Kelly Clarkson Summons Water, Wind And Fire In Her “Catch My Breath” Video

Kelly Clarkson is a lovely lady of the elements in her new video for “Catch My Breath,” the first single from her upcoming Greatest Hits–Chapter One compilation, which is finally out next Tuesday. The video’s premise is pretty simple, as it finds Kelly looking extra-svelte in a floor length dress and with her new bottle-blonde hair, calling forth wind, water and fire with her voice so powerful. No one can get her down, it’s all so simple now. Oh mighty Idol, hear ye roar!

What’s Up With Katy Perry’s Ballot Dress, And Did We Mention Republican Kelly Clarkson Is Voting For Obama?

Katy Perry was a show stopper last night. And not because of her performance. The celebrity endorsements for the presidential election are rolling in with the election only weeks away. President Obama has racked up his share of artist/celebrity endorsements including staunch supporter, Katy Perry. Perry showed her support by performing hits like “Teenage Dream,” “Part of Me” and “Wide Awake” at the president’s rally in Las Vegas last night. The president shouted out the pop singer and her grandmother who is a long term resident of Nevada. What an early birthday gift for Ms. Perry who turns 28 today. She tweeted, “So tonight was a great night! The PRESIDENT gave grandma and I unforgettable shout outs & now I am officially 28! Best. birthday. ever.” Read more…

Kelly Clarkson’s Greatest Hits Track List Reminds Us That She Is The Greatest

A decade in, Kelly Clarkson is ready to sign, seal and deliver the first chapter of her career with her first greatest hits compilation, called of course Greatest Hits — Chapter One, due out November 19th. According to this new track listing, the collection is 17 songs long and each song is in fact a great hit. Included in the mix are early hits, like the twitchy “Miss Independent” from 2003′s Thankful, and songs that are still heating up the charts, like “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).” Additionally, there are two new songs: “Catch My Breath” and “People Like Us,” which we have yet to hear. And because it’s that time of the year again, the album is sealed with her take on “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.”

Clarkson stays being understated, but this track list proves her to be none-less than a pop power house. Let’s have a look: Read more…

Kelly Clarkson Debuted “Catch My Breath” Last Night Live In Dublin

Only yesterday Ryan Seacrest premiered “Catch My Breath,” a new single slated for inclusion on the Kelly Clarkson‘s greatest hits collection Greatest Hits — Chapter 1, and already she has taken it to the stage. The American Idol winner gave the song it’s first live performance last night in Dublin with little to-do, and she certainly earned her “Greatest” status by hitting all the high points without taking even a beat to actually catch her breath. “Cheesy moment, but I think it is important for you to enjoy your life, so if you’re not happy, make it happen,” she joked afterwards.

Before she began, she shared that the song is about her musical director of more than a decade, Jason Halbert. “I felt no better person to try to write a song for this project was him, because he’s been with me through my ups and downs and it’s been one hell of a ten year ride,” she said. “This song kind of goes through every moment of that, and just where I am at as a person at thirty.”

Kelly Clarkson’s “Catch My Breath” Is A Reminder To Stop And Smell The Roses

Kelly Clarkson "Catch My Breath"

After repeatedly blowing us away with her impeccable covers, Kelly Clarkson stopped for a moment to catch her breath. Ryan Seacrest premiered Clarkson’s new single “Catch My Breath” from her first greatest hits collection Greatest Hits–Chapter 1. The song is celebratory in that it acknowledges she’s going to live her life the way that makes her happy. Her voice flows from a leveled alto to a high near-scream for the chorus. “I will spend the rest of my life/Catching my breath/Letting it go/Turning my cheek for the sake of the show/Now that you know/This is my life/I won’t be told what’s supposed to be right.” The hook is slowed down only for her to deliver a perfect high-pitched “In everything!” Clarkson penned the song with one of her best friends who she says has seen her through everything. What Do You Get When The Great Kelly Clarkson Covers The Great Adele’s “Someone Like You?” Greatness!

Goosebumps inducing is how we’d describe the great voice of Kelly Clarkson. Thanks to Kelly’s devotion to showing appreciation to her fans by selecting one of their suggested songs to cover, we’ve been treated to a plethora of amazing ones. Last night Clarkson kicked off her Australian tour in Brisbane and beautifully sang Adele‘s “Someone Like You.” Imagine covering Adele, people. Even Kelly was nervous about taking on a song by such a great vocalist. “I’ve actually been avoiding this song. Literally every fan request has had this song on the list. I’ve been avoiding it because Adele might be one of the best singers of all time,” she told the crowd. “It’s very hard to cover people that are rad. It was also a big moment in her career, but I think it’s been long enough. So, I think it’d be cool to do this song in honor of her. Hopefully I do it justice and I don’t suck.” Read more…

Good Singer, Bad Dancer: 14 Artists With Tremendous Pipes Who Never Quite Figured Out How To Move (GIF WALL)

For every Michael, Beyoncé and Usher, there’s a Christina, Mariah or Rihanna. Try as they might, the latter group of hot pop acts just can’t coordinate that whole singing-while-dancing thing. Their beats and belting may be tight on the radio, but when it comes to rocking dance moves in a music video, even some of the best sirens fall flat. For your amusement, check out these hilarious GIFs (you’re welcome) of crooners we adore who demonstrate some of the worst rump shaking we’ve ever seen. Debate our list in the comments below and, more importantly, let us know whose lack of rhythm we failed to catch.

Mariah Carey - “Shake It Off

Moroccan and Monroe weren’t even zygotes yet, but Mariah looks like she was practicing serious mom moves in this video. Luckily, Mimi’s vocal acrobatics helped us shake off the memory of her awful wannabe thug life bleacher rocking, so all is forgiven.

Kelly Clarkson Covers Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” Even Though The Song ‘Confuses’ Her

The “Call Me Maybe” phenomenon just won’t die. And we kind of love it. During the Mixtape Festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Kelly Clarkson joined the laundry list of alumni who’ve covered newcomer Carly Rae Jepsen‘s longest running No. 1 hit this year. Before going into her own rendition of the catchy pop tune Clarkson said, “I’m still slightly confused ’cause I’m like, ‘boy you better call me or just leave it alone.’ I don’t get the maybe part.” We swooned for that down-to-earth sassy declaration that there shouldn’t be any maybe when it comes to a boy calling her! Covers to Catch: Lana Del Rey Does Nirvana, Kelly Clarkson Does Katy Perry

It’s Friday, and the internet has so kindly graced us with two worthy covers to drive us into the weekend:

Last night in Sydney, Lana Del Rey gave Nirvana‘s “Heart Shaped Box” a stormy and orchestral cover. Nirvana has come to be considered sacred territory, just ask Miley Cyrus, who took serious flack for her “Smells Like Teen Spirit” cover, but Lana’s haunting voice makes for an interesting tribute. Her obsession with fame is not without understanding of Kurt Cobain’s obsession with escaping fame, and her belts of “Hey, wait, I’ve got a new complaint” feel almost as tortured as Kurt’s devastating originals, and she somehow managed to make the brutal “I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black” line sound feminine and delicate. This was a risk, but it seemed to work.

Kelly Clarkson‘s cover of Katy Perry‘s “Wide Awake” was far less of a stretch, and great nonetheless. Read more…
