock the best? Tell us in the comments, and watch December 16 at 9PM ET/8C to see the performance along with the rest of Divas lineup.
