View Photo Gallery

-By Georgette Pierre

Artists are going H.A.M. these days with tattoos galore and it seems like they’re running out of places to get inked. Take for example, Ke$ha’s AND Miley’s mouth tattoo. Can anyone say ouch? And lest we forget Amber Rose’s arm tattoo of Wiz Khalifa’s face. Yeah, that definitely happened. But what about face tattoos? They’ve been popping up more and more over the past few years, with the most memorable ones being Gucci Mane‘s ice cream cone on the right side of his face and Lil Wayne‘s “Baked” stamped across his forehead.

Selena Gomez Sings “…Baby One More Time” And Gucci Mane Shows Off His Acting Chops: Finally! The “Spring Breakers” Trailer Has Arrived

On the heels of footage of an allegedly tipsy Selena Gomez making the rounds at the Golden Globes after-parties comes a look at the former Disney star’s first mature-with-a-capital-”M” acting role. Monte Carlo may have featured Blair Waldorf and that dude from Glee, but it proved that without the convoluted hijinks their television writers can provide them with, they’re all bit… dull. But there’s still hope for Selenita, who has the making of a triple threat and the gossip factor to leave fans wanting more.

We’ve been eagerly awaiting Spring Breakers since casting was announced and racy photographs hit the web over the summer. It’s since made festival rounds and generated buzz based on its director, Harmony Korine, who rose to fame after writing the screenplay for 1995′s Kids at only 22. It was a film praised for its honest, graphic depiction of teenage life, and helped launch the careers on then-unknown actors like Rosario Dawson and Chloë Sevigny. Eighteen years later, Korine’s latest directorial effort takes a similar approach, by hiring a group of bubbling performers on the rise (and Gucci Mane) who have strong ties to PG (or PG-13 at best) entertainment; Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens did their time on the House of Mouse, while Ashely Benson stars on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars and used to hang with Justin Bieber‘s crew.

40 Most Shocking Hip Hop Moments Set To Debut On Sunday, September 18

Ever since the first time that someone decided to break out a turntable at a block party in the Bronx, scandal and hip hop have gone together like peanut butter and jelly. From notorious murders and untimely deaths to sleazy sex scandals and high-profile arrests, rarely does a week go by without some sort of drama going down in the hip hop community. On VH1?s 40 Most Shocking Hip Hop Moments, which debuts this Sunday, September 18, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, we?ll count down the most mind blowing, controversial, stunning and horrific moments ever.

You’ll have to watch the show to guess the final order, but some of the things you can expect to see will range from the silly (like Gucci Mane?s triple scoop ice cream cone face tattoo and Nicki Minaj getting her booty slapped by Regis Philbin) to the serious (the murders of Biggie and Tupac, the latter of which occured 15 years ago this month). On VH1?s 40 Most Shocking Hip Hop Moments, we?ll revisit all the stories that caused people to either gasp or #SMH.

VH1′s 40 Most Shocking Hip Hop Moments is a two-hour special, which will immediately be followed by the television premiere of our latest Rock Doc, Planet Rock: The Story Of Hip Hop And The Crack Generation. It’s a night that hip hop fans won’t want to miss! To get a taste of what it will be like, follow along to watch comedian and familiar VH1 talking head Donnell Rawlings share his personal thoughts on what the most shocking thing about hip hop is.

Like An Interpreter, Tinie Tempah Drops Gems on UK Hip Hop and Lists His Stateside Favorites

On Tuesday, we shared some of Tinie Tempah’s thoughts on mentally transitioning from the UK to the US as an up-and-coming artist in the hectic world of hip-hop. Because the London native goes back and forth across the pond so frequently, we also asked Tinie to give us a cheat sheet of sorts, helping to get us looped-in to the who’s who of British rap. Check out his list of personal favorites below, because after all, you never know if one of these guys might be next.

GIGGS (IF YOU LIKE: Gucci Mane)
“Definitely be on the lookout for Giggs, he?s doing his thing,” preached Tinie. After collaborating with B.o.B and a slew of other big-name British rappers, Giggs continues spitting coke-rap bars for days. Style-wise, Tinie compared him to both Young Jeezy and Gucci; embodying the hustler image, Giggs served a two-year bid for a gun charge back in 2003, but inked with XL Recordings (see: M.I.A., Tyler, The Creator, Dizzee Rascal) to distribute his third solo LP next year off of self-made label, SN1 Entertainment.
