The 15 Metal Bands, Young And Old, You Should Be Listening To In 2015

Being charged with spotlighting 15 bands that I think matter in 2015 is daunting. I’m not Bill O’Reilly. I’m not trying to pawn off propagandized opinion as fact. In my best impression of an authoritative figure, this is a collection of musical acts, young and old, that I predict will make an impact this year. Periodically, I have these exploratory talks with my friends within the music industry (A&R people, agents, promoters, musicians, managers, DJ’s), and part of the goal is to try and figure out where heavy music is going. What is the next “big thing”? No one knows. I don’t know either, but I wanted to shine a light on those bands that are making artistic strides in a time when homogenization is rampant, and discovering beacons of hope through the digital white noise is becoming increasingly difficult. Power Ballads, Cult Bands And The Greatest One-Hit Wonders In Heavy Metal And Hard Rock

Like a one-night stand, people love their one-hit wonders, and heavy metal and hard rock are no exception to the rule. A good one hit wonder takes you back to that time and place that you first heard it. When you sang it out loud, drunk at the bar, and didn’t care what anyone else thought about it. They carry none of the baggage of a more serious artist, whose music must be savored and mulled over like an overpriced bottle of wine. The VH1 Classic America’s Hard 100 Countdown Poll is nearing its end but we’ve still got more classic hard rock and heavy metal tunes that need sorting and we need your help! We’ve put together a list of 100 essential rockers but we need you to vote on them to let us know where they should fall in the America’s Hard 100 Countdown when it airs this November.
