Music lovers rejoice, because you oughta know that VH1 is releasing its very first You Oughta Know compilation CD! The monthly artist showcase has introduced many groundbreaking (and hit making) artists to the world, and now some of their finest tracks are all together on one disc!
VH1’s first ever You Oughta Know In Concert special will air tomorrow night, Thursday November 21, at 9/8C. If you missed the livestream of the event last week, you’ll finally be able to watch the star-studded grand finale of “Ho Hey,” performed by The Lumineers and an all-star cast of You Oughta Know alumni. Although you won’t be able to see the final cut of that INCREDIBLE performance until tomorrow night, we were able to liberate this sneak peek for you guys while our editors weren’t looking!
If you missed last night’s livestream of the very first You Oughta Know In Concert, don’t fret. The show will be premiering on VH1 on Thursday, November 21 at 9/8C, and in between now and then, we’ll be releasing videos and web exclusives from the show as soon as we can. Case in point: Last night’s show closed with an AMAZING set from The Lumineers, who debuted their new track from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, “Gale Song.”
The Lumineers are one of the featured acts that will be performing live at the first ever You Oughta Know In Concert, which will be livestreaming exclusively on VH1.com TONIGHT, Monday, November 11, and then airing again in glorious HD on VH1 on Thursday, November 21. This Denver-based trio is made up of Wesley Schultz (lead vox, guitar), Jeremiah Fraites (drums, percussion), and Neyla Pekarek (cello, vox), and joined the VH1 You Oughta Know family back in July of 2012.
As much as we love “Ho Hey” by The Lumineers, we’ll readily admit that we’re a little burnt out on it. It’s been on constant rotation for us since we first saw them play at SXSW in March of 2012, and 13 months is a long time to listen to any song, regardless of its merits. We chuckled when The Chickeneers performed their all-cluck version of the song on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last week, but when we finally got around to watching this week’s episode of Nashville on our DVR, we fell in love with the song all over again, thanks to two young girls named Lennon and Maisy Stella.
Our favorite season of the year is just around the corner! No, not spring, silly — we’re talking FESTIVAL SEASON! After a great run at SXSW a few weeks ago, the jam-packed 2013 music festival season kicks off in earnest next week with the Coachella Festival (April 12-14 and again April 19-21). However, what we’re really looking forward to is the 2013 incarnation of Lollapalooza, which will be held in Chicago’s Grant Park for the ninth consecutive year. The lineup for this year’s fest, which runs from August 2-4, was just released and its a DOOZY. Here are the Top 10 Acts That We’re Most Excited To See At This Year’s Lollapalooza.
The Lumineers ride the post-Grammy wave past the 1MM sales mark, while Baauer cashes in big time on the “Harlem Shake” craze. Here’s a look at this week’s Nielsen SoundScan trends and figures: Read more…
