Last weekend, Keri Hilson performed a sizzling “She Works Hard For The Money” for VH1 DIVAS 2012‘s spectacular Donna Summer tribute, reminding us that Hilson’s got the pipes, Hilson’s got the moves and it certainly doesn’t hurt that Hilson’s got the legs and looks, as well. It’s been two years since No Boys Allowed dropped and we’re still pumping “Pretty Girl Rock” on a more than semi-regular basis, to be sure, but every spin has us asking: where’s Keri been? We caught up with the Hilson back stage, and she promised us that she’ll be back to pretty girl rocking in 2013 with her acting debut and new music, too!
“I took a little break, and I’m back,” Hilson explained, teasing a new album set for release in the first quarter of next year and beaming with excitement for her upcoming silver-screen debut. Hilson is set to star alongside Vin Diesel — “He’s become my mentor!” — in Chronicles of Ridick: Dead Man Stalking, and she is “super excited” about getting back to her more theatrical roots. “I was a theater major in college,” she said, “Acting is just as much a part of the things that inspire me, and the things that keep me creatively juicy, just as much as music is. I’d love to have a lasting acting career.” And as long as that doesn’t mean an end to the music, we would love her to have that, too.

We’ve already shared some of our favorite behind the scenes moments, a few of our favorite GIF-ed moments and a whole slew of our favorite musical moments from last nights spectacular VH1 DIVAS show, and we’re still not through with our gushing because we just thought everyone on the bill — Adam Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Metric, Keri Hilson, Pitbull, Ciara, Bootsy Collins, Miley Cyrus, Jordin Sparks, Kelly Rowland and more! — totally killed it. And so here we are, reliving our favorite moments last night through photos. Our top twenty moments, in no particular order — because, really, it would be cruel to make us chose between them — look something like this:
1. Kelly that brand new precious stone of hers! Brandon Blackstock sure is a lucky guy.
…and she showed of her powerful and Idol-winning pipes. We are so glad she didn’t settle with a career as a backup singer.
2. Pitbull didn’t “Stop The Party” until all his dancers were flat-out on the ground.
3. Natasha Bedingfield, Bootsy Collins and Iggy Azalea’s “Grove Is In The Heart” was hands down the evening’s most funky moment. And look how cute these three looked together!
The music world lost one of its most soulful voices this May when Donna Summer unexpectedly passed away at the age of 63 after a battle with cancer. Because you can’t think about Donna Summer without also thinking about dancing to one of her many classic songs, it was of utmost importance that this year’s VH1 DIVAS program paid tribute to the recent Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee and artist who racked up 20 Billboard Top 40 hits over the course of her illustrious career.
Paying tribute to the late, great Donna Summer tonight were VH1 DIVAS 2012 host Adam Lambert, the always amazing Kelly Rowland, and the divine Keri Hilson. Their medley of “I Feel Love,” “Bad Girls,” “She Works Hard For The Money,” (Hilson solo) “Love To Love You Baby,” (Rowland solo) “Hot Stuff,” (Lambert solo) and “Last Dance” was an appropriately energetic tribute to the woman whose disco-infused sounds dominated the charts in the late 70s and early 80s. Donna Summer will always be missed, and while we’re sad that the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame didn’t get around to inducting this legendary performer until after she passed away, we’re very much proud to have honored her this evening and look forward to her RRHOF induction in the spring of 2013.
Can you keep a secret? We can’t either! That’s why as soon as we heard, we had to share: Kelly Rowland and Keri Hilson are joining Adam Lambert on theVH1 Divas stage to pay homage to late, great – and newly minted 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee – Donna Summer. First Adam’s Madonna news, now this? I love to love this lineup!
Full set list after the jump.

Following the tragic death of legendary artist Etta James today, the music world has expressed profound condolences, many coming in the form of heartfelt Tweets. You can see some of them below, a testament to Etta James’ pervasive influence, her inspirational impact on the music world, and the great loss that is felt by her passing.

You know the old phrase “Watch what you eat?” While that’s just as important in 2011 as it has always been, it’s also important to watch what you tweet! Keri Hilson found that out the hard way yesterday, after sending out a tweet which said “*gasp* Amy Winehouse resurrected to party w/ me!!! (seriously, uncanny resemblance)” and included the above Twitpic. The tweet, while certainly not malicious by any stretch of the imagination, was definitely in bad taste, and a significant portion of @MissKeriBaby‘s 1.5 million followers let her know it, replying back with cries of “too soon,” “not funny” and other, much nastier sentiments that we cannot share with you here.
Hilson, to her credit, quickly recognized the error of her ways and tweeted out the following apologetic missives to her followers:
