The Truth About Love Is…The No. 1 Spot Is Always Oh So Sweet

Pink Lands No. 1 With "Truth About Love"

Months before P!nk‘s “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” hit airwaves, what would be the singers first single from The Truth About Love was played for us in the VH1 office. Instantly we’d all concurred it was a certified banger. The type of lead that would put P!nk in a well deserved No. 1 spot. Low and behold after being in the business 13 years and six albums in P!nk has landed her first Billboard 200 No. 1 album. Billboard reports that according to Nielsen SoundScan The Truth About Love sold 280,000. Atop the charts is exactly where P!nk belongs.

This may be P!nk’s first number one, but it’s her sixth top 10 album. 2008′s Funhouse was close coming in at No. 2, but nothing’s sweeter than numero uno. The Truth About Love is this year’s third biggest debut behind only Justin Bieber’s Believe and Madonna’s MDNA. G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer presented by Kanye West copped the No. 2 spot behind P!nk impressively selling 205,000 units.

A toast is in order to P!nk, whose VH1 Storytellers episode debuts Tuesday, November 13 at 11pm ET/PT. Doesn’t matter when P!nk got to the coveted top spot. Bottom line: she got there.

P!NK and Gwen Stefani Perform “I’m Just A Girl,” One Of Many Surprises At iHeartRadio Music Festival

How does one even begin to recap a concert that lasted five and a half hours and featured 10 of the biggest names in music today? The second annual iHeartRadio Music Festival kicked off it’s two-day extravaganza yesterday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and fans weren’t disappointed. Usher, Rihanna, Green Day, No Doubt, and P!NK were just a few of the artist who brought hits, both old and new, to the stage.

The first major surprise of the night belonged to No Doubt.

When we heard from a few insiders that No Doubt would open the show with a little help from our friend and Storytellers subject P!NK, we had no idea how our wildest dream would actually come true. Would P!NK fly through the arena on her magic scarves and join Gwen and the crew for a revamped version of “Don’t Speak” or would she simple walk out on stage during the chorus of “Spiderwebs?” Neither one of those things happened. P!NK actually didn’t join No Doubt until midway through their set.

We Love P!nk For Admitting She’s The Drama Queen In Her Marriage

P!nk may dwell in the territory better known as rebellion, but when it comes to her daughter Willow, she gushes so hard there’s not one trace of hardness. To promote The Truth About Love, which is projected to hit the Billboard charts at No.1, P!nk stopped by The View to talk motherhood and marriage. Seeing her baby girl’s image on the flat screen behind her caused P!nk to squirm, “Oh my god she’s so pretty.” Little Willow is already following in her mom’s footsteps with the one eyebrow raised look. “She’s got my attitude and his looks,” said P!nk. “She’s going to take over the world.” And when Willow rolls her eyes for the first time Carey Hart will put P!nk over his knee since she’s obviously to blame. P!nk Thinks Miley Cyrus Rocks The Short Hair ‘Harder’ Than She Does, Performs On Today Show And Announces North American Tour

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

P!nk isn’t at all concerned about Miley Cyrus‘ haircut that is somewhat similar to her own. Today she’s too busy with her fresh of the press The Truth About Love album and the Today show performance of “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” and “So What.”  “I think she’s beautiful,” Pink replied. “I think she rocks it way harder than I do.” So there was no confusion she clarified further, “I love Miley, you can’t talk about Miley around me.” At New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza P!nk interacted with the excited crowd during “Blow Me (One Last Kiss).” P!nk rocked out in her stilettos like only a veteran could. Now that we know she isn’t mad about Miley’s haircut we can move on to more important things…her brand new album released today and North American tour beginning February 2013! Oh yeah, and her forthcoming VH1 Storytellers debut. Read more…

P!nk And Lily Allen School Us In “True Love”

Like much of what we’ve heard from the album so far, this latest Truth About Love offers a lesson in love. Again P!nk‘s hurting, but instead of walking out the door like she does in “Blow Me” or putting in overtime like with “Try,” this round she’s writing the troubles and frustration off as side-effects of “True Love.””I hate you, I really hate you,” she sings over the jaunty beat, letting a beat bounce by before she finishes: “so much, it must be true love,” because “no one else can break my heart like you.” Did you think this would be easy? Truth About Love officially hits shelves and digital music libraries next Tuesday, and we’re already feeling pretty schooled.

