The Top 10 Weirdos In Music (And Why We Love Them For It)

In a recent Rolling Stone article, A$AP Rocky explained that “nowadays, everybody wanna be weird. We know how to manifest being weird. We know we some weird-ass looking motherf**kers, and we know we do some weird sh*t.” He continued, “But at the same time, we some geniuses.”

While we’re not entirely sure that we agree with the “genius” tag, it does seem that suddenly every artist is out to “out-weird” each other. Whether it’s what Ke$ha‘s studding, what shoes Lil Wayne‘s rocking, or what Lil B‘s prophesizing, artists are competing to be the most unique and we just can’t get enough of it. Normal is just so boring, isn’t it? The art of music is all about expressing individuality in its purest form, and artists who don’t just let their tunes do the talking are the most appealing to us. We love these artists for embracing their individuality, their unique weirdness, that sets them apart. Brace yourself for our list of the Top 10 Weirdos in Music Today (And Why We Love Them For It).

Coyne Says He Knew Erykah Badu Was An Unpredictable Freak

Upsetting Erykah Badu, again, must be the furthest thing from Wayne Coyne’s mind. In an interview with Rolling Stone he had a few choice words about the feud between him and Badu that played out quite interestingly on Twitter. If you don’t dabble in the world of social media here’s a brief recap: Badu and The Flaming Lips teamed up for a remake of Roberta Flack’s “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.” Coyne directed the video, which featured Badu, her sister, nudity, glitter and some thick (questionable) substances. Badu initially seemed excited until the video received backlash and criticism for its content. E. Badu took to Twitter to slam Coyne for allegedly releasing the video prematurely and eventually released an official statement telling Coyne to “kiss her glittery a–.” Read more…

The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne Can Kiss Erykah Badu’s “Glittery A**” For Releasing Unfinished Music Video

Badu vs. Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne

Glitter is supposed to make everyone happy! Too bad glitter is not enough to settle the spat between Erykah Badu and The Flaming Lips lead singer Wayne Coyne. She had no problem with Coyne tweeting nude photos of her sister, Nayrock, who is also featured in the video for The Flaming Lips and Badu collaboration on “First Time I Ever Saw Your Face.” According to Okayplayer.com, Ms. Badu was not pleased with the premature posting of the video on Pitchfork.com.  She did not back down from her position even though all of Twitter was watching. We’re assuming the apology and accountability The Flaming Lips took for the concept of the video wasn’t quite enough to get back on her good side either. Read more…

Wayne Coyle Tweets Nude Photos Of Erykah Badu Look Alike– Her Sister

Nude Photos Tweeted by Wayne Coyle Aren't Erykah Badu

A nude Erykah Badu isn’t very shocking considering her 2010 booty bearing “Window Seat” video. What no one expected was filmmaker Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips to tweet nude photos of what appeared to be the very lovely (and in shape) soul singer. According to PopDust.com, Coyne and Badu are working on the video to the remake of Roberta Flack’s “First Time I Ever Saw Your Face.” So when he tweeted photos of a nude woman with long dreadlocks that resembled E. Badu, well, people assumed it was her. Not that anyone was complaining.  Uncensored photos after the jump. Read more…
