Tuned In: The Joy Formidable Take “A Heavy Abacus” To Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Promoting their new album “The Big Roar”, The Joy Formidable played on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. A cross between M83 and Arcade Fire, with a haunting chillwave vocal, The Joy played “A Heavy Abacus”, which moved between a soaring hook and unassuming verses that built into an epic, stadium ready sound. That’s not to mention that the band themselves are pretty adorable, in that inoffensively quirky way that musicians in this newly defined genre of artists are. They Joy really are quite formidable!

Tuned In: Mariachi El Bronx Trumpet Romantically For “Revolution Girls”

Last night Mariachi El Bronx performed “Revolution Girls” on Letterman, and it was just as evocative of sunshine and romance as one would expect. With joyful trumpets bellowing and the humble cowbell knocking its recognizable head bopping sound, the performance was punctuated with an impeccable vocal and violin instrumentals. Just closing our eyes we could imagine ourselves sipping from coconuts by the sea and falling in love, or out on some blossoming, sun drenched farm in the spring, again, falling in love. We also absolutely loved the band’s matching jackets and bright red neck-kerchiefs.
