“Dying onstage” is usually just a crass expression among entertainers meaning a rough gig. But for an unlucky few, the phrase prove tragically true. Some of music’s great ones have passed on while in the middle of performing for an audience. In a sense it’s a fitting way to go -doing what you love in front of an adoring crowd. But still, their loss fills music lovers with grief to this very day.
It’s been said that rock ‘n’roll is a hazardous business. Too many of music’s best and brightest have fallen victim to drug overdoses, murders, plane crashes and other unfortunate events. But then there are those deaths that are so unexpected, so unpredictable, so bizarre, that we’re left scratching our heads even after all these years.
There are a few important factors that make hard rock and heavy metal music one of THE best genres in music:
1. Musicians who can head bang and hold a chord
2. The fans (that’s a no-brainer)
3. Facial Hair
I know you probably think we are crazy for even saying that, but can you imagine Ozzy Osbourne with a mustache like Tom Selleck? Zakk Wylde with a unibrow? Or maybe even KISS with ZZ Top beards? Strange right? (We can only imagine how long it would take to get the paint out.)
