Tuned In: Adam Lambert Sings “Better Than I Know Myself” On Leno

Adam Lambert fans — this is what you’ve been waiting for. Performing his first single, “Better Than I Know Myself,” from his forthcoming album Trespassing, last night on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Lambert owned the stage with his compelling presence. Looking sharp as always in his signature glam-goth style and vertiginous hair, Lambert gave an emotional performance. With an 80s, synth-led sound shaping the song, Lambert’s voice soared through “Better Than I Know Myself” with confidence and ease, both chilling and uplifting, especially when he hit the high notes with his flawless rock-style vocal.

VH1′s Top 20 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2012

VH1's 20 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2012

Now that we’re done with reflecting on 2011, it’s time to start projecting into 2012. With the reign of Adele perhaps taking a brief hiatus, and buzz building around several newcomers, some legendary reunions and highly anticipated sophomore albums, 2012 is already shaping up to be a year filled with some pretty amazing music. We’ve put together a list of 20 of our most anticipated albums for 2012 — what are you looking forward to in 2012?

Lana Del ReyBorn To Die (Expected Release Date: 01/27): Possibly the most hyped artist of 2011, we’re excited for the record to finally come out so we can stop judging the hype and start judging the material! She landed a highly coveted spot as the musical guest on the January 14th episode of Saturday Night Live, so expect the clamor to grow.

Van HalenA Different Kind Of Truth (Expected Release Date: 02/07): Aside from a couple of songs that made it onto the band’s 1996 Best Of set, the band hasn’t cut any new material in the studio with original lead singer David Lee Roth since 1984, so anticipation for this project is through the roof. After a blistering reunion set at Cafe Wha? in New York City last night, there’s a good chance the boys still have it in ‘em.

Sleigh BellsReign Of Terror (Expected Release Date: 02/14): After Sleigh Bells’ killer debut with Treats, we’re biting our nails to find out whether their sophomore effort will be just as good. If the release of the first single off the new album, “Born To Lose”, is anything to go by, we won’t be disappointed.

Nicki MinajPink Friday: Roman Reloaded (Expected Release Date: 02/14): Since Nicki Minaj Tweeted that the new album will feature all new material (as opposed to a re-release), we’ve been painting everything pink in anticipation. Barbz at the ready!

Adam Lambert And Sauli Koskinen Make Nice, Wear Santa Hats, Pose For A Remorse Filled Christmas

It seems all is peaceful again at camp Adam Lambert after his public bust up with boyfriend, Sauli Koskinen, last week. Following the fight outside a Helsinki gay bar in the early hours of the morning, the two were arrested and subsequently released without charge. And it seems that following their release, the two kissed and made up, as Lambert Tweeted over the weekend, “Xmas Eve with the Koskinens! Just had a huge traditional Finnish feast and now opening gifts! Merry and bright! Hyvää ja rauhallista joulua!”, posting the above image of him and Sauli posing happily in Santa hats. Of the incident itself, Lambert Tweeted, “Jetlag+Vodka=blackout. Us÷blackout=irrational confusion. jail+guilt+press=lesson learned. Sauli+Adam+hangover burgers= laughing bout it. :).” The popstar seemed remorseful via Twitter, writing, “Violence is not to be taken lightly. Embarrassed by drunkenness. No punches thrown, no injuries and no charges. Media always exaggerates.” We certainly hope Adam doesn’t find himself in a similar situation again, and we’re happy to see that the normally low key couple are back to their adorable antics, rather than warring in the streets of Helsinki.

Adam Lambert And His Boyfriend Have Been Arrested After A Violent Domestic Dispute In Helsinki

Adam Lambert has landed himself in somewhat of a pickle this morning in Helsinki, having been arrested for brawling with his reality TV star boyfriend, Sauli Koskinen. The disagreement allegedly began around 4am outside the gay bar Don’t Tell Momma and has been described by Finland’s media as a “huge fight,” culminating in the arrest and incarceration of both men.

While it’s yet to be seen what will come of the arrest or if the two will continue to be held and charged, what remains is a blister on Lambert’s public profile and, indeed, his character — an unfortunate event not only so soon after the release of his latest single, but more importantly in terms of his responsibility as a human functioning in a compassionate and peaceful way within society. Indeed, all reports point to the fight involving an element of physicality, not only between Lambert and Koskinen but from Lambert towards bystanders who attempted to break up the fight. While there were reportedly no serious injuries, violence, whether domestic or otherwise, is completely unacceptable. We hope that this was a one time incident for Lambert and that he expresses regret and apology — we might change our opinion of one of our favorite pop stars if such unruly, dangerous behavior were to be repeated.

Adam Lambert’s New Single, “Better Than I Know Myself,” Is Ready For The Dance Floor

The club driven beats of Adam Lambert‘s new single, “Better Than I Know Myself”, have the Robyn effect, disguising wrought emotion by daring the listeners to dance. With Lambert’s ballad-ready lyricism, the track inspires nostalgia and is a little bit heartbreaking, and if it weren’t for the heavy beats and the buzzing snare beneath the melody, we might be moved to tears. Instead, we’re caught somewhere between toe tapping and grief. We heard at the start of the month that the Lambert’s new album would be full of dance inducing tracks, and it seems that the pop-star is coming through on his promise, and sticking with the prevailing Euro-techno trends that have been dominating the pop music landscape.

What say you, Glamberts? We know that the song leaked over the weekend, but it just officially hit the iTunes store today. Let us know your thoughts!

Adam Lambert’s Holiday Gift To The Glamberts? A New Single!

