It’s all the rage these days to complain about concert attendees who kill the vibe by spending the entire show recording with their mobile phones or, worse, their iPads. While we don’t disagree entirely with the rage against those addicted to their screens, we would like to thank those brave souls who sacrifice the experience of living in the moment in order to capture these moments for posterity, especially when said moments result in once-in-a-lifetime fails. So, won’t you join us and salute these amateur videographers without whose dedication we would never have been able to see this grainy footage of superstar musicians like Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Metallica’s Jason Newsted, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler hilariously wiping out on stage for all our enjoyment? (Oh, PS: We turned all of these fails into GIFs for your enjoyment. You’re welcome!) Read more…
Beyoncé has a strong power over people. In addition to her proven ability to get sports fans out of their seats with a single flick of the ring finger, wherever she goes, whatever she does, the Queen known as Bey is consistently making people cry–happy tears, of course!
We hear about rock stars getting banned from Holiday Inns all the time, but it takes a special kind of skill to get yourself banned from an ENTIRE COUNTRY! That’s dedication, friends. But still, that’s happened to quite a few musicians over the years!
The unofficial end of summer comes at sundown, and we’re not ready to say goodbye to the warm weather and long nights. If the summer has to end, the least we can do it send it off in style, right? Beyonce thinks so! Read more…
Every summer needs a theme tune, and each year pop music lovers passionately debate which single will earn the distinction of being named the Song of the Summer! In our eyes, this honor is wayyyy better than a Grammy. Record sales and official charts factor into it, but that’s definitely not all it takes to earn the exclusive title. These feel-awesome anthems have to permeate every avenue of our existence, playing seemingly at every moment, everywhere we go, during everything we do. Ordinarily that sounds like torture, but we’re too busy dancing to care. A true summer song is just THAT good! The polls are still open on this year’s song (*cough* “What rhymes with ‘Hug me’?” *cough*), but we’ve decided to take a look back the best summer jams from the past 15 years. Head down below and relive them all, and then vote on your ultimate favorite! These hot hits will keep you warm all winter long…
Summer is almost over, which means it’s almost time to go back to school. Before you get all angst ridden about the social horrors and intimidating curriculums of elementary school, high school and college, keep in mind that school doesn’t have to suck. In fact, these 20 music video schools are pretty damn cool.
One of them might even feature Beyoncé.
The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards are set to air this Sunday night, August 25, beginning at 9/8C. Although the spectacle of the event now outweighs the actual awards themselves, the pinnacle of the evening still revolves around which artist gets to take home the coveted Moonman for Video Of The Year. With that in mind, we thought we’d take a look back at the winners of the prizeover the last 20 years—including acts like Beyonce, Eminem, Pearl Jam and more!—to determine which videos have withstood the test of time and which were mere flash-in-the-pans. (We repeat, which VIDEOS, not which ARTISTS or which SONGS; our list is purely built around how well the videos themselves hold up.)
With that in mind, please enjoy our countdown of the Most Timeless VMA Video Of The Year Award Winners Of The Last 20 Years.
The Queen Bey may only be nominated for one VMA (Best Video with a Social Message), her presence can be felt in this year’s nominees for Best Female Video. What’s even more strange is how Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna all took the master class in Beyonce by channeling “Me, Myself and I,” which was nominated for a 2004 VMA for Best R&B Video. While the video didn’t take home the Moonman that year, it did lay the ground work for future nominees.
Who has Lady Gaga accused of stalking her? Prince releases artwork for one of his singles — with a hilarious twist, and 2013 MTV Video Music Awards nominees Macklemore & Ryan Lewis describe what a VMA win would really mean to them.
