NEW YORK, NY –November 29, 2012 – VH1’s beloved, popular franchise “VH1 Divas” announced today additional performers to join this year’s dance music tribute. Kelly Clarkson, Melanie Fiona, Metric and Pitbull will join VH1’s dance party, along with Havana Brown as House DJ. Airing live from the L.A. Shrine Auditorium “VH1 Divas” will be hosted by Adam Lambert on Sunday, December 16 at 9PM/8c on VH1.
Adam Lambert left fabulous glamor all over the stage in Cape Town, South Africa, Wednesday night. Dressed in all black–leather pants, tank top and vest–Lambert energetically performed song after song from Trespassing for the sold out show. He surprised fans with a cover of Lenny Kravitz‘s “Are You Gonna Go My Way.” His powerful voice sent the crowd into a screaming frenzy. Read more…
Though the news broke earlier this morning, it took hearing it from his own mouth on VH1′s Big Morning Buzz Live this morning to shake our too-good-to-be-true disbelief: Adam Lambert has been tapped to host this year’s VH1 DIVAS, airing live on Sunday, December 18th at 9PM ET/8C. Lambert shared a few details about the gig — he says there he will “definitely be singing,” but was reticent when the talk turned to dancing: “You know my foot will be tapping and my foot will be swinging, but I don’t know if we’ll have any full choreographed moments,” he laughed — before taking the deep dive into what “diva” means to him .
According to Lambert, “a diva” could be a lot of different things: “I think being a diva is high levels of fabulousness, it’s confidence, it’s fashion, it’s talent, it’s just a real high level of fierce,” he said, insistent that these all be considered positive things. And does he, The Glam One, count himself a diva? He said only “sometimes,” because “it’s my own worst enemy when I look in the mirror sometimes.” Maybe he needs to add “humble” to that list.
VH1 DIVAS will be airing live on Sunday, December 16 at 9PM ET/8C, and after having to keep our lips zipped for the last few weeks, we’re excited to finally start letting you in on some of the details. We could not be more psyched to announce that the one and only Adam Lambert will be hosting, and the evening will be led by outstanding performances by the likes of Ciara, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Jordin Sparks. And yes, the evening will be featuring special and memorable tributes to the late legends Whitney Houston and Donna Summer, both of whom were VH1 Divas alumni.
We’ll have more details to share with you over the coming weeks leading up to Sunday, December 16, but until then, here’s the complete press release that JUST hit the wires.

Adam Lambert has long been one of our favorite artists and, quite frankly, one of the main reasons that we were so psyched about attending the Live In The Vineyard festival in Napa, California this weekend. Adam sat down with our VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown host Jim Shearer for an interview that you’ll see on next week’s episode of the show (premiering on Saturday, November 10), but we wanted to get this clip up of Adam talking about his recent appearance on Pretty Little Liars up for the Glambert Nation as quickly as possible (hence, the low quality video; we sacrificed a bit of quality for speed!).
As you’ll see in the video clip above, Adam admits that he’s not entirely sure how he ended up on the set of Pretty Little Liars, but he did have a clear idea of what he wanted to do when he got there. “[The producers] told me it was a Halloween episode and they suggested kind of a costume thing,” Adam explained to us just a few short hours ago. “They said, ‘Oh, you know, we want to do like a steampunk band,’ and I said, ‘Vampire.’ They were trying to backpedal, and I said ‘No, I’m going to be a vampire.’ And they said, ‘Well, maybe you should…’ and I [said] ‘I’m going to come in the teeth, you’re not gonna get ‘em off me.’ Sometimes you just gotta put your foot down. Or your teeth down. Or something!”
You see, Adam wanted to make sure he was completely comfortable for what amounted to one of his biggest acting gigs to date. “When I got on set, I was really nervous ’cause I’ve never done a sitcom/TV drama thing before,” he bravely admitted. “Thank God I had my vampire teeth in because that was my shield, my armor.”
We’ll have more about Adam Lambert’s appearance at Live In The Vineyard here on VH1 Tuner tomorrow, and don’t forget to watch the VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown on Saturday for more of Jim Shearer’s interview with Glambie!
The weekend’s festivities kicked off in earnest last night at Bottega, the restaurant founded by celebrity chef Michael Chiarello (Bravo’s Top Chef Masters, the Food Network’s Easy Entertaining). Chiarello was celebrating the upcoming release of his new cookbook, Live Fire, and put on a cooking demonstration —pasta and clams on the grill!— with the spritely musician LP. The Brooklyn-born, ukelele-wielding LP (Laura Pergolizzi) looks a little bit like Don’t Look Back-era Bob Dylan, but sings like Tegan Quin if Tegan had a more expansive vocal range.
All aboard! Trick-or-treating kicked off early this season, with Adam Lambert officially ushering in the season last night with a guest appearance on Pretty Little Liar’s. Starring as the glammest vampire in all the land, he’s called to Roseland to perform at the Little Liars’ Ghost Train bash. With his patted a deathly white and fangs in full show, he got flirty with Aria (Lucy Hale), and then hit the stage two Trespassing tracks, “Cuckoo” and “Trespassing.” To be sure, tricks and trouble were aplenty on that train last night, but Lambert’s performances were all treat.
Now that we are older and allowed to eat candy for dinner any time we want, we find that Halloween is often only so sweet as our favorite television show’s spooky holiday special. And this year, Pretty Little Liars has roped the full-sized Snickers equivalent of a guest star for theirs: Adam Lambert. How’s that for a treat?
Back in August, Adam teased the role by sharing a picture of himself all gussied up in a ruffle-chested blouse, his face blotted pale and fangs in full show. Now, we get one better as a preview the episode has made its way online. The quick clip shows Vampire Adam and Aria (played by Lucy Hale) getting chatty before Vambert runs off to perform and a spooky mime sweeps through the Halloween party. What brings Adam to town? What songs will he play? Is he actually a vampire, or does he just look really good dressed as one? Guess we’ll have tune in on October 23rd to find out!
In Shanghai, China over the weekend, Adam Lambert was schooled in the local dialect live and on air while appearing on the popular talkshow 80′s Talkshow. Looking extra glam with his silver hair and in a borrowed studded leather jacket — “Don’t make me give it back!” — he listened attentively as the dear instructor went over a few useful phrases. As the show’s host attests to, Shanghainese is a tricky dialect, but Glam was down for the challenge. “Okay, I am going to do a really good job,” he said, sounding genuinely eager to learn.
You can learn, too! Just repeat after him, after he repeats after her: Read more…
