Did you watch the 2011 American Music Awards last night? No worries whatsoever if you didn’t, because we here at VH1 Tuner have got your back. Whether you need something to discuss with Sally from Accounting about for the 20 seconds you’re awkwardly standing together in the break room waiting for your coffee to finish brewing OR you want to make sure your pop culture game is on point at the bar tonight, we put together this handy summary of the 10 most likely events from the evening that would come up in conversation. From Christina Aguilera‘s hot mess ensemble (which we kind of loved!) to Taylor Swift‘s constant state of surprise (“Who, me?”), from the correct way to pronounce Ellie Goulding (which will come in handy if you run into Robin Thicke) to the correct answer of whether that was indeed Little Pitbull that appeared in Pitbull‘s trousers while he was mock humping J.Lo, here is the story of the American Music Awards told in ten easily digestible parts. Bon appetit!

On a recently taped episode of The Ellen Degeneres Show, Rihanna got personal about her love life, revealing that she’s not dating anyone right now (Ed. Note — DM me, BB!). RiRi then went on to draft a personals ad for Ellen, revealing what she’s looking for, “I like men that are more aggressive but mysterious but I like a man to be very sure. I like them to be sure of themselves and know that you’re the man. I’m the lady and the only way for us to make this work is for us to play our roles. You know, I can’t really be the man for you. I don’t want to have to be. I’m the man at work all the time.” Rihanna’s perfect man criteria got us to thinking, and we took the liberty of creating some personals ads for some of our favorite single stars who are so awesome they definitely shouldn’t be single.
I’m looking for someone to love me for me, because I will love you for you, and that includes all your freaky business. Sure, I’m a monster (this will bode well for you in ‘special’ moments *wink*) but so are you. At least you should be. I only date other monsters. You must be tolerant of my many hats, wigs and vertiginous shoes. If you’re so inclined, you’d be free to share these things and borrow them for your own personal use. You should be creative and boundary pushing and passionate. Our relationship will be an art work, and we will perpetuate high-culture through our love.
We’ve been hyping this insanely awesome episode of VH1 Unplugged for weeks, and now you can finally watch the whole thing! We’ve got the full five-song set for you above, which consists of Kelly Clarkson‘s stripped-down performances of “Mr. Know It All”, “Dark Side”, “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)”, “I Know You Won’t” and “Since U Been Gone.” You can watch it above, or head over to live viewing party on VH1.com to chat with fellow Kelly fans right now.

It’s just over a month until VH1 DIVAS Celebrates Soul airs on VH1, and we’re already doing backflips of excitement about this year’s lineup, which will feature Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Florence + The Machine, Kelly Clarkson, Jessie J and Jennifer Hudson. Regarding the latter, we’re excited to reveal this new promo image of the Grammy- and Oscar-winning singer/actress J. Hud! We haven’t heard any advance word about what songs she’s planning on performing that night, but seeing as how one of the featured soul-music capitals we’ll be spotlighting is her hometown of Chicago, we’re sure she’s got some exciting tricks up her sleeve about how to best honor the rich musical legacy of the Windy City.
Wondering where the images of the other ladies are? Well, you can check out Entertainment Weekly to see Kelly Clarkson, USA Today for Florence + The Machine, MTV.com for Jessie J, Entertainment Tonight‘s The Insider for Jill Scott, and TheYBF.com for Mary J. Blige!
VH1 DIVAS Celebrates Soul will air exclusively on VH1 on Monday, December 19 at 9 p.m. ET/8 CT. Stay tuned to these pages for more updates as they come in!

It’s finally here! We’re only 11 hours or so away until the online premiere of VH1 Unplugged: Kelly Clarkson, the full five-song set of which will arrive tonight at 7 p.m. ET. We’ve already shared sneak previews of Kelly’s emotionally-charged rendition of “Dark Side” and her killer cover of Carrie Underwood’s “I Know You Won’t”, but since we can barely contain our excitement about this amazing set, we thought we’d whet your appetite this morning with another exclusive reveal.
To that end, please enjoy Kelly’s take on “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger),” the second single off her new LP, Stronger. Even with “Mr. Know It All” sitting pretty at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, “What Doesn’t Kill You” is experiencing a great deal of chart success itself; it cracked the Top 20 on this week’s chart. Kelly has described this driving, upbeat empowerment anthem as “one of my favorite songs on the record, purely because it makes me want to work out … and I don’t like working out!” Well, whether she likes (or admits) to working out or not, we can confirm that Kelly looked stunning in the red bandage dress she wore to her Unplugged taping.
Be sure to come on back to VH1.com this evening at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT when we reveal the full VH1 Unplugged: Kelly Clarkson set. And don’t forget to set your DVRs to record VH1 at 11 p.m. ET/PT tomorrow night to see this truly amazing Unplugged performance in glorious high-definition.
If VH1 were to have its own zodiac, it would be the year of Kelly Clarkson. Tomorrow (November 17), we’re premiering VH1 Unplugged: Kelly Clarkson on VH1.com at 7 p.m. ET. In December, Kelly returns to VH1 for a performance on VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul. And today, we’re happy to present our first-ever weekly VH1 Tuner Podcast, hosted by Jim Shearer of VH1 Top 20 Countdown fame, with an all-Kelly Clarkson edition. In this episode, Jim chats with Kelly about Stronger, her relationship status, wanting to collaborate with Adele, her video for “Mr. Know It All,” and how she feels about being our very first podcast guest. Enjoy the audio now and look for us soon in iTunes.
Everyone’s got a dark side, even Kelly Clarkson, and she’s asking if you can love hers. So, can you? We know we can, especially after watching this exclusive sneak peek video of Kelly singing “Dark Side” on VH1 Unplugged, which will debut on VH1.com tomorrow night (Thursday, November 17) at 7 p.m., followed by the on-air premiere at 11 p.m. on Friday. In fact, this is what we love best about Kelly — that she’s just a regular girl. Acknowledging the pitfalls of her personality, Kelly invites us all to be imperfect without letting us (or herself) be any less perfectly loveable.
Along with Kelly’s moving performance of “Dark Side,” Unplugged will feature Kelly’s cover of fellow Idol Carrie Underwood’s “I Know You Won’t” and yes, that gorgeous red dress Kelly wore on the day. If all this is starting to make you impatient, you can watch more sneak previews of Kelly talking about her ominous dreams and forgetting lyrics, as well as gushing over Mumford & Sons and Adele.
We’re gearing up for the airing of VH1 Unplugged: Kelly Clarkson, debuting exclusively on VH1.com at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 17, which will be followed up the next night with the show’s on-air premiere (11 p.m. on 11/18 on VH1). For now, we’re swooning over snippets of Kelly dressed like a vixen in red and just being her goofy self in front of the camera. We’ve already seen her gushing about her contemporaries, refusing to date musicians and covering Carrie Underwood, and now we’ve got her chatting about forgetting lyrics and her ominous pre-concert dreams.
The ever adorable, completely relatable Kelly reveals that she’s often left stumped by the lyrics to her own songs, and is renowned for forgetting them when on stage. With a cheeky grin on her face the singer admits, “I’m not going to lie. It doesn’t matter if it’s a new song or an old song, I will screw up the lyrics.” Kelly’s forgetfulness is endearing, and as she points out, at least she’s not lip synching: “That means I’m singing live, so that says something.” In the second sneak peek clip (below), Kelly talks about ominous dreams she has before shows of falling down on stage. She tells how following a dream of falling, she almost fell on stage at UK’s X Factor because she “was trying to be all sexy in heels.” Awwwww, Kelly, we really love your honesty!
