Good Singer, Bad Dancer: 14 Artists With Tremendous Pipes Who Never Quite Figured Out How To Move (GIF WALL)

For every Michael, Beyoncé and Usher, there’s a Christina, Mariah or Rihanna. Try as they might, the latter group of hot pop acts just can’t coordinate that whole singing-while-dancing thing. Their beats and belting may be tight on the radio, but when it comes to rocking dance moves in a music video, even some of the best sirens fall flat. For your amusement, check out these hilarious GIFs (you’re welcome) of crooners we adore who demonstrate some of the worst rump shaking we’ve ever seen. Debate our list in the comments below and, more importantly, let us know whose lack of rhythm we failed to catch.

Mariah Carey - “Shake It Off

Moroccan and Monroe weren’t even zygotes yet, but Mariah looks like she was practicing serious mom moves in this video. Luckily, Mimi’s vocal acrobatics helped us shake off the memory of her awful wannabe thug life bleacher rocking, so all is forgiven.

P!nk Thinks Miley Cyrus Rocks The Short Hair ‘Harder’ Than She Does, Performs On Today Show And Announces North American Tour

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

P!nk isn’t at all concerned about Miley Cyrus‘ haircut that is somewhat similar to her own. Today she’s too busy with her fresh of the press The Truth About Love album and the Today show performance of “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” and “So What.”  “I think she’s beautiful,” Pink replied. “I think she rocks it way harder than I do.” So there was no confusion she clarified further, “I love Miley, you can’t talk about Miley around me.” At New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza P!nk interacted with the excited crowd during “Blow Me (One Last Kiss).” P!nk rocked out in her stilettos like only a veteran could. Now that we know she isn’t mad about Miley’s haircut we can move on to more important things…her brand new album released today and North American tour beginning February 2013! Oh yeah, and her forthcoming VH1 Storytellers debut. Read more…

Tuned In: Miley Cyrus Is Gonna Make Us Lonesome When She Goes

Miley Cyrus really is growing up, and it’s absolutely delightful to watch. The young star appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night looking decidedly more mature with a sleek long-bob (we’re booking our hairdresser appointments right now!), to perform her cover of Bob Dylan‘s “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go.” The song appears on Chimes Of Freedom, a compilation of Bob Dylan covers celebrating his career as well as Amnesty International’s 50th anniversary with all proceeds from sales going, naturally, to Amnesty. Miley’s rendition of “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” is absolutely beautiful, and at only 19 years old, Miley’s emotion when she sings it is wholly convincing. With her raspy country vocal and the already gorgeous music, it’s pretty hard not to fall in love with this performance.

Tuned In: Pitbull Brings Affection From Abroad With “International Love”

Pitbull was all about affection from abroad last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, performing his track “International Love.” The high energy, thumping dance track was met with flashing lights and Pitbull’s signature sunglasses at night. There was even a Super Bowl theme which was pertinent given this week’s game, as Pitbull rapped, “I don’t play football but I touchdown everywhere.” We’re pretty sure there’s some dirty innuendo intended in that line — but what would a Pitbull song be without it? It also looked pretty warm up there on the stage, as Pitbull and his band glistened with sweat — but then we realized that was probably just Pitbull bringing the heat to the euro dance beat.

Welcome To The World Of Famous Musical Offspring, Blue Ivy Carter! (PS: Here’s How Fast Your Peers Got On Stage)

This weekend, the world welcomed baby Blue Ivy Carter, the offspring of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and possibly the most important baby on earth right now (or ever, who knows?) into its open arms. After months of speculation, second guessing, and red herrings, the baby girl is finally here and now we’ve got a whole new set of questions to deal with. For starters: When are we going to see baby Blue Ivy? Do you think she’s made of gold or magic or sparkles? Does she have super powers? Will she grow up to fulfill Mom and Dad’s musical legacy? And if so, how long do we have to wait to hear the chosen one’s voice on a record?

With all these questions in mind, we tracked down some other famous babies with musician parents, found out how long it took them to get from the womb to the recording studio, and employed the law of averages to try and figure out when we can expect Blue Ivy’s first number one song. According to the following cross section, we’re expecting Blue Ivy to lay down her first album by age 11…

  • Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. In 1981, at the age of 5, Sean recited a story on his mother’s album Season of Glass.

  • Hailie Jade Mathers, daughter of Marshall Mathers a.k.a Eminem. At age 6, Hailie’s vocal was featured on Eminem’s “My Dad’s Gone Crazy”.
  • Chloe Lattanzi, daughter of Olivia Newton John. At age 8, Chloe provided backing vocals for “The Way Of Love” from Olivia’s 1994 album Gaia.

Miley Cyrus: Birthday Girl, Bob Marley Enthusiast, Supporting The 99 Per Cent

Miley Cyrus has released a video to a remix of her track “Liberty Walk” that consists entirely of mashed up footage of Occupy Wall Street and counterpart protests elsewhere. The video comes with a personal disclaimer from Miley, proclaiming, “This is dedicated to the thousands of people who are standing up for what they believe in.” While we’re not entirely sure what we think of wealthy celebrities expressing support for a movement that is essentially owned by the everyman (the cynic in us suspects that such support has a lot more to do with publicity than sincerity), there is something fairly earnest in the young Miley’s allegiance to Occupy Wall Street, even through her tweets. Even if the girl is largely disenfranchised from the 99%, she seems to have a genuine admiration for the hoards of protesters rebelling against the man to fight for their beliefs. And that’s something in and of itself.

But then we see footage from Miley’s 19th birthday party (below) and we can’t help but wonder if she’s not wearing her support for OWS as some kind of badge. As friend and fellow child-of-a-celebrity-come-pop-star Kelly Osbourne presents Miley with a Bob Marley cake, Miley smiles into the microphone and announces, “You know you’re a stoner when your friends make you a Bob Marley cake!” All the while, there appears to be a guest dressed as a giant panda in the background, and given that we already got to see footage of Miley smoking a bong at her last birthday party, the panda is a lot more intriguing than Miley’s confession, which is tame in comparison to her 18th blow out.
