You guys! Starting this Sunday night, November 12, we’ve got three consecutive nights of VH1 Storytellers amazingness coming your way. When we first found out that we’d have back-to-back-to-back nights of Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys and P!nk coming our way, the first thing that popped into our heads was a twist on the famous Brady Bunch theme. “Here’s a story of some lovely ladies.” And, well, we couldn’t resist…
We’re getting freaky with our Friday Face-Off Music Video poll this week, because Halloween is here and we know at least half of you will be barely dressed as sexy-somethings, tricking for adult treats this weekend. Don’t lie. It’s okay, because Lady Gaga‘s “Judas” and Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Mýa and P!nk‘s collaboration “Lady Marmalade” feature costumes worse than yours. Nothing tops pop stars posed as prostitutes: Gaga as Mary Magdalene and X-tina’s crew (un)dressed as Moulin Rouge’s best. So, who has the freakier video?
You don’t have to be a Little Monster to freak over this racy clip. It has everything you want in a Lady Gaga spectacle. Religious imagery ala Madonna? Check. Sassy dance moves courtesy of Miss “Boom Boom Kat” Laurieann Gibson? Check. Dramatic, skin-baring, Haute couture costumes? Take it to the bank and cash that check, because “Judas” has all of the aforementioned and then some. Take the poll and read our case for
How are you feeling today? Each year, GLAAD sets aside a day called Spirit Day for speaking out extra-loud against bullying and to show support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth. This year, that day is today; and so to celebrate, we have got eight of our favorite anti-bully anthems. Each should remind you that you are strong and beautiful, even when maybe you don’t feel it and no matter what they say. Won’t you listen with us?
Eccentric South African rap-ravers Die Antwoord have set alight with their provocative new video for “Fatty Boom Boom.” The video is as complicated an act as they are — it at one point finds the duo donning what appears to be blackface, and there is a worthwhile exploration of that element here — and worth unpacking a bit, particularly the part where they totally clown on Lady Gaga and her taste for “freaky things.”
The video begins with a tour guide welcoming a Lady Gaga doppelgänger to Africa with a tour of South Africa’s “Concrete Jungle,” where stoplights are called “robots” and shop owners keep black panthers as guard cats. When they come across Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er performing on the sidewalk, Gaga pauses to admire their “freaky fashion” and has just begun to wonder if she might “get them to open for me” — a gig they’ve actually turned down — when the van gets highjacked. Gaga sets off running and somehow winds up at a dentist/gynecologist’s office, where she births a gross and goo-covered bug because she is indeed the Mother Monster. And in the end, they let the Lion King of the Concrete Jungle eat her. Read more…
We’ve always known that P!nk was a strong chick, but it turns out she can be pretty elegant, too. Dressed like a forest nymph with her hair platinum blonde hair streaked blue, P!nk gets physical in the stunning new video for Truth About Love‘s tough ballad “Try.” Directed by Floria Sigismondi, the video depicts her struggle with love with a seriously intense interpretive dance, that was choreographed by The Golden Boyz and P!nk’s own trapeze partner Sebastien Stella. Like the relationship she’s singing about, her tangle with her handsome co-star is sexy but violent, and there are more than a few moments that look like they might have been actually painful (can someone check to make sure she’s okay after that drop at 2:03?). P!nk’s nothing if not tough, though, and that guy’s sharply chiseled abs seem the perfect motivation to get up and keep trying.
Months before P!nk‘s “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” hit airwaves, what would be the singers first single from The Truth About Love was played for us in the VH1 office. Instantly we’d all concurred it was a certified banger. The type of lead that would put P!nk in a well deserved No. 1 spot. Low and behold after being in the business 13 years and six albums in P!nk has landed her first Billboard 200 No. 1 album. Billboard reports that according to Nielsen SoundScan The Truth About Love sold 280,000. Atop the charts is exactly where P!nk belongs.
This may be P!nk’s first number one, but it’s her sixth top 10 album. 2008′s Funhouse was close coming in at No. 2, but nothing’s sweeter than numero uno. The Truth About Love is this year’s third biggest debut behind only Justin Bieber’s Believe and Madonna’s MDNA. G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer presented by Kanye West copped the No. 2 spot behind P!nk impressively selling 205,000 units.
A toast is in order to P!nk, whose VH1 Storytellers episode debuts Tuesday, November 13 at 11pm ET/PT. Doesn’t matter when P!nk got to the coveted top spot. Bottom line: she got there.

How does one even begin to recap a concert that lasted five and a half hours and featured 10 of the biggest names in music today? The second annual iHeartRadio Music Festival kicked off it’s two-day extravaganza yesterday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and fans weren’t disappointed. Usher, Rihanna, Green Day, No Doubt, and P!NK were just a few of the artist who brought hits, both old and new, to the stage.
The first major surprise of the night belonged to No Doubt.
When we heard from a few insiders that No Doubt would open the show with a little help from our friend and Storytellers subject P!NK, we had no idea how our wildest dream would actually come true. Would P!NK fly through the arena on her magic scarves and join Gwen and the crew for a revamped version of “Don’t Speak” or would she simple walk out on stage during the chorus of “Spiderwebs?” Neither one of those things happened. P!NK actually didn’t join No Doubt until midway through their set.
Last night Tuner had a dream. A dream where Rihanna, P!NK, Usher, and Green Day shared a stage. There were flashing lights, thousands of people and … Ryan Seacrest? Wait, this can’t be a dream, it must be time for the second annual iHeartRadio Music Festival!
The aforementioned artists, as well as Mary J. Blige, No Doubt, Calvin Harris, Bon Jovi, Lil Wayne and VH1 Behind The Music subject Ne-Yo are among the 20 superstars set to hit the stage over two nights at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. And luckily for you, dear readers, VH1 will have insider access to the entire event. If Taylor Swift makes a surprise appearance during Green Day’s set (hey, crazier things have happened), we’ll be there with a first-hand report. Trust us, it’ll almost be as good as being there!
P!nk may dwell in the territory better known as rebellion, but when it comes to her daughter Willow, she gushes so hard there’s not one trace of hardness. To promote The Truth About Love, which is projected to hit the Billboard charts at No.1, P!nk stopped by The View to talk motherhood and marriage. Seeing her baby girl’s image on the flat screen behind her caused P!nk to squirm, “Oh my god she’s so pretty.” Little Willow is already following in her mom’s footsteps with the one eyebrow raised look. “She’s got my attitude and his looks,” said P!nk. “She’s going to take over the world.” And when Willow rolls her eyes for the first time Carey Hart will put P!nk over his knee since she’s obviously to blame. P!nk isn’t at all concerned about Miley Cyrus‘ haircut that is somewhat similar to her own. Today she’s too busy with her fresh of the press The Truth About Love album and the Today show performance of “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” and “So What.” “I think she’s beautiful,” Pink replied. “I think she rocks it way harder than I do.” So there was no confusion she clarified further, “I love Miley, you can’t talk about Miley around me.” At New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza P!nk interacted with the excited crowd during “Blow Me (One Last Kiss).” P!nk rocked out in her stilettos like only a veteran could. Now that we know she isn’t mad about Miley’s haircut we can move on to more important things…her brand new album released today and North American tour beginning February 2013! Oh yeah, and her forthcoming VH1 Storytellers debut. Read more…