YESSSSSS! We have barely been able to breathe for the last 12 hours or so, ever since Adam Lambert sent out this tweet earlier this morning: “Countdown begins…. 12 hrs until a big unveiling….” All day, we’ve been pacing around the office, staring at our watches every couple of minutes, constantly refreshing our Twitter feed, wondering what the one and only Glambert was going to offer up to us. Would it be a special holiday video message to his fans? News that he’s joining Queen on a full-time basis? A picture of him wearing nothing but a piece of mistletoe?

Well, it ended up being none of those things, but we’re not complaining because guess what? A NEW SINGLE IS ON THE WAY! Adam just dropped the cover art for his new song, “Better Than I Know Myself,” on Twitter and announced that “it drops on December 20th! avail on all digital music providers. Happy Holidays!!” We haven’t heard Adam’s version of this track yet, but we’re huge fans of the demo of this song that Claude Kelly cut back in 2009. This song was written by Dr. Luke and Claude, both of whom has a history with Glambert; they co-wrote the title track off Adam’s 2009 debut, For Your Entertainment. (Most versions of “Better Than I Know Myself” have been scraped off the Internet, but if you search hard enough, you’ll be able to find it.)

We’re going to do our best to stay calm until Adam’s release of “Better Than I Know Myself” in six days, but until then, check out his full cover art below!

Adam Lambert Describes His New LP As “Nine Inch Nails Meets Saturday Night Fever

American Idol runner-up and super duper pop star supreme Adam Lambert has revealed he’s pulling out the big guns for his next album, Trespassing. Enlisting the services of A-list producers Pharrell Williams and Dr. Luke, Lambert is taking his music in a new direction, and we’ve been warned — there will be dancing.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Lambert describes his new musical direction as a bit of dubstep, a bit of electronica, and even some “Nine Inch Nails meets Saturday Night Fever” sounds mixed in there. It’s not all about partying and clubbing, though, as Lambert makes it patently clear that his album will retain his trademark depth and boundary-pushing material. “There’s party music, sex music, f****d-up-relationship S&M music,” he tells RS. “But every song explores something real.”

Although his sophomore effort has been delayed a few times now, things seem to be on track for the album to come out sometime early next year. As much as we love the holiday season, 2012 can’t get here quickly enough! After all, we love us some Glambert!

The Highs And Lows Of Adam Lambert: Performing With Queen And Being Stung With A Law Suit

At this weekend’s MTV Europe Music Awards, Adam Lambert wow-ed fans as he performed live on stage with legendary rock band Queen. In a noisy, epic performance, Lambert belted out numbers like a pro, owning the material in a way that made him seem much more than your run-of-the-mill Freddie Mercury impersonator. Sporting his trademark vertiginous hair and a Matrix-style leather coat, Lambert fronted the legendary band with contemporary style, hitting big notes with soaring force. We feel it’s safe to say that this is probably another high point in Lambert’s career and definitely a favorite moment for his fans, but do Queen’s die hard contingent of supporters feel the same way?

Despite his ripping performance at the EMAs, unfortunately, it’s not all coming up daisies for the ex-Idol contestant as this week; he’s been stung with a pretty hefty lawsuit. The star has been shot with a subpoena by a company called Colwel Platinum Entertainment who claim they had an agreement with Lambert at the time of his appearance on American Idol, and that his appearance on the show was in direct violation of said agreement. We’ll see how this one pans out, but if we know Glambert, he’s not going to let a little thing like a lawsuit stand in the way of getting his (currently delayed) first single completed!

To find out what Adam had to say about the latest delay of his next single, follow along:

Nude Dude Upstages Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Adam Lambert And More At 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards

The 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards went down in Belfast, Ireland last night, featuring many of the same performers that took the stage at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards back in August (such as Bruno Mars, Queen‘s Brian May, Jessie J, and more). Fortunately, fans of tight monologues caught a break when Jo Calderone was denied his Visa by the Irish government, which resulted in an epic Lady Gaga performance of “Marry The Night”. Gaga’s performance took place on the moon (literally!), and saw her dressed as some sort of highly colorful piece of space fungus, and was highly reminiscent (in a good way) of her performance of “Edge Of Glory” on the American Idol finale back in May.

However, all of the artists and celebrities who presented and performed last night were upstaged by a naked Irishman who ran on stage while Hayden Panettiere was introducing a segment. Soy Bomb, he wasn’t; rather, the lothario leprechaun (actor David Monahan) appeared to be a plant by show producers to get people talking. How else do you explain that he was able to speak freely on the mic for two minutes without being tackled by (what we’re assuming to be) burly Irish security dudes? Either way, this fellow’s lucky charms were on display; we’ve got video of the NSFW moment for you after the jump. (You have been warned.)

American Idol Producer Responds To Adam Levine’s Idol Closet Claim

Earlier this week Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine (of late a judge on NBC’s The Voice) went off on American Idol for not allowing contestants to be openly gay on the show. It didn’t take long for someone at Idol?producer Nigel Lythgoe, talking to Entertainment Weekly about the Emmys?to fire back. “There?s no reason that I would see why anybody that goes on television should start coming out with who they are, what they are, what their sexuality is, who they’re going to vote for or what their religion is,” the producer told James Hibberd when asked about Levine’s comments.

Lythgoe’s plea for privacy rings true, but it doesn’t address the particulars of the situation. Specifically, his claim, “If somebody wants to say they’re gay, it’s up to them” contradicts what Idol contestant Adam Lambert has said. In his episode of Behind The Music, Lambert recalls reading Mark Harris‘s cover story (coincidentally, for Entertainment Weekly) and wondering in regards to its speculation on his sexuality, “Why does it matter? But I guess it does.” (In this he agrees with Lythgoe.) But he goes on to claim that he was contractually unable to respond except on Idol or in an Idol-sanctioned group interview. So to an extend it wasn’t really “up to him.” We hardly expect Lythgoe to respond to a question he was not asked, but his remarks nevertheless fail to adequately defend the show from Levine’s criticisms.