Produced by the legendary Greg Kurstin, “True Love” notably features the first bit we’ve heard from Lily Allen since her 2009 “retirement” (and the first we’ve ever heard from Lily Rose Cooper). Unfortunately, she only appears for a brief verse towards the end of the song, more a preview than a grand return. That said, she sounds in fine form turning sharp lines like “why do you rub me up the wrong way” while sounding sweet as ever. Read more…

P!nk and Eminem Get The Party Started Early With “Here Comes The Weekend”

When P!nk first teased this Eminem collaboration, she recalled that she had previously worked together with Marshall on the stormy “Won’t Back Down,” off of Em’s Recovery, and said that joining forces for a second time was an obvious move. “I said, ‘Do you want to do a song with me?’ and he said, ‘F*** yeah!’ Handshake. Nothing signed. Done,” she said. And so, here we have the two trouble makers together again, this time for “Here Comes The Weekend,” a feisty ode to the week’s end and yet another pre-release leak from P!nk’s The Truth About Love. Like they say, f*** yeah!

In this so-called “alternative club banger,” Pink and Em are gunning for the weekend, which they take very seriously. “I just want to play,” sings P!nk, “so get out of my way if you know what’s better for you.” Lipstick and leather tights, high heels and cherry wine, she’s not “wasting any time” in her quest for the best weekend (until next weekend). And Eminem’s right there with her, albeit in a style all his own. “Nothing high-class in my glass, only bottles I pop,” he raps, tongue twisting, before going on to toss Diddy a few knocks (“I’m not Puffy, but I’ma run the city tonight/When I hit it, I might act like a friggin’ idiot”) and say something about feeling like a “mixture of Stiffler and Urkel.” All the days between now and the weekend, consider this your warning!

P!nk Gives Us Something To Talk About With “Slut Like You”

For those of you who listened to “Try” and worried that P!nk may be going soft, fear not! This next snippet from The Truth About Love suggests quite the opposite, with a title even more suggestive than “Blow Me (One More Kiss)” and a bracing beat to match. In this preview clip, P!nk leads a “you’re not my little friend” that breaks free into yowled wooo-woooo’s and “wham bam thank you ma’am”‘s, and makes the provocative claim that:  “I’m gonna let you know the truth,” she sings, “I’m a slut like you.” Let’s get this Truth About Love party stated, then, shall we?

It’s hard to say, with just this 45-second snippet, what exactly”Slut Like You” is about or who it’s for — a warning for an old flame’s new “friend”? An empowered promise to keep pace with a less than loyal lover? — but we are sure it’ll be a topic of conversation when it drops in full with Truth About Love next week. P!nk is ever strong-willed woman, and this song will sound plenty at home on our party mixes, but reclaiming of the once negative term “slut” seems likely to be thrown into the conversation around the use of “bitch” in music that’s currently at a rolling boil. Is her embracing of the once negative term empowering? Or is she doing herself and other women a disservice?

And if we are lucky, P!nk will share her thinking behind this proactive new track when she lays it all down during her VH1 Storytellers session, set to air November 12th.

P!nk Inspires Us To Get Up And “Try”

Whether she’s kicking you out the door or letting you back in, P!nk is ever inspiring with her strength. Every bit the kiss-off the title suggests, the first single off her soon to be released The Truth About Love, “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” is the opposite of forgiving. “Eyes on fire,” burning from all the time, “she thinks she’s “finally had enough” and that she maybe “thinks to much.” And so “no more battles for me,” she begs, ending things. “Blow me one last kiss.”

Meanwhile, this second The Truth About Love single takes the opposite approach to the maybe too challenging relationship by forgiving. Instead of walking out the door, she’s going to “Try.” “Sometimes I think it’s better to never ask why,” she submits, because sometimes “we fall in love so easy, even when it’s not right.” So instead of blowing one last kiss, she keeps trying. “Just because it burns doesn’t mean you’re going to die, you gotta get up and try,” she sings on the ballad’s chorus, determined as ever. Sometimes it takes as much strength to forgive as it does to kiss-off.

5 Things To Watch For At Tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards

With only a hours left until showtime, we’ve got our seat chosen and snacks purchased and and watched everyone of the nominated videos, so all that’s left to do now is wait and see who Rihanna pulls from the pile first when Chris Brown and Drake get in a big fight. Though their attendance has been much buzzed about, this hopefully won’t happen. And anyways, the schedule of events has so much more to offer: a slew of high-profile performers, many Moonmen to be won, and, as always, moments to be made. There’s going to be a lot to take in, so we’ve come-up with a plan of action and here are the five things we are most excited to watch for tonight: Read more…
