Beyonce Pens A Short And Sweet Handwritten Letter To President Obama

Bey Pens Handwritten Letter to Obama Showing Her Support

When Beyonce isn’t sitting courtside at a Brooklyn Nets game, or gyrating on stage alongside her hubby she’s penning letters to the president. Bey’s support for President Obama dates back to 2008. As an avid supporter she campaigned for then Senator Obama and was later rewarded the opportunity of a lifetime to sing at the president’s inauguration while he and the First Lady slow danced. Never underestimate the power of a singer who creates a “Single Ladies” anthem. Read more…

Jay-Z’s Got “99 Problems But Mitt Ain’t One” For President Obama In Columbus, Ohio

As promised, Jay-Z and Bruce Springsteen are out rallying with President Barack Obama on this eve of the election. Obama says that he’s got both artists on his iPod — and, “Yes, the president has an iPod!”– and that he chose these two in particular because “they tell the story of what our country is, but also what it should be.”

Jay and Obama go way back, and so it shouldn’t be much of a surprise to learn that the rapper was willing to duck the President’s secret service, putting his life, liberty and Red Phone line to the White House at risk, to really drive his point home with a. “I have to do it, I’m sorry,” he said, before hitting ‘em up with this “99 Problems” election special remix: “I feel bad for you, son, but I’ve got 99 problems but Mitt ain’t one!” Needless to say, the re-work has already been taken up as a hopeful rallying cry on Twitter.

You can stream the rest of the rally live, if you would like; and tomorrow, don’t forget to get out and vote! If you need a refresher, see what all your favorite musicians have to say about the candidates. Read more…

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Big K.R.I.T. On The State Of Southern Hip-Hop

If Big K.R.I.T. wasn’t so adamant about repping his hometown of Mississippi he may not be where he is today. Who was this young rapper from Mississippi who produced his own music? was the question posed two years ago when his mixtape K.R.I.T. Wuz Here surfaced. Where he was from was almost as big of a draw to him as his music. Sure, a southern rapper rapping about where you’re from isn’t uncommon. But the only other well-known rapper from Mississippi to “make it” was David Banner. Minutes before he took the stage at Austin’s ACL music festival he told us he believes the south has always been lyrical. Like us, he too was puzzled that anyone thinks otherwise. Read more…

The stellar live shows during Austin City Limits are over but luckily our interviews with the artists live on. Take for instance our chat with the loquacious Questlove of The Roots. President Obama Calls For Peace At The American Idol Judges’ Table, Gets An Endorsement From Jay-Z

Should a pop culture question be thrown into the pit during tonight’s town-hall style debate, Barack Obama will be well prepared. In a week spent on the trail and with all his presidential duties, the President found time to mediate the ongoing Idol feud and to woo Jay-Z. And here we are, still trying to find time to catch up on Homeland!

On air with Miami radio host Michael Yo this week, the president broke from his usual refrains — “the economy, we’ll fix that,” and so on — to take a question about the current state of American Idol affairs. “I think that they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident,” he said when asked if he might repair Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey‘s tempestuous relationship in his second term. “I’m all about bringing people together, working for the same cause. I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they’re moving forward and not backwards.” Read more…

Jay-Z Brings Out Special Surprise Guest Beyoncé For Final Barclays Center Show

Jay-Z christened Brooklyn’s new Barclay’s Center right. Ahead of his eight-concert opening run, he told Rolling Stone that there wouldn’t be any guests because, “This is my one chance to be selfish. Can’t I? Can’t I be selfish? Thank you.” Though Big Daddy Kane and Memphis Bleek both touched down early in the run, he mostly kept true to his plan, taking the stage each night with only a shining gold bottle of Ace Campaign — to be poured out for Biggie during “Juicy” — for company. Because, when you own the place! There was still hope that Jay, on the eighth and final night and with all the world watching on YouTube, would call out the big guns. And he did, he brought out the biggest he’s got: his wife.

After doing “Bonnie and Clyde ’03″ by his lonesome, Jay stepped aside and out from a glowing tunnel walked — strutted, rather, hips swinging wide as the beat to “Diva” picked up — none-less-than Beyoncé. Keeping brand in all black leather, her custom Nets hat included, and sunglasses on and swaddled with back up dancers. After “Diva,” she gave Brooklyn a shout-out and then asked politely if she could do one more.

Jay-Z To Launch His Own YouTube Channel And Stream Final Night of Concert
