VH1 DIVAS: Miley Cyrus Leaves The Crowd Wanting More, More, More After Her Pyrotastic “Rebel Yell” Performance (VIDEO)

Yesterday afternoon, we presented to you with 5 Reasons Why Miley Cyrus Was Born To Cover Billy Idol. At only 20 years old, Miley Cyrus was not even born when the sneertastic Billy Idol first released “Rebel Yell” in 1983, but it’s safe to say that after tonight’s explosive performance on VH1 DIVAS, the song belongs to her now! (At least for tonight, that is…)

Miley came out wearing an ensemble clearly inspired by the British punk/pop legend: Black leather jacket and pants, each adorned with the metal studs that Idol was rarely seen without. It goes without saying that Cyrus showed off way more midriff than Billy ever did, but hey, SHE’S JUST BEING MILEY! As she wrapped her pyro-laden performance, she said “That was for you, Lila,” paying tribute to her puppy that sadly died earlier this week. In a moment you didn’t see on TV, she came off the stage with her fists pumped screaming “YEAH BITCHES!!!”

So, Smilers, what did you think of Miley’s performance tonight? Be sure to let us know in the comments, or you can always tweet your love for Milers on Twitter using the hashtag #VH1DIVAS.

5 Reasons Miley Cyrus Was Born To Cover Billy Idol At VH1 DIVAS

You heard right. America’s controversial sweetheart, Miley is performing Billy Idol‘s “Rebel Yell” at this year’s VH1 DIVAS. We sneaked a peek at her closed rehearsal set, and it’s going to be wild. One word: cages. That is all.

Now, when the song and music video for the track that made British punk rocker Billy an MTV icon dropped in 1984, the future Mrs. Liam Hemsworth was like negative nine years old. But generation gap be damned, the similarities between the two stars is kind of hard to ignore. Here are five reasons Miley is the perfect choice to cover this tune:

#1 – The Hair

The spiky platinum blonde coif Miley’s sporting is looking a little familiar. I wouldn’t bat an eyelash if she suddenly revealed she’s actually Billy Idol’s estranged daughter. When she first went blonde and sheared her signature brown tresses over the summer, people were critical of her P!nk-like pixie. So Miley did what any rebel would do. She went and shortened it more, more, more. Read more…

Bad Timing: Why Meek Mill’s Debut Dreams & Nightmares Got Unfairly Shafted

It’s often said that timing is everything, and Meek Mill’s debut album couldn’t have arrived in a more luckless moment. The eve of his Dreams & Nightmares release brought him eclipsing circumstances in the form of Superstorm Sandy hitting the East Coast, and while folks in the Northeast were battening down the hatches and preparing for the worst, the Philly spitter promoted his album on Twitter heavily, all while sheltering a house full of relatives from the storm.

A number of @-replies and retweets attacking the rapper for being insensitive to the tropical cyclone reality at hand spilled into my Twitter timeline, and I myself, stuck in the house and concerned for friends and family, admittedly thought that maybe the active promotion was in poor taste. And I’m a fan. But can we blame him? Meek Mill had been waiting to release his first full-length album since he was 16-years-old and, conflicted by an influx of somber reports on flooded communities and power-loss, wasn’t about to allow the building odds to thwart his momentum. It’s A High Brow Cake Fight In Borgore And Miley Cyrus’ “Decisions”

According to Israeli dubstep producer Borgore “you should’ve learned bitches love cake.” Doesn’t everyone? Miley Cyrus  lends her vocals for the DJ’s latest single “Decisions,” which features the singer all caked up. Literally. On a bike, Borgore pedals through the Hollywood streets to deliver a gigantic three tiered cake to what looks like a high society party at Roosevelt Hotel. Obviously the party is packed with women (and men) who love cake. Read more…

Good Singer, Bad Dancer: 14 Artists With Tremendous Pipes Who Never Quite Figured Out How To Move (GIF WALL)

For every Michael, Beyoncé and Usher, there’s a Christina, Mariah or Rihanna. Try as they might, the latter group of hot pop acts just can’t coordinate that whole singing-while-dancing thing. Their beats and belting may be tight on the radio, but when it comes to rocking dance moves in a music video, even some of the best sirens fall flat. For your amusement, check out these hilarious GIFs (you’re welcome) of crooners we adore who demonstrate some of the worst rump shaking we’ve ever seen. Debate our list in the comments below and, more importantly, let us know whose lack of rhythm we failed to catch.

Mariah Carey - “Shake It Off

Moroccan and Monroe weren’t even zygotes yet, but Mariah looks like she was practicing serious mom moves in this video. Luckily, Mimi’s vocal acrobatics helped us shake off the memory of her awful wannabe thug life bleacher rocking, so all is forgiven.

Now that we know she isn’t mad about Miley’s haircut we can move on to more important things…her brand new album released today and North American tour beginning February 2013!
