A lot can change in 30 years. On the night of September 14th, 1984, sexy Material Girl Madonna took the stage for her career making performance of “Like A Virgin” at the MTV Video Music Awards. Thousands of miles away that same night, Henry Rollins and his seminal hardcore band Black Flag played a chaotic set on the wrong side of Tijuana in some forgotten dive. Nowadays Rollins is a revered punk rock elder and hosts shows on The History Channel while Madge struggles to remain relevant in the high-speed modern music marketplace. But unlike many festival extravaganzas, the most crucial performance is usually the opener. This prized slot always goes to the superstar guaranteed to bring the gasps with awesomely unexpected antics. Among the unforgettable opening acts are Britney Spears and Madonna‘s infamous kiss, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky‘s sizzling duet, and Eminem leading an army of bleach-blonde Eminems through New York City. She’s been giving us hit after hit for more than 30 years, and her catalog is rich with everything from  sugary-sweet dance smashers (“Vogue,” anyone?) to moody ballads (“Frozen” lives up to its title). In addition to music, her fashion is iconic and certainly set the stage for future pop star get-ups (Cone bra, anyone?). But when you’ve got as many radio regulars as Madonna, there are bound to be a few gems that slip through the cracks.

Weird Al Wouldn’t Be Worse Than These 5 Super Bowl Halftime Disasters

Yesterday we were delighted to learn that a drunk man in Seattle created a petition for “Weird Al” Yankovic to play the 2015 Super Bowl Halftime show. Apparently we weren’t the only happy ones, because thousands of fans have since added their support, hopefully bringing the “Tacky” singer one step closer to the 50-yard line. We can’t think of a better way to spend game day than watching the beloved accordion god perform his comedy classics. Sure, it’s an unorthodox choice, but he’s gotta be way better than these allegedly stadium-savvy stars who fumbled big time.
