These two sisters may have different looks, but they’ve both had equal success. America’s sweetheart Jessica Simpson has had her share of airhead moments (recall her ‘Chicken Of The Sea’ comment) and Ashlee Simpson has gotten flack for facial work, but they survived scrutiny and have powered on. Check out their videos for “Boyfriend” and “Irresistible” and vote to decide which sibling is the superior Simpson. Read more…

Music and reality TV have a rather peculiar, but beneficial relationship for artists. Whether its a veteran artist trying to reignite the flame of their once budding career or those whose career is in its nascent stage, reality TV is here to save the day. Or not. Read more…
Is Jessica Simpson ever going to marry beau Eric Johnson? Is Adele going to give us a glimpse of her baby boy? What else besides singer, songwriter and actress is Kate Nash adding to her resume? All this in today’s Last Lap.
Blasphemy! But someone had to do it. Everyone calm down, I’m not saying that you can’t play Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” until your iPod breaks. All I’m saying is that there is so much more out there in terms of cheerful spirited holiday-themed music that is both modern and mostly listenable.
Let’s put aside our differences and agree that lists are fun. They are also only definite if you actually add them to your holiday playlist. SO: WILL YOU?
Here we go:
For every Michael, Beyoncé and Usher, there’s a Christina, Mariah or Rihanna. Try as they might, the latter group of hot pop acts just can’t coordinate that whole singing-while-dancing thing. Their beats and belting may be tight on the radio, but when it comes to rocking dance moves in a music video, even some of the best sirens fall flat. For your amusement, check out these hilarious GIFs (you’re welcome) of crooners we adore who demonstrate some of the worst rump shaking we’ve ever seen. Debate our list in the comments below and, more importantly, let us know whose lack of rhythm we failed to catch.
Mariah Carey - “Shake It Off”
Moroccan and Monroe weren’t even zygotes yet, but Mariah looks like she was practicing serious mom moves in this video. Luckily, Mimi’s vocal acrobatics helped us shake off the memory of her awful wannabe thug life bleacher rocking, so all is forgiven.
All next week, VH1 will be counting down a list of the 100 Greatest Women In Music. Each weeknight at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning on Monday, February 13, a new hour-long episode of The Greatest will air on VH1, each show focusing in on the merits of the best female artists of the last 20 years and change.
As a precursor to the next week’s reveal, we thought that we’d kick off the discussion by revealing this list of 14 women who ALMOST made the list. They’re all terrific artists in their own right, which just goes to show how amazing the full list is going to be next week. This list of the Almost Greatest goes, as follows (in alphabetical order, natch):
Christina Perri, Ciara, The Corrs, The Cranberries, Danity Kane, Duffy, Enya, Jessica Simpson, Lily Allen, Michelle Branch, Selena, Sinead O’Connor, Sugarland, and Vanessa Carlton.
To find out who DID make the list, be sure to watch VH1′s 100 Greatest Women in Music special (brought to you by Summer’s Eve) all next week on VH1! And be sure to make your voice heard by tweeting your support for your favorite female musician by voting in our new poll, Who Is The Greatest Female Artist of ALL TIME?
VH1′s latest entry in the award-winning Rock Docs franchise, The TRL Decade, premieres tonight at 9:30 pm. The hour-long special takes a look back at the colorful history of the long-running MTV video request program and the effect that it had on the music industry, and features insightful interviews from former VJs like Carson Daly and Dave Holmes, as well as some of that era’s most popular musical acts.
In order to get you in the mood for tonight’s premiere, we built this special
Spotify playlist for The TRL Decade, which features many of the songs that you’ll hear in this documentary feature. Get your ’90s nostalgia on with boy band faves like “Larger Than Life” by the Backstreet Boys, rap-rock smashes like Korn‘s “Freak On A Leash”, hip hop hits like P. Diddy‘s “Bad Boy For Life”, sugar coated girl pop classics like Mandy Moore‘s “Candy”, and many more.

One more night of sleep until VH1 DIVAS Celebrates Soul airs on VH1 on Monday, December 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT! The show will feature performances by Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Florence + The Machine, Kelly Clarkson, Jessie J and other lovely ladies.
For the past 12 days, we’ve been reliving DIVAS past in order to get into the DIVAS spirit, including hot numbers from Jill Scott, Whitney Houston, Donna Summer (twice!), Mariah Carey and more. So now that it’s the final day of our DIVAS countdown, it’s time for one last trip down memory lane, courtesy of Jessica Simpson, Gladys Knight and Joss Stone. Back in 2004, they performed the stone classic “I’ve Got To Use My Imagination”, and the three women are radiant, powerful and fierce as they sing the independent woman anthem. There’s a generous helping of soul and funk as the women harmonize to the sounds of a live band — these are three beautiful women you probably wouldn’t want to mess with!
VH1 DIVAS Celebrates Soul will premiere exclusively on VH1 on Monday, December 19, 2011, at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
