This coming Saturday, That Metal Show, the only television series about all things hard rock and heavy metal, returns to VH1 Classic. Now as much as we love the witty banter and bromance of hosts Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson, we all know, the show is really about the music. One of the highlights of every episode is the musical guests, whether they’re shredding on guitar  like the incomparable Yngwie Malmsteen, on the drums like Anthrax’s Charlie Benante, or on the bass like the legendary Billy Sheehan. Christmas is almost here and shortly after comes New Year’s so there’s no better time to look back at the year’s music releases in hopes of finding some stocking stuffers for your holiday season. 2013 was a banner year for hard rock and heavy metal with such legends as Black Sabbath, Motorhead and Voivod releasing great new records, strong showings from newer bands like Scorpion Child, The Winery Dogs and Noctum and tons of great releases in the underground metal community as well.
