The Top 5 Performances From The Billboard Music Awards (Including Miguel’s Fierce Leg Drop That Almost Killed A Spectator)

bboard2013

The Billboard Music Awards were held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this evening and, much like the Grammys, wisely minimized the amount of airtime devoted to acceptance speeches in favor of wall-to-wall performances. Sadly, most of the evening was dominated by artists who, to paraphrase the fairly toasted Kid Rock, were lip-synching to pre-recorded musical tracks. However, the following five performances stood out from the pack and really delivered, demonstrating that the future of music is still shining bright.

Mariah Carey Proves That She’s Still Got It (And Then Some!) In Her New Video With Miguel For “#Beautiful”

Mariah Carey and Miguel dropped their new single, “#Beautiful,” on Monday, and it quickly rose to the top of the iTunes Singles Chart (it’s currently sitting in the #6 position). Response to this song has been incredibly positive, even if The Lambily seems to be aching for a bit more Mimi on the track. Either way, these two wasted no time in dropping a video for the song, which proves once and for all (as if there were any doubters out there!) that Mariah’s still one of the hottest chicks in the game.

What Do You Think Of Mariah Carey And Miguel’s New Song, “Beautiful”? [POLL]

Mariah Carey + Miguel = Beautiful

Last year’s “comeback” single for Mariah Carey, “Triumphant,” sounded fantastic but never really caught on with the public-at-large. So, this time around, the new mom and target of Nicki Minaj shady subtweets decided to partner up with R&B sensation Miguel, who just scored the Grammy for Best R&B single, on a track called “Beautiful.” It’s not your typical Mariah fare, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t love it.

Friday Face-Off: Carlos Santana Vs. Miguel

Cinco de Mayo (not to be confused with Mexico’s Independence Day) celebrates an unlikely military victory Mexico had over the French back in the day. It’s not as big of deal there, but in the U.S. it’s all about guacamole, booze and parties (I’ll be shooting tequila starting at sundown). In that spirit, vote to tell us if Santana‘s “Maria Maria” or Miguel‘s ”Adorn” makes you want to wave that Mexican flag harder this weekend. Read more…

Miguel Is An X Rated Mime On Stage [NSFW]

Only thing we can think of worse than watching Miguel have pretend sex on stage is being forced to actually watch him do the nasty. Raunchy, seduction, sex appeal–all awesome components of a great concert if executed properly. This NSFW video, however, is having the opposite effect of whatever it was he was going for. Read more…

Grammys 2013: Who Should Win Song Of The Year? [POLL]

If an artist wins the Grammy for Song of the Year, they’ve immediately been granted permission to stunt on everybody for at least a year with “Hi, I’m Grammy winner [insert name], and my song was, well, better than any other song that year.” It’d be pretty obnoxious but the Recording Academy acknowledging your song as the best one for the year is clutch.
