As if Kina Grannis, VH1’s featured Posted artist for January, wasn’t amazing enough already, now she’s hanging out with Danny Pudi on the set of the hit show Community. While Community has controversially been put on hiatus, it looks like Kina is doing the same, getting some “vocal rest” and letting Pudi do the talking for her! Can you think of a better mouth piece? And Kina is delightful with her smiles, emphatic fake crying action, and again, smiles. Who do we talk to to get in on this hang out?
The adorable Kina Grannis, VH1’s January Posted artist, performed a beautiful, acoustic version of “In Your Arms” for Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. It’s no secret that we love Kina, and it’s not hard to see why. The young performer is sincere, relatable and perfectly imperfect as she sings with true emotion. Promoting her album Stairwells, Kina took to the stage with the presence and easy charm of a veteran performer, despite her relative newness to the limelight. Her charming smile accompanying the heartfelt vocal made for a convincing performance that has stuck in our minds the same way as the passionate kind of love affair Kina sings about would. We were even lucky enough to go backstage at Jimmy Kimmel with Kina to find out all about her upcoming US and European tours. See our video after the jump!
Ushering in 2012 is our first Posted artist of the year, Kina Grannis. Kina will be with us all January, giving us updates from the road including photos, tweets and exclusive stories about her travels.
Kina had been kicking around the coffee house scene for the better part of the last decade until she won a contest sponsored by Doritos back in 2008, one which landed her a record deal and exposure to hundreds of millions of people during the Super Bowl. However, she didn’t officially “go viral” until late last year when her jellybean-tastic video for “In Your Arms” racked up over 4 million views on YouTube and earned her a 2011 OMA for Best Web Born Artist. If you want to know what to expect during Kina’s Posted run, watch this adorable video of Kina as she explains, “It’s gonna be a lot of fun. Over the course of the next month, I’ll be giving you a little inside look into who I am, what I do, where I go. Should be interesting, might be weird, possibly, probably, awkward, but I’m really looking forward to it so hopefully you guys have a fun time watching!” and then proudly displays her “jelly bean message.” So get ready for a month with Kina as she travels across the country promoting her new independent album, Stairwells.
